Forbes just named our town, Kapaa as one of the 15 prettiest towns in America.
In the Aug. 16 photo gallery posted on the Forbes Magazine website, Kapaa is described as having “a small-town Polynesian paradise quality that feels much more connected to the island’s past,” that is “unlike the high-rise strewn beaches that line so many of Hawaii’s stretches of coast.”

“It’s a very Hawaiian town with traditional ukulele makers and fish taco trucks parked under the palm trees.” Evans wrote. “It’s a small town with a lot of Hawaiian life, minus the tourist fray.”

  • The place is beautiful and very relaxing! Clean and neat. Cyndie was super host, helped with everything we needed. The room is well equipped, you have apple bananas in the room and the most tasty avocados we ever ate. Thank you Cyndie, we appreciate very much.

  • Really great experience. The home is about 1.5 miles from town out in the country. It was just a short 2 miles to the beach. It is so peaceful and beautiful. The room was clean and neat. Cyndie had avocados, bananas and coconuts out each morning. Cyndie was sweet to get us a list of local restaurants and activities in the area. The room was comfortable. Bed was good. Shower was great. Nice big sunken tub. Would recommend this location to anyone staying on Kauai. Great location. Stayed a week. Could have stayed longer!!! Thank you Cyndie.

  • The rooms are very good and clean. However, there is no microwave and no television which some guests may find disappointing . Driving to and from is a bit of a challenge but you get used to it. We like hot showers but water is generally lukewarm. Cyndie is very friendly and helpful, left avocados and bananas out and welcomed us with cold beers! Bring earplugs if roosters crowing at all hours annoy you but that's the way it is. all over the island. It was central to everything. Free wifi and reception was good. It was a good experience!

Sorry the hot water wasn't hot enough for you...we keep it set to go on if it gets below 110*.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Cyndie and her husband Doug were very accommodating. Due to some poor weather our hike on the Kalalau Trail was postponed twice. Fortunately, Cyndie was able to accommodate our new split schedule and our luggage storage needs while we went off hiking for three days. She also let us use her cell phone to contact our guide and Doug picked us up from the airport for a reasonable fee. The room was comfortable, clean and spacious as advertised. Cyndie was a friendly, gracious host.
We would not hesitate to stay with her again. Thanks Cyndie for all you did to make our stay so pleasant.

  • We had a great time exploring the island from this prime location. Cyndie is friendly and accessible host with a lot of valuable insight to help make your time on the island pleasant. The room is in a beautiful home in a scenic location. On a clear day you can see waterfalls from the window. The room is more spacious than it appears in the pictures and it is well equipped with the basic necessities that make it a great home base for exploring the breathtakingly beautiful island of Kauai. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Very well maintained property, off the beaten path in a quiet area, except, of course, the roosters that are everywhere:) The room had a great view and is a nice size, wifi is good as there is no TV so I could use my PC for movies on netflix. Fresh fruit was waiting for me in the room when I arrived! Nice place

  • What a delightful room with a view! Approximately 2 miles from Kapaa, this tucked away gem was exactly what we were hoping for. It was clean, quiet, and away from touristy resorts. I loved the sitting area arrangement with the table and two chairs; we had our breakfasts here while enjoying the ever-changing view of the misty mountains. The hosts, Cyndie and Doug were very kind and helpful. We arranged to have Doug pick us up at the airport (for a fee) and Cyndie delighted us with freshly picked bananas grown on their property. She showed us how to eat passion fruit too! We stayed for 7 days and rented bicycles in Kapaa for our transportation. The route to town is along a lovely paved country road which takes - by bicycle - approximately 5 minutes going into town and 15 minutes going up to Cyndie and Doug's. There is only one very small section, say 20 feet, that is pretty steep and I had to get off my bike and walk (I consider myself in average shape). Because the roads are generally narrow and don't offer much shoulder room, and it gets dark really fast, we made sure we were back up the hill and off the road before it got dark, a safety measure I highly recommend for anyone considering bicycling on Kauai. We would definitely return to this gem of a place. Cyndie & Doug, Mahalo!

  • I thought at first like it was way out in the sticks, but the more I was on the island last week, the more I found how perfect the location was. And the host was wonderful, the place was beautiful, the room was great with no bugs and very few chickens! Very high marks!!! Thanks

  • The location, view and hospitality were amazing! Cyndie was great! Hands down this has to be the best deal on the island, I will be recommending Cyndie's place to everyone coming to Kauai!
