In your large cozy room, you have a REAL full sized bed with a great mattress. We have tons of bedding and warm stuff if you feel like you need it. It's private as there are no other bedrooms on that level. Please note: our house isn't well suited for small children. Kids over the age of 12 are welcome.
You can use the kitchen or simply enjoy our free awesome breakfasts. We are casual and not stuffy and welcome everyone (LGBT friendly). We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so please use the living room, dining room, kitchen and laundry room. Check out the pictures and enjoy the outside space as well!
Interaction with Guests
Our approach to airbnb, com is a little warmer and more personal. Click the profile video to the right to see what we're about. We have received tons of positive feedback from our guests. Our time is our own, (self-employed) so we are totally open to joining you and showing you the best stuff around or leaving you on your own to enjoy the city! I would say we are completely easy going and have no agenda other than to see you have a good time. If you have any special concerns or requests, click the "CONTACT US" button to your right and we will do our best to accommodate you.
When visiting Portland, where you stay is critical. You want to have easy access to everything. We have that. Our neighborhood is called "Sellwood-Moreland"- you can look it up online and see why it is such a desirable place to be. You can hop a bus and be downtown in 11 minutes! Our home is equal quick walking distance between 2 fantastic parks. We are also within a easy 15 minute walk to Reed College. We have 5 microbreweries and about 15 restaurants within 4 blocks. We can certainly make experienced recommendations! All of Portland is safe, but Sellwood is super safe. Everyone you will meet is super friendly.
You won't need a car if you stay with us, but we have them available (see below). Mass transit is simple (there's an APP for that- "pdxbus"). The bus stop is a 2 min walk from our home and will get you wherever you want to go. We are also a short distance from the Springwater Corridor which is a great bike-only paved road that travels up the east side of the river.
There are bike shops in our neighborhood that will rent bikes for $55.00 per bike per day. We suggest you use our bikes instead. We charge $8 per bike per day (big savings-you can do the math). This also includes everything you need including helmets, lights, locks, cables, rain gear, gloves, and a bike basket cover. Please note, you will be required to wear helmets when you rent our bikes. That is NOT optional.
If you would like us to pick you up and/or take you to the airport, we are willing to drive you for $25 (a cab will cost a LOT more). If you need a ride once you are in the city (like for something not near mass transit) just ask and we can probably do it for 10-20 bucks.
Once you get here, if you find yourself needing to rent a car (like a day trip to the coast or the Gorge), you have access to a 2005 Toyota Camry, a 2008 Volkswagen GTI or an ALL ELECTRIC 2015 Fiat 500e. All of these will be MUCH cheaper than a car rental PLUS they are right near where you will be staying!
Other Things to Note
We want to help you look back on your Portland stay as one of your best trips ever. We would encourage you to eat breakfast with us (since it is free and we have a great cook). We have a ton of books about how to "do" Portland, whether restaurants, outdoors, nightlife, etc. Borrow whatever interests you then rent our bikes and see the city this way!
1) Hairdryer, Towels, Shampoo, and Soap- Yes, we have these for you, leave yours at home and save space.
2) Tea Kettle- Yes, we have one for you along with 40 types of tea. Use it in the kitchen or in your room, your choice!
3) $10 cleaning fee; we wash EVERY piece of bed linen between EVERY guest stay and deep clean the bathroom DAILY because that's what we would want if we were guests. You only pay this fee once and it is included in your booking. :)
4) Smoking is only allowed outside on the front and back porches.
We need to be home to welcome our guests, so please be as specific as you can about arrival times and text us if any changes come up during your travel day. We want to make sure that we are there to give you a warm welcome!
Smoking on front or back porch only.
Other than that, we are respectful hosts and happy people who look forward to meeting you!
It was a little hard for us to find the way to open the door. But the owners were very welcome to us that made us feel comfortable. Thanks a lot.
I had a great stay at Kristin's. I felt very welcome by the relaxed atmosphere in this lovely home. Kristin was very helpful and gave me some great tips for my short stay in Portland. The house is very close to public transport so if you don't have a car this is a great location to stay in. The bedroom is lovely and spacious, a very comfortable bed which made for a great nights sleep.
I had a delicious breakfast and a lovely chat with Kristin to set me off on my way again. I highly recommend fellow travellers to stay here.
Great hospitality from the hosts! the bikes were such a great way to explore the city and the location was great as well. Thank you Kristin and Kip!!
My wife and I had tickets for a late concert in Portland and decided to try AirBnB instead of driving home after the show. The listing was exaclty as described, the house was in a great neighborhood; the room was clean; the breakfast was delicious; and Kristin and Kip were accomidating hosts. Kristin's house is truly being run like a bed and breakfast, instead of just being a room to sleep in for the night. In fact, we were almost late for the show since chatting with Kip and Kristin beforehand was like catching up with friends. My wife and I are going to try AirBnB again and a lot of that is due to this first experience.
Thanks Krisin and Kip!
Kristin was such a wonderful host. Very welcoming and her home was so cozy. Loved the neighborhood as well. Would gladly stay again when I'm back in Portland!
If you're considering visiting Portland, stop looking and just book here before it books out. This is one of the best places I've stayed, hands down. Loved staying here! One of the most beautiful neighbourhoods I've come across in my travels. The house is surrounded by a crazy amount of green and it's perfect for downtime and relaxing.
Kristin and Kip are brilliant hosts. They we're incredibly helpful and gave me advice and directions for whatever I needed. The main street just around the corner has a tonne of bars, cafes, dry cleaners and a gym.
The rooms are really clean and spacious. My bed was insanely good and made it hard to get up.
I'll be staying here next time I can get back to Portland.

About the Host, Kristin
So you are visiting Portland huh? Well you've come to the right place. More than just a place to stay, we are committed to helping everyone get the most of their time here. We have made a full time cause of learning and experiencing the best of Portland's culture, be it food, nightlife outdoors or any of the myriad of "quirky" events that "keep Portland weird". Seriously, whether here for business or vacation, Portland is too much fun to miss out by staying in a hotel and not knowing what to do or where to go. We like biking, drinking beer, listening to local bands/DJs, going dancing, watching soccer, exploring the wilderness and participating in anything that is new and sounds fun! We enjoy our city every day and want to share that with you.
