This comfy room sleeps 2. We offer free breakfast, bikes you can rent, mass transit within 5 min, and a walkable neighborhood! If this is already booked you can still stay with us! We have another place 8 blocks away with the same features. Ask us
In your large cozy room, you have a REAL full sized bed with a great mattress. We have tons of bedding and warm stuff if you feel like you need it. It's private as there are no other bedrooms on that level. Please note: our house isn't well suited for small children. Kids over the age of 12 are welcome.
You can use the kitchen or simply enjoy our free awesome breakfasts. We are casual and not stuffy and welcome everyone (LGBT friendly). We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so please use the living room, dining room, kitchen and laundry room. Check out the pictures and enjoy the outside space as well!
Interaction with Guests
Our approach to airbnb, com is a little warmer and more personal. Click the profile video to the right to see what we're about. We have received tons of positive feedback from our guests. Our time is our own, (self-employed) so we are totally open to joining you and showing you the best stuff around or leaving you on your own to enjoy the city! I would say we are completely easy going and have no agenda other than to see you have a good time. If you have any special concerns or requests, click the "CONTACT US" button to your right and we will do our best to accommodate you.
When visiting Portland, where you stay is critical. You want to have easy access to everything. We have that. Our neighborhood is called "Sellwood-Moreland"- you can look it up online and see why it is such a desirable place to be. You can hop a bus and be downtown in 11 minutes! Our home is equal quick walking distance between 2 fantastic parks. We are also within a easy 15 minute walk to Reed College. We have 5 microbreweries and about 15 restaurants within 4 blocks. We can certainly make experienced recommendations! All of Portland is safe, but Sellwood is super safe. Everyone you will meet is super friendly.
You won't need a car if you stay with us, but we have them available (see below). Mass transit is simple (there's an APP for that- "pdxbus"). The bus stop is a 2 min walk from our home and will get you wherever you want to go. We are also a short distance from the Springwater Corridor which is a great bike-only paved road that travels up the east side of the river.
There are bike shops in our neighborhood that will rent bikes for $55.00 per bike per day. We suggest you use our bikes instead. We charge $8 per bike per day (big savings-you can do the math). This also includes everything you need including helmets, lights, locks, cables, rain gear, gloves, and a bike basket cover. Please note, you will be required to wear helmets when you rent our bikes. That is NOT optional.
If you would like us to pick you up and/or take you to the airport, we are willing to drive you for $25 (a cab will cost a LOT more). If you need a ride once you are in the city (like for something not near mass transit) just ask and we can probably do it for 10-20 bucks.
Once you get here, if you find yourself needing to rent a car (like a day trip to the coast or the Gorge), you have access to a 2005 Toyota Camry, a 2008 Volkswagen GTI or an ALL ELECTRIC 2015 Fiat 500e. All of these will be MUCH cheaper than a car rental PLUS they are right near where you will be staying!
Other Things to Note
We want to help you look back on your Portland stay as one of your best trips ever. We would encourage you to eat breakfast with us (since it is free and we have a great cook). We have a ton of books about how to "do" Portland, whether restaurants, outdoors, nightlife, etc. Borrow whatever interests you then rent our bikes and see the city this way!
1) Hairdryer, Towels, Shampoo, and Soap- Yes, we have these for you, leave yours at home and save space.
2) Tea Kettle- Yes, we have one for you along with 40 types of tea. Use it in the kitchen or in your room, your choice!
3) $10 cleaning fee; we wash EVERY piece of bed linen between EVERY guest stay and deep clean the bathroom DAILY because that's what we would want if we were guests. You only pay this fee once and it is included in your booking. :)
4) Smoking is only allowed outside on the front and back porches.
We need to be home to welcome our guests, so please be as specific as you can about arrival times and text us if any changes come up during your travel day. We want to make sure that we are there to give you a warm welcome!
Smoking on front or back porch only.
Other than that, we are respectful hosts and happy people who look forward to meeting you!
Kristin and Kip were fantastic hosts! They were very knowledgeable of the area and extremely friendly. They never minded recommending us things to do and places to eat. Also, taking us to and from the airport made traveling much easier to Portland. Our best airbnb experience to date. Will definitely recommend them!
Kristin and Kip were amazing! They showed me a bunch of cool places to go, cooked two amazing breakfasts, and talked books with me and another guest long into the night.
I had an absolutely magical time in Portland, and staying here was a huge part of the experience.
Oh, and the room was clean, the bed was soft, and the sleeping environment was quiet.
Kristen and Kip were amazing hosts. Quick with an idea for the day. They made me feel so welcome. This was my first time in both Portland and using Air B&B. I'm hooked on both. THANKS GUYS!
Kristin was an excellent host and made me feel welcomed right away. I really wanted to spend time talking to her about her experience hosting, and she accommodated me and answered my many questions. After a nice, restful sleep (the bed was comfy and the sheets were soft and clean, the room was perfectly clean and neat), I got to meet Kip and another houseguest in the morning and we shared a nice breakfast and a great conversation. Kristin and Kip are very experienced hosts who both care greatly about providing a wonderful experience for their guests.
Kristin and Kip were wonderful hosts! We got into PDX on a late flight, but they were still up to welcome us. We had opportunities to venture out and explore Portland on our own, or to sit around and chat. In fact, we had a hard time walking out the door because the conversation was so engaging. I especially loved hearing their stories and about how involved they are in the community. They are warm and generous human beings.
The home itself has lots of character. I got distracted by decor (esp. the the local memorabilia, like the Star Trek in the Park and Miyazaki film festival posters). Our room was in the basement and was very clean and cozy and gave us a sense of separateness and privacy from the rest of the house.
Sellwood is a charming neighborhood worth exploring on its own, with one of a kind cafes and diners and a shop that sells nothing but socks. The bikes you can rent aren't fancy, but they're way more affordable than the rental shops. In my opinion, a combination of bicycle and public transit is the best way to travel around Portland. There's a bus stop on the same block that will take you downtown in 20 minutes.
Kristin was very welcoming, and showed us the house. The room is really private in the sense, that it is downstairs. We were tired after three days of driving, and really needed a bed to crash. And this place was it. In the morning, Kip made a lovely breakfast of rice and lentils. Tired of eating bread, we enjoyed the food. Would love to come back again to the hospitality of Kip and Kristin.
Kristin was an AMAZING host! She made me feel welcome and comfortable and gave me the all the resources I needed to explore Portland. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable, the breakfasts were delicious and the neighborhood the house is located in was really neat! She was SUPER communicative throughout and always available.
THANK YOU KRISTIN AND KIP!

So you are visiting Portland huh? Well you've come to the right place. More than just a place to stay, we are committed to helping everyone get the most of their time here. We have made a full time cause of learning and experiencing the best of Portland's culture, be it food, nightlife outdoors or any of the myriad of "quirky" events that "keep Portland weird". Seriously, whether here for business or vacation, Portland is too much fun to miss out by staying in a hotel and not knowing what to do or where to go. We like biking, drinking beer, listening to local bands/DJs, going dancing, watching soccer, exploring the wilderness and participating in anything that is new and sounds fun! We enjoy our city every day and want to share that with you.
