This was my second time hosted by Robert, and that I came back should be the best review of all! Robert is a lovely person, an impeccable host who really goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable. His recommendations for restaurants and bars is top-notch, and his interactions with you make you feel truly at home. I felt as if I were returning to see a friend. The boat is fantastic, a really unique way to experience Amsterdam. It has all of amenities of home and is very clean and in a vibrant, safe location. I give Robert and his boat my highest recommendation, and hope he travels to Boston so we can make him feel just as at home!

Response from Robert:
haha I just wrote that if it's half as busy in Boston as it is now in Amsterdam during the SAIL 2015 I am not going... Rachel, thank you very much, as Boston is one of the cities on my list I most certainly will come for a visit. And yes, it did feel like friends visiting. Great, great summer, great times, I'm very happy, and i hope you too! Greetings

Robert was an excellent host. Great communication and very clear description about everything related to the boat. Location couldn't have been better as it was a 2 minute walk to the Tram stop and maybe 10 minute walk to just about anywhere else in the city. Very quiet at night. It's not mentioned anywhere but worth nothing that the bed is one of those memory foam types which was amazing to sleep on. Robert made this one of the best places I've ever stayed and truly unique.

We drove into Amsterdam from Belgium for three nights on Robert's houseboat. Robert was very helpful in providing park and ride information and guiding us in using the public transportation to get into town. We were a little late arriving, but Robert was patient and welcoming, making sure we were comfortable and that we understood everything we might need to know before leaving. The houseboat was tidy, fun, and comfortable. I slept really well and enjoyed watching the tour boats go by on the canal. The neighborhood was nice, and close enough to everything without being over-run by tourists and returning students. Robert was attentive and friendly, and I liked staying here very much. Why pay the same price for a tiny hotel room in Amsterdam when you can stay on Robert's houseboat? To me it's a no-brainer.

It is my delight to recommend Robert's houseboat for your stay in Amstersam. I spent one week on his boat and it was a pleasure. Robert greeted me as scheduled and provided a wonderful overview to the workings of the boat and the surrounding area. The boat was stocked with foods for a wonderful breakfast. He left me with recommendations for bars, restaurants, and shops that were perfect - you should follow his advice! He was polite and prompt in all correspondence. The area is beautiful, safe, and convenient to all of Amsterdam. Should I be lucky enough to return to Amstersam, I would not hesitate to stay here. Robert, you are welcome with us or to our recommendations if you ever come to Boston. Thank you for a wonderful Airbnb experience!

We decided to head into Amsterdam for a few days very last minute and Robert was very quick to respond to our request (just hours.) He sent us great details on how to go about taking transit to find the houseboat, and covered all of the little details very quickly once we were there. Beautiful walkable location just a minute away from a tram, awesomely cushy memory-foam bed and pillows means you can easily get around and and have a good nights sleep at the end of the day.

Robert is a fantastic host. He is responsive, helpful, and made us feel right at home. He is happy to answer any questions, make suggestions, and goes out of his way to provide some provisions and toiletries. My husband and I loved our stay on his comfortable houseboat. The location is absolutely perfect as well. The neighborhood is as picturesque and lovely as you can imagine. We enjoyed watching different groups of people travel the canal past our boat and were lucky enough to get to observe a charming family of waterfowl, called coots, which nested and fed nearby the houseboat during our stay. The neighborhood is central and walkable (or bike-able) to many points of interest in the city. We walked everywhere from the houseboat and really got to know the city during our short stay. We are so pleased we found Robert and his houseboat on airbnb. After our stay, I cannot imagine wanting accommodations on land in Amsterdam. We highly recommend!

I really enjoyed my stay this past weekend on Robert's houseboat! Robert greeted me upon arrival and showed me around his home, as well as left a detailed list of recommendations in and around the area. What I loved best was the boat's location to the activities I wanted to do. I never once took a taxi or the train, but rather walked everywhere I went. The photos are accurate and Robert truly was a generous and welcoming host. Traveling alone as a single female, I felt comfortable, safe and at home.

A russian Israeli, living in Amsterdam. I engineer software, enjoy cooking, biking, and since beginning of 2011 - sailing. I love music, and night life, going out yet I'm rather quiet. And I am fond of cats.

As a guest for me critically important are: hot shower, WiFi, and to have a little private space so that I can close the door separating me from the outside world, and take a break. Secondarily comes either a central location, or at least no more than a few minutes-walking distance to the public transport.

There are of course many other things I require, but from my experience of staying in b&b accommodations I was very surprised not to find any that meet those very simple needs.

For my guests I intend providing everything I'd expect as a guest myself, so that their stay at my place will be comfortable and enjoyable.
