This stay was wonderful! I want to thank you Jessica for letting us stay in your home! This was perfect for being out of the chaos but close enough to good food, the street cars, and a nice neighborhood. When we did have an issue with the air conditioning it was fixed promptly! The house was just as nice as it looks in the pictures! Thanks again and if we are coming back to stay long again we will be letting you know!
Easy check in. The place was clean. For the price, I was not disappointed, but there were a few things that made a our stay less than perfect. The in room air conditioner in the back bedroom was not sealed well and by the second day was blowing hot air back inside. This may have been inappropriate, but instead of bothering Jessica with it, I just bought a roll of duct tape and retaped the outlet. The toilet was not bolted to the floor, so it wobbled a bit, no big deal. The bathroom was clean and there were plenty of linens, so the wobbly comode was really no big deal. It is a challenge to use the kitchen, as there was no table and counter and sink space were severely limited. I would not recommend trying to sleep more than 3, as the convertible couch is very uncomfortable and the living room is not directly air conditioned. There were termites in the building and they were crawling about, but I may have seen less than 10 in the 4 days that we spent there. There was no shade in the back as the patio umbrella had been previously destroyed ( A storm? Rowdy guests?) So it was not really usable for much during the daytime which is a shame seeing how the only table is on the patio. Overall, this is a great value with a great location but bring a car if you wouldn't like to walk the several blocks to catch the trolley.
Thanks for staying with us and pointing out the maintenance issues. We addressed all issues after you left.
We have a termite contract on the home, but there is a 2 week termite swarm that happens throughout New Orleans every year in the early summer. Most hotels ask guests to keep the lights out during this time to avoid the termites, but I realize that is impossible to do when you are on vacation. I am so glad that week is over!
I stayed at Jessica's for 6 nights. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and I found her helpful. The house was very clean and stocked with necessary linens. It would be great if a few more kitchen supplies could be provided i.e. cutting board, knife for chopping, sponge etc. I found it be a challenge to cook and ended up going out to eat (which was fine since the food in NOLA is amazing!). It couldn't have been a better location and I loved the claw foot tub.
The only serious hick up was the first night we stayed in the house the back lock was not working but we were easily able to fix it the next day with a screw driver. She compensated us for a free additional night in the house. We really couldn't have asked for a more accommodating host! I would definitely recommend this rental to any of my friends or family. Thank you again Jessica!
Back in Spain after a long journey, just a few words to say how wonderful our stay in New Orleans was and to thank Jessica for being such a good host. She made eveything so easy and the place is so nice. I would highly recommend it.
The apartment was sparse, but it was clean and comfortable. Jessica was very responsive and helpful.
Staying at Jessica's was a pleasure. She was extremely responsive throughout the process, and set us up perfectly. She also had a great list of recommended spots to check out in the city. Thanks so much, Jessica!
Perfect location to Magazine Rd - and the St. Charles Streetcar is easily reached for a trip downtown, the trip West to Riverwalk/City Park has to be by bus for some blocks because the tracks is currently undergoing maintenance there.
We liked the hardwood floors and the convenient lkitchen - it was clean and cosy.
The weather was cold during our stay, but the gas oven in the middle room is sufficient to warm the bedrooms at night.
I spent almost a week at the end of March in Jessica's lovely home! I traveled with a group of 8, so we rented both sides and fit very comfortably. We really enjoyed the location.. a very quick walk to Magazine street (with a few bars, plenty of places to eat, and many stores to shop), a walk to the trolley, and near a few buses. However, we ended up taking cabs most nights to Bourbon street. Typically cost around $15-20 bucks, but split 4 ways each cab it really wasn't too bad!
The house was cute and as pictured. We didn't have any issues whatsoever, but Jessica was very quick to reply with a question I had upon our arrival. Since we did have a larger group, we needed to purchase plastic cups and silverware, paper plates, paper towels, and extra toilet paper. There is a Walmart nearby and a Rouses even closer.
Some reviews mentioned construction... while there was construction in process on a house next door, I only heard it one of the five days we were there. They didn't start working until late morning and by that time we were already up and at 'em! I felt very safe in the neighborhood as well.
Absolutely loved our stay and would definitely be back again! This is exactly what we were looking for. Thank you so much, Jessica!
I was in town for Buku fest and the location was perfect. Parking is easy and close to Magazine which is important. The house has most everything you need and Jessica was a very helpful host and easy to contact and prompt with a response. I'd stay there again.
Our stay in Jessica's apartment just off Magazine was great. Everything we needed was there and lots of things we didn't even get to use (games, DVDs). The place was very clean and quiet. The street itself is funky in a good way (there is an old circus/magician/something truck parked a block away). Magazine street is super close and we enjoyed walking in either direction and trying the shops and restaurants. Jessica was available to answer questions and the whole process was very simple. Thanks!
