We enjoyed our stay in this really pretty and welcoming cabin. The sacred textiles were really incredible and we especially loved getting to ride the cruiser bikes to town for breakfast. It was also nice to have a few necessities on hand - coffee, tea, breakfast food.
Spent only one night at this property & wished for more time there! The area is quiet and has a lot of privacy, which I liked - it's a 5 to 10 min drive to the Main Street of Calistoga (bit far to walk so you would need a car). Mari was incredibly hospitable, she left us a sweet surprise when we first got there & stocked the fridge with some things for breakfast (thank you!)
The house was very clean and tidy, and was really comfortable - there's a fire place for chilly nights, and a comfy bed.
The best part was the communication, even though we never met in person Mari was incredibly detailed with her responses and offered up some great advice and suggestions. Would definitely return and would recommend to everyone visiting Calistoga who want to relax away from the hustle and bustle.
The lodging near Calistoga was just outside of town, comfortable and quiet. The inside was cozy and well appointed. It was chilly when we visited so we had to be pretty diligent about keeping the wood stove stoked, but the flannel sheets on the bed are the best ever. We were greeted with a wonderful pastry dessert that was fabulous. Lodging is close to town so it was easy to get around and there are a number of nice restaurants and wineries close by to visit. You can't beat the view of the stars on a clear night. We would definitely stay again if we venture back to the area.
We had a fantastic long weekend stay in Mari's cottage. Mari was a most attentive host, catering to everything we could possibly need and more.
The cottage was spacious, clean, cozy and well equipped. It was also in a fantastic location, letting us bike to wine tastings and Calistoga in minutes (bikes provided!)
Thanks we'll certainly recommend and stay again!
Absolutely LOVED Mari's rustic cottage. The fresh eggs from her chickens as well as the fresh granola each morning were lovely. The location was perfect...my only regret is that I couldn't spend more time there.
Mari's place was fantastic. Exactly as described and she was a wonderful host - very communicative, flexible and gracious. The place was set back in the country, very private and romantic, and was even larger than we had anticipated. Mari's directions to get to the place were spot on and very helpful. The fresh pastries provided were a nice touch and we felt right at home during our short stay. I'd highly recommend Mari's place if you're looking for a quiet, yet convenient, clean and affordable place to stay in northern Napa Valley.
I highly recommend this "cottage" in Calistoga ! Mari's place is in a beautiful country setting, away from the hustle and bustle of wine country, but within a few minutes' drive from Calistoga. The "cottage" is spacious and comfortable, thoughtfully and tastefully outfitted. Mari left comprehensive instructions and directions, as well as very special treats for a welcome snack and breakfast. I'm sorry that we did not have a chance to meet Mari, but her presence was felt in the lovely decor and spotlessly clean spaces. Grover was gracious and extremely interesting to talk with the next morning - we probably kept him too long but it was fascinating to learn about the area from a dedicated permaculture specialist. Many Thanks to both !
This is a very cozy and comfortable cottage. During our stay the weather was cold in the evenings but the wood burning stove and space heaters did keep it warm enough. The downstairs was chilly, but there is enough space upstairs that we did not use the downstairs portion. I loved the flannel sheets on the comfortable bed and plenty of blankets were provided. We did not prepare any meals, but I did appreciate the tea and cream that was provided (there were also eggs, granola, yogurt and tangerines available- but we never ate breakfast). The chocolate and caramel tart that was waiting for us when we arrived was incredibly delicious!
I would definitely stay here again: it's in a perfect location, there are beautiful views, and it was a comfortable stay. Mari and Grover are very communicative and helpful.
What a charming place. My friend and I really enjoyed our cottage experience. From the nice welcome treat to the exquisite views, everything was perfect. Mari and Grover were excellent hosts and I would highly recommend this to anyone. I have a feeling we'll be back!
We stayed at Mari and Grover's cabin for our New Year vacation. What a perfect place for us. The location is 3 minutes to downtown Calistoga and put us in the perfect position to hit all of our destinations; St. Helena, Harbin Hot Springs, and Indian Springs.
When we arrived there was a small pecan pie waiting for us, that was the most delicious I've had. The kitchen does not have a stove or an oven, but they do provide a very good hot plate to cook on. Don't expect to be able to handle cooking epic culinary experiences, but I was able to cook some pretty decent breakfasts and dinners on it. There is a very good toaster oven that I made good use of as well.
The space is cozy and well represented by the photos. The bed was very comfortable. My partner didn't care for the flannel sheets on the bed, and Mari promptly provided us with a second set. She was amazingly communicative and respectful throughout our stay. I can't recommend them enough.
We'll definitely be back.
