Interaction with Guests
Our approach to airbnb, com is a little warmer and more personal. Click the profile video to the right to see what we're about. We have received tons of positive feedback from our guests. I would say we are completely easy going and have no agenda other than to see you have a good time. If you have any special concerns or requests, click the "CONTACT US" button to your right and we will do our best to accommodate you.
When visiting Portland, where you stay is critical. You want to have easy access to everything. We have that. Our neighborhood is called "Sellwood-Moreland"- you can look it up online and see why it is such a desirable place to be. You can hop a bus and be downtown in 11 minutes! Our home is equal quick walking distance between 2 fantastic parks. We are also within a easy 15 minute walk to Reed College. We have 5 microbreweries and about 15 restaurants within 4 blocks. We can certainly make experienced recommendations! All of Portland is safe, but Sellwood is super safe. Everyone you will meet is super friendly.
You won't need a car if you stay with us, but we have them available (see below). Mass transit is simple (there's an APP for that- "pdxbus"). The bus stop is a 2 min walk from our home and will get you wherever you want to go. We are also a short distance from the Springwater Corridor which is a great bike-only paved road that travels up the east side of the river.
There are bike shops in our neighborhood that will rent bikes for $55.00 per bike per day. We suggest you use our bikes instead. We charge $8 per bike per day (big savings-you can do the math). This also includes everything you need including helmets, lights, locks, cables, rain gear, gloves, and a bike basket cover. Please note, you will be required to wear helmets when you rent our bikes. That is NOT optional.
If you would like us to pick you up and/or take you to the airport, we are willing to drive you for $25 (a cab will cost a LOT more).
If you find yourself needing to rent a car (like a day trip to the coast or the Gorge), you can rent a 2008 Volkswagen GTI or an ALL ELECTRIC 2015 Fiat 500e. All of these will be MUCH cheaper than a car rental PLUS they are right near where you will be staying!
Other Things to Note
We want to help you look back on your Portland stay as one of your best trips ever. We would encourage you to eat breakfast with us (since it is free and we have a great cook). We have a ton of books about how to "do" Portland, whether restaurants, outdoors, nightlife, etc. Borrow whatever interests you then rent our bikes and see the city this way!
1) Hairdryer, Towels, Shampoo, and Soap- Yes, we have these for you, leave yours at home and save space.
2) Tea Kettle- Yes, we have one for you along with 40 types of tea. Use it in the kitchen or in your room, your choice!
3) $10 cleaning fee; we wash EVERY piece of bed linen between EVERY guest stay and deep clean the bathroom DAILY because that's what we would want if we were guests. You only pay this fee once and it is included in your booking. :)
4) Smoking is only allowed outside on the front and back porches.
Smoking on front or back porch only.
Other than that, we are respectful hosts and happy people who look forward to meeting you!
Kristin and her folks made us feel very welcomed into their place. The location is very near to the charming street of cafes, pubs and restaurants and we had so much fun just hanging out along that area to our surprise. We didn't take up the offer of the breakfast since there's Grand Central Bakery, Either/Or, Ugly Mug, Blue Kangaroo etc. that were all so tempting as early breakfast options.
Kristin and Kip were very welcoming and helped ensure that my first Airbnb experience was a good one. Room was exactly what I needed, and the access to public transport and bikes made getting around easy. Beautiful home in a great neighborhood. Vegetarian breakfasts were a great way to start the day.
I had a great 2 days staying with Kristin and Kip. The house is in a great location - you can walk to food/drinks, or it's an easy trip to another neighborhood. I was so busy checking out the amazing city that I didn't see my hosts that often, but they were really nice, friendly, and helpful every time I did.
Kristin and Kip welcomed me warmly and gave a great orientation to the rooms, which were attractive and really clean. I was there during a few hot days in Portland and the basement room was wonderfully cool and comfortable. This part of Portland is a great neighborhood, right by a terrific natural park and easy bus service to downtown. I appreciated that I could come and go as I pleased, and how friendly and helpful the hosts were when we happened to cross paths.
Kristin is a gracious and sweet host. The house is warm and inviting and in the perfect area. This was our first time to Portland and I have to say, it was the best experience we've had staying in a large city. Kristin is very knowledgeable about Portland and her surrounding neighborhood. She was able to give us clear and accurate directions to where we were needing and wanting to go with ease. Her house is comfortable and charming and we really felt "at home" staying there. I would highly recommend Bedroom, Breakfast and Bikes to anyone who is thinking of going to Portland. We will definitely be staying there again in future trips to Portland. This was also our first experience with airbnb. The sight was very easy to use and we will definitely recommend it to friends and family.
Sellwood is an amazing little town. I have visited Portland numerous times before & always stayed in the pearl district area. Fortunately I had a couple of days to myself before my pals met me up & ran into this little gem of a house on airbnb. Not much else to add with the 200+ great reviews on this cute little home. Although I did not meet Kristin, Kip was a great host & drew me a map of all the cool places to check out in town. The "Main Street" of sellwood is literally 2 blocks away so it was perfect location to go drinking/exploring in town. Their breakfast/coffee was a nice little touch. Everything you would expect from a host plus more. (Plus their cat, girlie is super cute & loves to cuddle) definitely recommend.

About the Host, Kristin
So you are visiting Portland huh? Well you've come to the right place. More than just a place to stay, we are committed to helping everyone get the most of their time here. We have made a full time cause of learning and experiencing the best of Portland's culture, be it food, nightlife outdoors or any of the myriad of "quirky" events that "keep Portland weird". Seriously, whether here for business or vacation, Portland is too much fun to miss out by staying in a hotel and not knowing what to do or where to go. We like biking, drinking beer, listening to local bands/DJs, going dancing, watching soccer, exploring the wilderness and participating in anything that is new and sounds fun! We enjoy our city every day and want to share that with you.
