It has a close location to the center square (1.5 blocks) yet it is tucked behind another house to keep the noise down and make it private and safe. High ceilings and big windows make this casa feel bright, open, and inviting. This garden casa sleeps one couple easily but is made to house a family of 4 or 3-4 good friends. Casa Dos Pescados in Sayulita is located on Calle Caracol, and the house number is 3B. Here is how you get there: once in Sayulita at the city plaza/city center, which is on Ave. Revoluccion, go South (or just past the plaza with the beach on your right) 1 block, and take a right on Calle Caracol. It will be the 2nd house on your left right behind Casa las Palmas and uses shared stairs (the left gate to Casa las Palmas is the correct gate; go up the yellow stairs and then up the red stairs. If you hit Sayulita taxi you have gone one house too far. Walk up the stairs and the 2nd gate will be the entrance to your hidden casa. Easy peasy!
Since you need to eat, and eat well, there are many restaurants close by! Aaleyia’s is a stone’s throw away (try the chili relleno or the breakfast special), Sayulita Café (the mocajete is a must try), Espresso Sayulita (strong coffee and great huevos rancheros), and Chocobana (yes, try the chocobana!) are all within 2 blocks, in addition to many more you should try. For a cheaper, faster meal don’t miss the fish tacos, which are famous here, or even a shrimp empanada, made fresh and filled with gooey queso.
Your neighbor will be Chingaling who is a fun local that was born and raised in Sayulita (in the house he is in now) and is a lifelong fisherman. For $200 (plus tip) you can take a panga (small boat) with 3-5 people out in the ocean and snorkel the Marrieta Islands, whale watch, and still have time to fish for dorado (mahi mahi), sierra (mackerel), rooster, bonito (small tuna), and many other fish. Either Chingaling himself or his partner and cousin Jaime can take you out for the day. Just holler over the wall (he lives in the corner house) or ask Jose Ramos (info below) how to connect to go fishing. Honestly the fishing is amazing and I have never come back without enough pescado to make ceviche, sashimi, and have a nice grill out (oh yeah, there is a bbq included to grill up some grub). If you ask nicely you may even be able to try your luck at spearfishing. Bring some cervezas and some fresh chicharrones for a full day of fun that you will never forget.
How do you get here from the airport? If you need a taxi to Casa Dos Pescados it takes about 45 minutes to get to Sayulita. Please arrange with my other neighbor and friend Jose Ramos (also a Sayulita native, born and raised) who owns his own taxi and tour company for over 30 years and can offer a safe and clean way to get to your casa. He will meet you at the airport when you arrive. It costs approximately $55 USD but please double check as prices my change. Tell him Casa Dos Pescados sent you and they will have some cold beers waiting for you in the car! You can also grab the bus which is 25 pesos (2 bucks) and takes about an hour and fifteen minutes. Jose Ramos is also the property manager along with his wife Carmen so if you need anything (water, tp, propane, lightbulb, etc) please ask him first, but of course do not hesitate to reach out to me as well and I will get it taken care of quickly.
I thank you for checking out my casa in Sayulita and as they say, “Mi Casa es su Casa!” Make yourself at home, grab a board for some great surfing, have a bucket of cervezas under an umbrella on the beach, meet some locals, and eat some great local food. There is live music nightly and several clubs to party at, salsa night at Don Pedros, and cheap beers all around. You are also free to chill out on your palapa with some music and a bottle of good tequila and hang in the hammock. Whatever floats your boat! I hope you love the laid back lifestyle of Sayulita as much as we do and we hope to see you over and over. Of course do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything or have questions or need ideas of what to do, and any and all thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated. Not at all! But the neighbors are awesome, and the property manager is just a couple houses away!
Thank you so much for having us at your cozy house in Sayulita. Casa Dos Pescados was absolutely perfect and just what we needed. The kitchen is so well equipped, the beds are very comfortable, and the house spacious. I stayed there with three friends and we loved the little patio for relaxing after an exhausting day at the beach ;-) or for some drinks at night! We could not have had a better time or stayed in a better place. The house is just a few footsteps from both the beach and the main plaza. There are plenty of shops around where we got everything we needed.
Chris is a great host! Very helpful and always responded to us immediately. The property managers is polite and helpful and his wife cleaned the house twice a week and is very sweet.
