Welcome! Your super cozy private bedroom is comfortable for 2 and breakfast is included! We live here because of access to EVERYTHING Portland via bikes or mass transit.

The Space

In your large cozy room, you have a REAL full sized bed with a great mattress. We have tons of bedding and warm stuff if you feel like you need it. Includes Wifi of course. It's private as there are no other bedrooms on that level. The house itself is always kept quite clean.

About check in and check out times: We are really flexible on this and are okay if you want to drop off stuff early- we clean the room and wash 100% of the bedding between every guest. If you want to come in early, you may have to give us some extra time to make the room ready but we are okay with that.

Guest Access

You can use the kitchen or simply enjoy our free awesome breakfasts. We are casual and not stuffy and welcome everyone (LGBT friendly). We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so please use the living room, dining room, kitchen and laundry room. Check out the pictures and enjoy the outside space as well!

Interaction with Guests

Our approach to airbnb, com is a little warmer and more personal. Click the profile video to the right to see what we're about. We have received tons of positive feedback from our guests. Our time is our own, (self-employed) so we are totally open to joining you and showing you the best stuff around or leaving you on your own to enjoy the city! I would say we are completely easy going and have no agenda other than to see you have a good time. If you have any special concerns or requests, click the "CONTACT US" button to your right and we will do our best to accommodate you.

The Neighborhood

When visiting Portland, where you stay is critical. You want to have easy access to everything. We have that. Our neighborhood is called "Sellwood-Moreland"- you can look it up online and see why it is such a desirable place to be. You can hop a bus and be downtown in 11 minutes! Our home is equal quick walking distance between 2 fantastic parks. We are also within a easy 15 minute walk to Reed College. We have 5 microbreweries and about 15 restaurants within 4 blocks. We can certainly make experienced recommendations! All of Portland is safe, but Sellwood is super safe. Everyone you will meet is super friendly.

Getting around

You won't need a car if you stay with us. Mass Transit is simple (there's an APP for that- "pdxbus"). The bus stop is a 2 min walk from our home and will get you wherever you want to go. We are also a short distance from the Springwater Corridor which is a great bike-only paved road that travels up the east side of the river.

There are bike shops in our neighborhood that will rent bikes for $35.00 per bike per day. We suggest you use our bikes instead. We charge $5 per bike per day (big savings-you can do the math). This also includes everything you need including helmets, lights, locks, cables, rain gear, gloves, bike basket cover, AND EVEN A CARGO TRAILER. Please note, you will be required to wear helmets when you borrow bikes. That is NOT optional.

If you have a destination in the Portland metro area that is not easily accessible via mass transit, or if you would like us to pick you up and/or take you to the airport, we are willing to drive you for $20 (a cab will cost you $40-50 including tip). Also, we have a vehicle for rent on a website similar to AirBnb (but for cars). You can discuss this further with us if you like.

Other Things to Note

We want to help you look back on your Portland stay as one of your best trips ever. We would encourage you to eat breakfast with us (since it is free and we have a great cook). We have a ton of books about how to "do" Portland, whether restaurants, outdoors, nightlife, etc. Borrow whatever interests you then borrow our bikes and see the city this way!

1) Hairdryer, Towels, Shampoo, and Soap- Yes, we have these for you, leave yours at home and save space.

2) Tea Kettle- Yes, we have one for you along with 40 types of tea. Use it in the kitchen or in your room, your choice!

3) We are kid friendly- older ones would do better as our house isn't "toddler proofed". There ARE 2 parks with playground stuff within a 5 min walk :)

4) $5 cleaning fee; we wash EVERY piece of bed linen between EVERY guest stay and deep clean the bathroom DAILY because that's what we would want if we were guests. You only pay this fee once and it is included in your booking. :)

5) Smoking is only allowed outside on the front and back porches.

6) Well-behaved dogs are allowed as long as they stay outside in our fenced back yard. If you have a special situation with your dog, we'd be happy to discuss it with you.

