Upstairs apartment ( kitchen and bath) has two bedrooms to comfortably sleep five. From our vintage home walk one block to public transportation that accesses all of Portland, or five blocks to the vibrant historic Hollywood district.
Our biggest plus is location: $25 cab from airport or public transportation from airport or train station; quiet residential neighborhood; several historic districts within walking distance; nearby public transportation (light rail and bus) give access to the entire Portland Metro area. We rarely use our car. View the space in the pictures. We will provide coffee/tea and breakfast snacks for you to serve yourselves.
You will be able to use our lovely, enclosed backyard garden with patio table/four chairs/peaceful shady bench and watch the humming birds and gold finches splash in the water feature.
Be aware that as it is an upstairs apartment, there are stairs to climb....23 stairs total from the sidewalk level to the apartment level.
Interaction with Guests
While you will have my cellphone number so that I can try to meet any needs you have, you didn't come to Portland to visit with us. I will be just downstairs most of the time, but probably will not interface with you unless you want me to.
Quiet old residential neighborhood, many 100+ year- old, well-kept homes, beautiful yards with many flowering plants and mature trees.
Definitely good access to public transportation. One block to a bus that takes you the 9 blocks to the Hollywood transit center with access to the light rail which goes to the PDX airport or into down town. That same bus will take you over to the Amtrak railroad station.
Other Things to Note
We now have a Short Term Rental Permit from the City of Portland.
Definitely no smoking inside the apartment or anywhere on the property. And we do not rent to persons who are bringing a pet along.
Tom made us feel very welcome. He was there to greet us as we arrived and maintained open communication throughout. The neighborhood was very nice, and in a very convenient location. It's only about a 10 min walk to the light rail station, or about a $15 Uber ride to downtown Portland. The living space was very accurate with it's description. It was also very clean. I would definitely stay here again if and when I have a return trip to Portland.
My friends and I had a wonderful time at Tom Munson's lovely home. The apartment is as advertised and the pictures really give a good representation of what you will receive at his place. He lives in a lovely location just outside of downtown portland; however, I actually enjoyed strolling through his neighborhood during the day and going to downtown when I felt the need. Tom was extremely nice and very helpful in terms of places to eat and sites to see. I highly recommend his place!
this was a great little apartment in a great location for our stay in Portland. Just a short walk to the Hollywood District and plenty of restaurants and our favorite pub the moon and sixpence. We would certainly stay here again and recommend the apartment to others.
Tom's place is in great condition and 100% as advertised. He made himself available if needed, but was not intrusive at all. We were there for a convention with 4 guys and we all had our own bed. We were gone all day and would just come back in the evening basically. You have private access, an outdoor sitting area, a small but equipped kitchen, and bathroom with 3 different rooms. The neighborhood is very nice, I went for jogs most mornings and lots of sidewalks. A very family oriented neighborhood. It was a fairly short walk to the public rail system which took us everywhere we needed to go. I would definitely stay again and recommend. Other than seeing Tom at check-in we actually never saw him again as everything was in great order.
Tom's place was perfect for our 5 day trip to Portland. The place is a short walk from Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and the train station. Also, the neighborhood has some very interesting houses and was fun to walk around.
Tom met us and showed us around the place before leaving us be for the weekend. The place is really nice and has a bunch of little touches that I appreciated. I'd definitely stay here again.
Tom and Leslie were great hosts. They were very easy to communicate with and gave great recommendations and advice. The attic apartment we rented was cozy but perfectly comfortable for the five of us.
Tom made us feel very welcome. He greeted us personally at the designated check-in time, explained the ins-and-outs of the apartment, and then was very accommodating throughout our stay.
The apartment itself is really quite perfect. There were three of us (1 couple and 1 single) and we enjoyed having separate rooms. The house itself is beautiful and the neighborhood perfect, with a great coffee shop/breakfast place a 3 minute walk away.
Would definitely recommend staying here!
I'm a retired Chemistry Professor and I am totally hooked on family genealogy, and maintaining my health through continuous aerobic exercise (cycling). That is Leslie, my wife of 40 years, in the picture. She lives here too and you may see her if she is not working.
