This room is furnished with a Full size bed, a desk, 2 large closets, large mirror and an AC. There is a large window that lets in moderate light. The room is very accurate to the picture that is provided. The location of the window is adjacent to the other apartments in the building, you may hear the neighbors upstairs at times. A set of ear plugs are provided should the noise be a bother; it's occasional but I like to be very clear for guests. I have 2 other rooms available that are very sunny and are a bit more quiet. This room is for 1 person. This Is A Great Room For The Price!
Guests will have access to the fully equipped kitchen, shared bathroom with shower, washer/dryer and backyard/garden.
Interaction with Guests
3 other rooms in the apartment are rented on this site. You may have interactions with other guests in the common areas. I work very long days so you may only see me on occasion. My roommate Dave is home more often, he serves as a host when I am not available. You can view my other rooms under the "Other Listings" section.
The neighborhood is a Puerto Rican immigrant community. Mixed with old gritty industrial areas and new luxury buildings. All kinds of creative types have been filing into Bushwick and a considerable amount of trendiness is trickling in from its ultra-hip neighbor to the west, Williamsburg. New dive bars, bodegas, and gallery spaces continue to flourish, fueled by the intrepid movers and shakers that are pouring into Bushwick’s converted loft spaces. Although Bushwick is busy reinventing itself, a somewhat grungy heart still beats beneath its remodeled exterior. The Neighborhood Is Very Safe. I have been here for 10 years without any issues. My guests have never had any issues as well. There are many people around on the streets at all hours. We are right next to the train for those who are out late in the evening as well.
We are 1 block away from the Dekalb stop L train, 15 minutes to the city and a few blocks away from the JMZ train. USE HOPSTOP FOR SUBWAY DIRECTIONS! It is also available as an app. This will tell you much more clear detailed instructions on getting here from the airport and getting around the city in general. The house is approximately: 20 minutes away from LaGuardia Airport 25 minutes away from JFK Airport 35-45 minutes away from Newark Airport (these are average times with minimal traffic)
Other Things to Note
The rooms are cleaned before arrival and upon exit. Fresh linens and towels are provided. I do not provide toiletries. The bathroom is shared and can be busy at times in the morning, I like to remind all guests to please keep bathroom time to a minimum for other guests. Check in time is 2:00. Check out time is 12:00 NOON. I unfortunately do not store luggage or personals after checkout time. The earliest guests can arrive is 2:00 to allow former guests to depart and rooms to be cleaned. There is a quick turnover with guests and exchanging keys is difficult with my work. Please arrange travel accordingly. Profile pictures are very helpful to have up; it's nice to have a face with a name. (I Unfortunately Do Not Allow Guests Under The Age Of 18 Or Guests With Serious Medical Conditions).

Marks place was great. It was exactly as described. I had plenty of privacy and checking in was as easy as it could possibly be.
I had a lovely time! Sadly I did not get to see Mark, since he works so late. Regardless though, he takes plenty of considerate measures to make sure your stay is very comfortable (good organization of spaces in both private rooms and common areas to store belongings, well stocked towels, coffee and tea to help yourself, etc.) The space itself is situated among some great bars and restaurants to check out, and the coffee shop up the street is fantastic. Missing Bushwick and its lovely locals already! Thanks for providing such a great place, Mark!
professional host. everything is set to take care of the airbnb guests. additional towels, badsheets, stocked kitchen and renovated toilet, good a/c - organized and clean. apartment is large, next to a good coffee shop and an L subway stop. room is basic but with all you need for a few days stay.
Mark's place is great. Just a block away from subway. Clean and exactly as seen in pictures. Well organized and easy to understand instructions. Highly recommend if you are planning to explore NYC while in need of a place to crash.
I enjoyed staying here for 8 days. The set up was a bit like a relaxed, friendly hostel which worked for me because I didn't feel like I was invading anyone's space when I pottered around and used the kitchen. The other guests were really quiet and considerate and I got a good sleep every night after long days exploring NY. I really appreciated having access to a washer and dryer, strong wi-fi connection, air conditioner, good quality linens, huge wardrobes, kitchen and L train ( the most interesting line where you see great fashions) very close by. Mark was very helpful. Bushwick is a great area because it has lots of different cultures converging. It's not as OTT as Williamsberg but does have a good bar scene. Wander around and you will find some great ethnic foods, and around troutman street you will see lots of graffiti art and enjoy many exciting bars/cafes. This room is good for a single traveller- good price so I had more money to spend on other things. If you're a couple or have a bit more money, I'd recommend the "green" room. It's big and really stunning with lovely natural light and also has access to a backyard where there is a mulberry tree!
Clean, quiet, great location, everything was very pleasant and worked just like it was supposed to.
Very nice place to stay ! Everything was well organized, clean and welcoming. Highly recommanded !

About the Host, Mark
I am an artist originally from Rhode Island. I have been living in Bushwick for over 10 years. My roommate/friend Dave is a musician and here to help when I am not available. As a host I like make myself available if needed but otherwise try to give all guests their privacy.
