Daughter of a Saskatchewan wheat farmer Marlis has travelled extensively and worked in Malaysia, discovered Peterborough to be her home. She spent 15 years restoring a century home, King Bethune House, and has been operating a Guest House & Spa there for more than 20 years. She has purchased a small house, Waterford House, and created two fully furnished and equipped executive suites for long stay guests (month or more). A downtown personality, she willingly shares her favourite entertainment spots, restaurants and shopping gems with guests. The gardens at both locations are reclusive and restorative, the one at King Bethune House has a firepit, hammock and breakfast patio; the one at Waterford House has a veggie garden and a flower garden in front and a private fern garden with King Suite at the back. Marlis enjoys hiking, biking, reading, travelling and is a Blue Jays Baseball fan. She is keen on good food, relishing shopping from local farmers at the local market twice/week, and enjoys making each guest a special healthy breakfast.