If we ever make it coming back to Sayulita, we make sure to stay there again.
Chris is a great host! Very helpful and always responded to us immediately. The is was our second trip to Sayulita and we had such a great time last year that we booked with Chris again this time. The location of the house is right next to everything! 2 minutes to the beach and just across the main square from all the shops and restaurants. The property managers are polite and helpful and the house keeper is very sweet.
we love the simplicity of the house and spent most morning on the palapa drinking coffee and watching the 2 resident iguanas lounge in the garden. An absolute perfect vacation with a thoughtful and attentive host.
This was the PERFECT home while my partner and I stayed in Sayulita!! The location was excellent - 2 blocks from the beach AND the plaza. Casa Dos Pescados has fabulous energy, tons of sunlight, was super clean, and very comfortable. We had coffee every morning on the front deck in the warm sun, then packed our lunch and headed the whopping 2 blocks to the beach. We bought groceries at a local market and made most of our meals at home, while also treating ourselves sometimes to "street meat" and cervezas! YUM!! The array of food choices in Sayulita causes my mouth to water even as I write this....:) The view from the roof is amazing and the outdoor shower hit the spot after a full day at the beach. We highly recommend Casa Dos Pescados as a vacation rental for those looking for a laid back, home away from home experience.
When I arrived and couldn't figure out how to get the gate open, Chris responded quickly with a phone call and Jose had already shown up to help. You might want to mention in your listing that there are two gates to pass through and the second one can be a little difficult but isn't locked. The location was very convenient to the beach, the center of town, shops, restaurants, the square and most importantly, the beach! The only surprise was the numerous steps and climb to the door. It could pose a real problem for anyone with health issues. It was a good workout though! I don't know how long it has been since you've been to your property, but It no longer looks as fresh as the pictures. The steps are not the bright color having grown a lot of mold, covered in leaves and bushes hanging over them, giving an appearance of some neglect. The outdoor covered area was quite dark and uninviting, but the little patio was bright and had a useful table with two chairs. The back of the house on the way to the outside shower, was also dark and uninviting. We didn't use this area at all. It was good having use of the beach umbrella mat and little cooler. They made our experience more enjoyable. Indoors was adequate for our needs, a pretty well equipped kitchen including a blender and toaster oven, but we had to wash most kitchen and dinnerware as they were dusty. The refrigerator was nice and big by Mexican standards, and had ice cube trays in the freezer. The bedroom was roomy and bright with windows letting in the sunshine, but the living area not so much. We had to keep the curtains on the only window closed, so as not to see the dark walkway and neighbor's dirty laundry piled in their laundry room. This time of year, the house stayed pretty comfortable with the use of the overhead fans but they were pretty noisey when running. Fortunately, we didn't need them at night. There weren't enough blankets for the unusually cool nights. We used all three beds but had no linens for the smallest one. It was a good thing we brought a couple of blankets with us! The king bed was comfortable, but the twin was the worst I have ever experienced. I guess if I were a child or teenager it would have been ok, but I'm not. The other little sleeping platform needs a better, thicker mat. Again, it might work for a child but not at all comfortable for an adult. There were plenty of bath linens and the beach towels were greatly appreciated. The shower had plenty of hot water for washing after long, fabulous days on the beach, but it might be time for new shower heads. Can't say enough about what a fantastic place we found in the town of Sayulita! It was not our first visit and definitely...
Great location near the beach and near town. We stayed 7 nights with our five year old son. The apartment was a great fit. We took the advice of Chris and previous guests and booked a boat trip through the neighbor (Chingaling) - this was a highlight of the trip.
Dos Pescados is a magical place. Chris was extremely responsive, quickly and his home was a perfect getaway in Sayulita. Its in a great location since its walkable to everything (no need for a golf cart rental) -- shops, mercados, restaurants, bars, beach -- all within blocks from the house.
The view as well from the palapa is priceless...
Private, spacious, quiet apartment in a great location a few blocks from the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed out stay here!

About the Host, Chris
I will try anything twice! Love to cycle, feed my friends and family, hike, kayak fish, backpack, and surf. I love to smoke meat (have a 50 pound smoker!) and one day wish to have my own BBQ diner. Our home is full of love and very cozy, and we hope you agree.
Eat, drink, and be merry!
