The house off the beaten track. If you want be totally alone in the woods in a house steeped in history, this is the place. Most of the inventory is historically and intact. A mini museum. Close by the house runs a river where you can fish small trout or swim. There are several nice waterfalls close by. Hiking trails up the mountain starts just 200 m from the house. Many different routes and peaks around. It is 700m to the port where you can use rowboats for free as much as you want.

The space
Alone in the woods. The house off the beaten track. On the island of Stord / Fitjar between Bergen and Stavanger. Far out the Hardanger Fjord, on Norway's west coast.
-2 Hours from Bergen.
-3 Hours from Stavanger.
-3 Hours from Park Trolltunga.
-4 Hours from Park Preiketolen(pulpit rock).
-5 km to the restaurant, fast food and shopping center.
Deserted area, with some farms around. Few or no other tourists in the area. You will see domesticated cows and wild animals such as deer close by the house.
-100m from the road with local traffic.

The house is old and all fixtures are of older vintage. Quite fascinating.
To get to the bathroom and toilet you have to go down a very steep staircase to the basement of the house. Standars in the bathroom is low.

Helene & Knut, the owner, even live 500m away. We will give help and give advice on trips and equipment.

The house off the beaten track is the only house along the entire 10 km long river from the mountains. The water is clean and drinkable. The water flow varies by how much there is raining. With 2-3 days of sun, temperatures can reach 23 degrees in the afternoon. In every natural pool, there are small trout. The chance to meet other people along the river is small.
2 pcs bikes can be borrowed for free. More bicycles can be rented.
Boats in the harbor can be borrowed for free. This is a lake, and there are trout, arctic char and some salmon. Normal fish size is 200g, and you can fish for free.
You get more out of your trip if you bring your raincoats and waterproof boots with you. At times very wet you know. Outdoor shoes are not desirable used indoors.
This place has a imposed token fee (18 Euro) to clarify beds and wash sheets and the towel before and after use. In order to keep the fee as low as possible I expect you to leave the apartment as clean and pure as when you arrived.
Anyway, if you would like to buy the final cleaning and not spend your vacation cleaning, we can offer this service for a very low price. You decide this yourself when you check out.

Scandinavia is far to the north. Norway and Western Norway is famous for its breathtaking scenery and spectacular fjords.
The closest major airport is Bergen Airport. On the island of Stord is also a small airport with daily flights to and from Oslo.
From Denmark Fjord Line daily ferry to Kristiansand, Stavanger or Bergen.
About 20,000 people living on the island.
There are hospitals and anything else of help settings considers and facilities.

Middle of the island consists of wild mountain areas, with peaks of up to 750 meters above sea level with beautiful views. Many hiking paths and trails that makes migration of this nature even easier. Here is an abundance of bird and wildlife. Deer, hares, eagles and other birds are a common meeting.
Anyway, fishing is most popular. There are a lot of small and big lakes. These are tied together with waterfalls, rivers and streams, all full of small trout. Everyone can fish all over and completely for free. Please bring with yourself fishing rod for use in the mountain lakes. Some guests have actually caught 110 trouts in some few days. The fishing season is from May to October. If the winter is cold enough and safe ice on the lake, ice fishing for arctic char is been popular.

You will receive a map to guide upon arrival, where the trails are marked. You can get advice from the landlord about recommended trips depending on how experienced hiker you are. There is plenty of water in the area, you know, boots are recommended. Much blueberries in the area, cranberries and opportunity to find chanterelle.

The area has large and fascinating climatic variations during the year. In winter, temperatures can go down to minus 15, it may be snow, and mountain lakes are frozen. On hot summer days around 30 degrees plus, and the water in the rivers and lakes, can have a nice bath temperature of over 23 degrees after a few sunny days.
Anyway, Norways Westcoast is known for a lot of precipitation in the form of rain. You get more enjoyment from nature by bringing rain clothes and waterproof boots.
Biting midges, from about 15 June to 15 October. This bastard can be anoyes at humid and windless days. Not dangerous, just annoying.
Ticks and viper can be found in the area but not heard anyone who has been infected by them.
Also light varies. In winter there is daylight only 6-7 hours, in summer 18 to 19 hours.
There is good mobile coverage in total area.
Welcome.
