The space

Clean, quiet and bright private bedroom in brownstone Brooklyn.

The space:

The bedroom has a keyed door for privacy, and a full sized bed, desk and closet. Linens are professionally laundered and we even provide towels. The room has a one, large southern-facing window overlooking a quiet street with lots of trees. Common living room, bathroom and kitchen is shared with just two other people. Price above is for one person.

The home:

The bedroom is on the top floor of a three-story brownstone which was built in 1899. It is located just one block from the subway, just a 15 minute ride to Wall Street. The house has lots of historic charm, and lots of modern updates like an updated kitchen and bathroom, hardwood floors throughout, and amenities like secure WiFi and hi-def cable TV.

Lastly, we have a centrally-monitored security system and the house is cleaned regularly by our housekeeper. We inspect every bed and room after each guest to ensure cleanliness, and all of our mattresses are protected by top quality mattress covers which are regularly maintained. Full service laundry available on site by request.

The neighborhood:

We are close enough to the city to be extremely convenient at any time of day or night. At the same time, our location offers the authentic New York neighborhood experience. I stayed in Alex's airbnb for about 3 weeks. The room is very nicely located in a nice little neighborhood in Brooklyn with everything you need nearby and the subway only 2 blocks away. it can be far if you're traveling to upper manhattan everyday but otherwise it's very well-connected. The room has full sized bed a few drawers and a nice closet. There is a small table top and chair you can set things on; not quite big enough to do work at. The street gets a bit noisy at night because of cars with music and motorcycles, but otherwise very quiet. Alex was very timely with his responses to my questions and queries! Though check-in was a bit problematic. It wasn't clear that he wouldn't be there upon check-in so I was waiting outside at my check-in time ringing a doorbell with no answer. Finally, I called/messaged him and he told me how to get the key. If it wasn't pouring outside it wouldn't have been as frustrating, haha! Alex was was also very flexible! I was able to check out a few hours later than the designated time which was super helpful because I had an evening flight to catch and didn't want to sit at the airport all day. The only thing I would change would be that the kitchen and bathroom be a bit cleaner. There was supposed to be a cleaner that came once a week, but I never saw her till the last week of my stay. After she did come though, it was great! Thank you, Alex!! I would definitely stay again.

I had a great experience with Alex's apt. The location was excellent, close to two train stations and within walking distance you can easily find all you need (supermarket, laundry, restaurants). I felt safe all the time. The room is bright, quite, small but I spent there almost three months and I had enough space for all my belongings. Kitchen was always clean and tidy, maybe some more kitchen stuffs would be needed if you love cooking. Bathroom wasn't always very clean in spite of the weekly household. Roommates were nice and friendly. I hadn't met Alex, but he was helpful and I haven't had any issues. I recommend this place!

I very much enjoyed my stay here! The listing is accurate--The place is clean, furnished, and quiet by comparison to most of New York. There were fresh blankets, sheets, and towels ready for me when I got there which was an appreciated touch. The internet is fast and my roommates were always very sweet. Alex was very accessible and easy to get a hold of too! I had a great first AirBnB experience. The neighborhood is only a block away from the Subway and has a very positive vibe, with lots of trees and walkways compared to the rest of New York.

The airbnb bedroom is broom swept clean and small (almost twice the bed's width). When I arrived and unlocked the bedroom door, the spartan room contained a clean towel, clean bedding, clean new blinds over the large window, no curtains, no carpet on the hardwood floor, no bedbugs, no insects, a large and deep closet, a full bed, 2 pillows, a chair, a tiny desk, a radiator, no A/C, a small chest of drawers, a lamp, a ceiling light, & an extension cord. I visited in June, so I needed a small fan during warm nights. The wifi is fast enough to stream tv/vids/movies. The signal is strong and consistent. The neighborhood felt safe enough when I was around (before and after work). There are many trees, green spaces, postings/signs in Hebrew, and small school kids. Bring ear plugs if you do not want to overhear playful children calling to each other down on the sidewalk towards dusk. I saw no large dogs or sketchy loitering folks. Biggest hassle: the closest laundromat's last wash is at 8:30pm. The airbnb space reminded me of a quiet college dorm hall or a quiet boarding house. The 3 friendly housemates have lived there for over a year! They are fun people in their 20s who play cello and fantastic drinking games in front of a fan in the living room. Two of them are husband and wife. The living room contains a large, flat screen tv. The housemates cleared shelf space for my food in the crowded refrigerator. The living room and kitchen were hot in June. There was no A/C. The housemates leave the kitchen and bathroom cleaning to the housekeeper (who cleans on Thursdays). The maintenance man, Sergio, is a GENIUS with plumbing, locks/keys, painting, etc. He takes initiative to fix and maintain things even if nobody complained yet. Sergio communicates very well with tenants. I never met Alex in person, but he responds to texts promptly. When I requested a handle for the sliding bathroom door, Alex sent Sergio to install it ASAP.