  • First off: We have stayed in many airbnbs in the past few years and this has been our absolute favourite. Kristin and Kip are amazing hosts - they made us feel incredibly welcome and we had lots of great chats with them and the other couple who was staying at the house. We even accompanied them to a great brewery to watch a football world cup match. Kristin and Kip go out of their way to make sure their guests are able to experience Portland like a local would, they had lots of really cool tips and suggestions. They really took the time to give us a good introduction and supplied us with maps. Its obvious how much they love Portland and they know some amazing spots. If you are planning a trip to Kristin and Kip's house you can also look forward to Kip's amazing cooked breakfasts, a great way to start the day and we discovered some delicious food (If you get the chance try the maple syrup hot sauce - it's delicious). Their house is exactly as pictured, impeccably clean and has a very welcoming feel to it - we loved the decor. We had the basement room, which was a great plus as Portland was very warm during our visit, but our room was very cool and quiet. The room was really spacious and the bed was very comfy. Kristin and Kip live in a great neighbourhood - it's beautiful, safe and calm, but there are some great restaurants and bars less than 5 minutes walk away (We loved the Burgers at Kay's bar and the beer selection at Oak's Bottom Public House). Portland is a great city with a really unique atmosphere and you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a good time here. Food is cheap and it is GOOD! Having lunch at one of the many foodcarts is a must! We would also recommend renting bikes from Kristin and Kip, cycling along the river and exploring the SE Portland neighbourhoods. It gave us a great sense of the city and Portland has a very good cycling infrastructure, so it's really fun and safe. We can't wait to come back to Portland and we can absolutely recommend staying with Kristin and Kip. You guys are great, thanks for making our stay so awesome!

  • Kristin and Kip are simply wonderful hosts. Staying with them proved a real treat for us; we found riveting conversations, hearty breakfasts, and sincere hospitality. The location of their home is great for exploring a broader sense of what Portland has to offer, and their recommendations thoroughly enhanced our experience. Potential guests have every reason to trust the many favorable reviews Kristin and Kip have received.

  • Kristin's place was a great value for the money. She and her partner were great hosts--very kind and helpful as we got to know the (amazing) city. I'd definitely recommend staying with them!

  • Kip and Kristin were fantastic hosts! They were really helpful with telling me where the best places to go were, whether that was a restaurant, bar, food cart pod, or park. I would tell them what I wanted to do/where I wanted to go and they would suggest the best timing to do all of it. The breakfasts were unique and delicious every morning. And at the end of every day they would ask how it went and shared their own experiences as well. Probably some of the most hospitable, helpful, and genuinely caring people I've met. Their first priority is truly to make sure you are having the best time possible. I was there for a week and it was my first time to Portland, and I can say that not only do I feel comfortable with the city now, but I left with friendships that I will have for good. You really couldn't pick a better place to stay.

  • Kip and Kristin were great hosts. Kristin picked us up from the airport, and talked to us about things that she knew would be happening while we'd be there. Both were capable cooks for breakfast, and they encouraged us to ask if we had questions about anything.

The neighborhood is quiet, and nice for relaxing. We had chosen this place because of the location, Kristin's description, previous reviews, and the bikes. Sadly, we didn't use the bikes, but only because Portland has a great bus and rail system. If you plan to visit far away places, it's a very easy way to reach most anything in or around Portland.

All in all, I would recommend choosing this fine establishment for your stay in Portland. The price is great, breakfast is at 9, and your hosts are more genuinely pleasant than the hotel employees.

  • Just came back from the trip. The stay at Laus' was one of the highlights in our trip. Kristin and Kip were awesome hosts, who played a great role in our visits to Portland. Highly recommended!!!!

Let me start with our arrival. My parents and I arrived at the Portland airport in the early afternoon. K+K came and picked us up, and as a bonus, they drove through the city and showed us a bit of Portland. Their house is located in a very sweet and safe residential community. Very cute and exactly same as they describe in their BnB profile. Since we have three people, they re-arranged the basement room to accommodate our needs.

