Welcome! Your super clean, cozy private bedroom is comfortable for 2 (but has an extra futon for 2 more) and breakfast is included! We live here because of access to EVERYTHING Portland via bikes or mass transit. Save money by enjoying an awesome breakfast and skipping the rental car.
In your large cozy room, you have a REAL full sized bed with a great mattress. We have tons of bedding and warm stuff if you feel like you need it. Includes Wifi of course. It's private as there are no other bedrooms on that level. The house itself is always kept quite clean.
About check in and check out times: We are really flexible on this and are okay if you want to drop off stuff early- we clean the room and wash 100% of the bedding between every guest. If you want to come in early, you may have to give us some extra time to make the room ready but we are okay with that.
You can use the kitchen or simply enjoy our free awesome breakfasts. We are casual and not stuffy and welcome everyone (LGBT friendly). We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so please use the living room, dining room, kitchen and laundry room. Check out the pictures and enjoy the outside space as well!
Our approach to airbnb, com is a little warmer and more personal. Click the profile video to the right to see what we're about. We have received tons of positive feedback from our guests. Our time is our own, (self-employed) so we are totally open to joining you and showing you the best stuff around or leaving you on your own to enjoy the city! I would say we are completely easy going and have no agenda other than to see you have a good time. If you have any special concerns or requests, click the "CONTACT US" button to your right and we will do our best to accommodate you.
When visiting Portland, where you stay is critical. You want to have easy access to everything. We have that. Our neighborhood is called "Sellwood-Moreland"- you can look it up online and see why it is such a desirable place to be. You can hop a bus and be downtown in 11 minutes! Our home is equal quick walking distance between 2 fantastic parks. We are also within a easy 15 minute walk to Reed College. We have 5 microbreweries and about 15 restaurants within 4 blocks. We can certainly make experienced recommendations! All of Portland is safe, but Sellwood is super safe. Everyone you will meet is super friendly.
You won't need a car if you stay with us. Mass Transit is simple (there's an APP for that- "pdxbus"). The bus stop is a 2 min walk from our home and will get you wherever you want to go. We are also a short distance from the Springwater Corridor which is a great bike-only paved road that travels up the east side of the river.
There are bike shops in our neighborhood that will rent bikes for $35.00 per bike per day. We suggest you use our bikes instead. We charge $5 per bike per day (big savings-you can do the math). This also includes everything you need including helmets, lights, locks, cables, rain gear, gloves, bike basket cover, AND EVEN A CARGO TRAILER. Please note, you will be required to wear helmets when you borrow bikes. That is NOT optional.
If you have a destination in the Portland metro area that is not easily accessible via mass transit, or if you would like us to pick you up and/or take you to the airport, we are willing to drive you for $10. Also, we have a vehicle for rent on a website similar to AirBnb (but for cars). You can discuss this further with us if you like.
We want to help you look back on your Portland stay as one of your best trips ever. We would encourage you to eat breakfast with us (since it is free and we have a great cook). We have a ton of books about how to "do" Portland, whether restaurants, outdoors, nightlife, etc. Borrow whatever interests you then borrow our bikes and see the city this way!
1) Hairdryer, Towels, Shampoo, and Soap- Yes, we have these for you, leave yours at home and save space.
2) Tea Kettle- Yes, we have one for you along with 40 types of tea. Use it in the kitchen or in your room, your choice!
3) We are kid friendly- older ones would do better as our house isn't "toddler proofed". There ARE 2 parks with playground stuff within a 5 min walk :)
4) $5 cleaning fee; we wash EVERY piece of bed linen between EVERY guest stay and deep clean the bathroom DAILY because that's what we would want if we were guests. You only pay this fee once and it is included in your booking. :)
5) Smoking is only allowed outside on the front and back porches.
6) Well-behaved dogs are allowed as long as they stay outside in our fenced back yard. If you have a special situation with your dog, we'd be happy to discuss it with you.
Kristin and Kip were awesome hosts. They really are invested in helping you navigate and discover Portland. They are home majority of the time and their home is so warm and inviting. Because they are around so much you truly get to know them and it is a very personal stay. They envelop what I feel to be the essence of airbnb. Kristin and Kip are truly nice people and I highly recommend them for your next Portland stay!
Kristin's family are great Airbnb hosts. The guest rooms are in their home and they sincerely open the place to their visitors. You never feel you are intruding or inconveniencing them - more like you are visiting some relatives you somehow did not get to know before. The house is in a great neighborhood with plenty of Portland coffee shops, brew spots, and restaurants nearby. Count on Kristin & Kip for recommendations near and farther away.
There is an easy bus to downtown nearby. We actually walked all the way to downtown Powell's bookstore which took 2 hours with stops to browse stores on the way. We also walked on the trails in the wildlife refuge which is very quiet and beautiful. If you are not a walker, take advantage of the bikes and get the true Portland experience!
Our experience renting with Kip and Kristin was like staying with good friends we just hadn't met yet! Arranging our arrival time was as easy as could be, and we felt very comfortable with them from the moment we arrived. The room was exactly as advertised, and their neighborhood safe and completely charming. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and we (email hidden)ly conversation before we went on to explore the city for the day. I'd definitely book with them again! Thank you so much, Kip & Kristin!
Wonderful place! Great location, beautiful house, comfy bed, big room! Hosts were so friendly and helpful. We had a very lovely time and would definitely stay here again & highly recommend it!

Kristin & Kip are really sweet folks. They took care us like family, shared invaluable information on relocating to Portland, were interesting conversationalists, fed us like kings: they were just all around cool folks. I would recommend them to anyone, & I almost wish I had to continue AirBnb'ing so I could cozy up at their place.
We stayed with Kristin and Kip on our West Coast college tour. Immediately upon arrival Kip and Kristen were incredibly warm, inviting and helpful. They helped us find great places to visit in Portland. We also had wonderful conversation with them in the evening and morning. The bed was incredibly comfortable also.
Thank you for a great stay!
Our stay with Kristin and Kip was wonderful. The house is inviting, the hosts are inviting and everything was easy. They immediately made us feel comfortable and at home. Add good food and an unbeatable price and this is a big big win. Highly recommended. Thanks.
My 18 year-old son and I had a great time at Kristin and Kip's. They went out of their way to help us feel comfortable, including asking us out on a midnight mystery bike ride. The bed was comfortable and they thought of all the details. We'd recommend them to anyone who is looking for a comfortable place and a fun time.
Kristin & Kip.
The most welcoming, helpful, friendly (and youngest looking) couple we've met on our travels!
They constantly went out of their way to ensure our stay at their home & in Portland was one we would never forget.
From picking us up late from our delayed train, to mapping out the Portland 'must sees', to cooking amazing 'REAL' American breakfasts, to lending us their bikes, to doing our washing...all with a smile on their face!
They're great hosts & we would recommend this place to anyone.
A wonderful couple who at sure to //Keep Portland Weird//
