It was quiet and close to the freeway.
I haven´t met Melissa personnaly, but communication beforehand was good and within a narrow time frame. I got to Seattle pretty late, but the apartment was open with keys inside. The room looked exactly like the photos pictured it. It is a nice small apartment, perfectly located if you need to go to UW. But also going downtown is not far...the bus stop is just 2 blocks away, or you could even walk or rent a bike (a rental is located in walkable distance). Neighborhood was good-I guess-I didn´t meet that many people, but UW was just about to start. The apartment got everything you need: bed, room for clothes, kitchen (new fridge and icer), water filtering pitcher, toaster, silverware for 1-2 persons, a desk (which is good, if you need to work!) and a bathroom, although the shower was quite a challenge to use for tall people.
We didn't meet Melissa at all. The room is as described. Unfortunately there was no headlight in the living room. Besides that everything was all right. The room itself is located in a U-shaped backyard containing more condos. I would compare it to a multi-room motel room. Since we were just looking for a place to sleep at that was fine.
This is a very spartan, basic accommodation whose main asset is location. We had several events in the U District we wanted to be able to walk to, and it served us well in that respect.
The apartment itself is very, very "undergrad." It's that first 1-bedroom place you have sophomore year after you're tired of roommates. It doesn't have any charm (and it's at/below ground level), but you get a clean place with a small bedroom, living room, basic kitchen, and bathroom. They provide clean towels and coat hangars, and there's a quarters laundry in the building (which was handy). Also, the ground floor location makes loading and unloading your car super easy.
In a nutshell, if you want to be in the U District and have off-street parking, and/or to have your own apartment rather than a single room, this is a good, simple option.
Check-in/check-out was really easy.
I will admit that when the cab pulled in to the parking lot here I was wondering if I'd chosen poorly. It doesn't look like much from the outside. It's also a ground floor apartment and since I was traveling alone that made me a bit nervous.
However, the apartment is clean and comfortable and the complex is quiet. Once I got to walk around the neighborhood my safety fears were allayed. It's a great location if you have to get to the UW campus and I would stay here again.
The one drawback is the shower. I'm 5'6" and the shower head is so low the water was hitting me in the chest. I had to duck to rinse my hair out. It was a minor inconvenience but one to be aware of if you're especially tall.
The apartment was clean and simple. Good location, just a quick walk to Portage Bay Cafe and other restaurants.
Melissa was very friendly and helpful with any issue related with accomodation in Seattle