After we settled down, they gave us a quick run-down about what we could do in Portland considering we were only there for a day and half. Their recommendation on attractions and place to hit was really helpful. My parents and I enjoyed so much.

Unfortunately, due to the weather, we ended up not riding bikes, which was a pity. But I would highly recommend to rent bikes from K+K. Portland is such a cyclist-friendly city. It would be fun to join the crowd if you have a chance.

Their breakfast is very different and unique (pumpkin lento soup and anther Indian dish I cannot remember). They are all delicious.

All in all, if you will visit Portland soon, definitely check K+K's place out! You won't regret it!

  • While traveling by yourself to a new city can be an overwhelming experience, Kristin and Kip were awesome hosts who gave me tips and tricks to get around the city and were generally just cool people to hang out with. Right as I walked in the front door, their warm and friendly demeanor reinforced my decision to stay with them (especially since this was my first airbnb experience). Armed with maps and local guides, K+K told me all the best places to visit and how to get there conveniently from the bus stop located at the end of the street. An amazing bike ride is just a few blocks away and they were equipped with bikes and helmets. On top of all this awesomeness were the breakfasts I got to enjoy before venturing out, which were so much better than any continental breakfast from a hotel. The room I stayed in was very spacious and private, everything was clean and tidy. At one point I got lost while venturing out and felt comfortable enough to call Kristin and ask for some help. She was super sweet and called back to make sure I had found my way, which I really appreciated since I was traveling solo. Overall, I had a great time in Portland and I'm so glad I stayed with Kristen and Kip. I would definitely stay with them again and encourage visitors to Portland to do the same.

  • Our stay with Kristin and Kip was wonderful! We were used to staying in more private settings where contact with the host is minimal, but we were all pleasantly surprised at how comfortable we were and how much we enjoyed our stay here! Kristin and Kip are so nice and accommodating. If you stay here, and I recommend that you do, don't skip breakfast - it was delicious!!

  • Very warm hospitality. Only stayed one night but it was a good night's sleep, good breakfast, clean and comfortable. Bedroom is in basement but nicely decorated with comfortable bed.

  • My sister and I had the most lovely stay in Portland, and much of it was due to our wonderful experience staying with Kristen and Kip! Their cozy home is located in a quiet, shady side street within walking distance of many great cafés, grocery stores, etc. (with plentiful street parking). We arrived a half hour later than we had anticipated, but K&K were very flexible and it was not a problem! The moment we arrived, Kip gave us the tour of the house (we stayed in the basement room, but there is also a room listing on the ground floor -- both are great! The basement room is more private, if that's a consideration, but the bathroom is located on the ground floor closer to the other bedroom), and helped us plan out our strategy for getting to the Convention Center to pick up our race numbers (we came to run the Rock and Roll Portland Half Marathon -- also strongly recommended!), and suggested Nicholas Restaurant (a Lebanese/Middle Eastern place) and their Vegetarian Mezze Platter (which was incredible!) and roaming around Alberta with a stop at Salt & Stray for our afternoon. We followed up on all of Kip's thoughtful suggestions and had a wonderful day exploring Portland!

But even better, when we found out that our bus wouldn't get us to the starting line on time, Kristen woke up at 6:30AM on SUNDAY to make sure that we had some Tikka Masala with basmati rice (made by Kip) and coffee for breakfast before driving us to the starting line!

Why would you stay anywhere else in Portland? This will definitely be our top pick when planning our next trip!

So you are visiting Portland huh? Well you've come to the right place. More than just a place to stay, we are committed to helping everyone get the most of their time here. We have made a full time cause of learning and experiencing the best of Portland's culture, be it food, nightlife outdoors or any of the myriad of "quirky" events that "keep Portland weird". Seriously, whether here for business or vacation, Portland is too much fun to miss out by staying in a hotel and not knowing what to do or where to go. We like biking, drinking beer, listening to local bands, going dancing, watching soccer, exploring the wilderness and participating in anything that is new and sounds fun! We enjoy our city every day and want to share that with you.
