Spacious room ideally located!

Apartment - Private room · Barcelona, Mexico City, Federal District 06600, Mexico

This spacious room furnished with a desk, couch and a cozy bed is located near Reforma Ave Alameda Central, Insurgentes, Zona Rosa & the trendy Roma neighborhood. Markets, bars, theaters, malls, restaurants, metrobus / subway stations are all nearby.

The Art Deco building that houses the apartment has a beautiful interior with a prominent courtyard. The space itself has original bas relief moldings framing the high ceilings. The welcoming living room is decorated with pieces of my art, and the entire apartment is dotted with fresh greenery. A stack of guidebooks to the city are at your disposal, as well as anything else in my library. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything you need to cook, and coffee and tea are free all day.

This is an ideal room for arty travelers and writers looking for alternative housing or just students looking for a cheap, fanciful place to stay.

There is one shared bathroom in apartment.

Free WIFI, guidebooks, rechargeable public transport cards, kitchen, washing machine, earplugs (if needed), a Mexican pay-as-you-go cel phone (rechargeable at any convenience store), once-a-week housecleaning service (included in the price).

Optional: I am a Spanish teacher for an American company that offers courses for expats living around the world. As such, I am happy to offer my services in the way of classes, and helpful pointers on key words or phrases are free of charge.

In addition to Spanish, I speak English, French and Italian fluently. I am happy to recommend interesting places to visit in the city, especially spaces and events connected to art and culture.

Open-minded, easy-going, friendly guests are very welcome in my home. In light of some unfortunate past experiences with one guest in particular, I have to stress that this is a gay-friendly space.

Part of the reason I rent my space is to have the opportunity to meet people from around the world. I enjoy leisurely conversations on the arts, travel, languages, sharing experiences from different cultures and exchanging points of view. I welcome you to invite friends you might have or make here to the apartment. It’s all about mutual respect and communication in the household. I want my guests to feel they are in their own home.
Also, non-smokers and smokers are welcome in my house.

  • Elías has such a incredible apartment with high ceilings, very ventilated and a really spacious bedroom with a confortable living room and a small garden. Besides this, it is near to 2 metro stations that can bring you to almost every place in the city.

He was a wonderful host all the time, very attentive and kind. He knows so much about the cultural, history and art scene of Mexico, helping us (me and my girlfriend) a lot to know places that we originally wouldn't know as a default tourists. Definitely he made the diference on our trip.

  • I had a very nice time during my short step over at Elías place. The room is clean and the apartment pretty charming.
I really appreciated that it is was very easy to get there. It's only one block from the metro station, not far from the historic center of Mexico city and also very close to this wonderful crafts market called "Cuidadela"
Elías is sweet and very frendly and his area seem a very good place to share a real mexican city life experience.
    I definitly recommend this place!

  • We had good communication with Elias prior to arriving in DF, but once we were there, he did not seem very interested in talking with us. The room was fine, if bare bones, but it overlooks a commercial street with heavy and loud traffic on weekday mornings. Elias had a friend over several times who smoked and it made the room unbearably smokey. On the Friday night we were staying there we went to sleep around 1:30 AM, and were woken up around 3:15 by Elias arriving home with friends who proceeded to have a loud, drunken and smokey party. I finally went out to ask them to be quiet around 5 and they did not leave or quiet down until after 5:30 AM. My fiance had taken ill with food poisoning and really needed to sleep so she stayed in bed all of Saturday and missed a day of our planned activities. If she was feeling better we might have left to go to another hotel or airbnb because we were extremely unhappy with the situation. Elias finally apologized to us on Sunday but we were not happy and had a very different experience than most of the reviewers seemed to. I would not recommend staying here.

  • Elias's apartment is in a fantastic location in a really cool old building with very high ceilings. The artwork on his walls are his own pieces and they are cool and impressive. The accommodations are clean and spacious. Elias went waaay above and beyond with helping us. We drove our camper to MX and he arranged a protected parking around the corner from his place. He also allowed us to bring our bicycles into his apartment. He give us extensive details on the neighborhood and the subway system. I couldn't recommend it more.
