About this listing
Clean, quiet and bright private bedroom in brownstone Brooklyn.
The bedroom has a keyed door for privacy, and a full sized bed, desk and closet. Linens are professionally laundered and we even provide towels. The room has a one, large southern-facing window overlooking a quiet street with lots of trees. Common living room, bathroom and kitchen is shared with just two other people. Price above is for one person.
The bedroom is on the top floor of a three-story brownstone which was built in 1899. It is located just one block from the subway, just a 15 minute ride to Wall Street. The house has lots of historic charm, and lots of modern updates like an updated kitchen and bathroom, hardwood floors throughout, and amenities like secure WiFi and hi-def cable TV.
Lastly, we have a centrally-monitored security system and the house is cleaned regularly by our housekeeper. We inspect every bed and room after each guest to ensure cleanliness, and all of our mattresses are protected by top quality mattress covers which are regularly maintained. Full service laundry available on site by request.
We are close enough to the city to be extremely convenient at any time of day or night. At the same time, our location offers the authentic New York neighborhood experience. Lots of cultural, entertainment and culinary options to experiment with. We're a short walk to Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Library, Zoo and Museum as well as great bars, restaurants, shops and cafes.
Most of our guests are professionals and international travelers. Many of our guests are in NY for work or school. We have had visitors from every continent and we will be delighted to help orient you in the city which we love so much.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns, or if you would like help or suggestions about planning your trip to New York. Thanks!
Cash $300 security deposit due on arrival, fully refundable minus damage or loss.
Please respect other people's sleep hours (generally 10 pm - 8 am is quiet).
For the safety and comfort of all our guests, only registered guests may be in the house unless you have written permission from me.
Please leave the kitchen and common areas as you found them. THANK YOU!
p.s. Please note: if your airbnb profile is completely devoid of information, your reservation will not likely be accepted. We appreciate your understanding.
The airbnb bedroom is broom swept clean and small (almost twice the bed's width). When I arrived and unlocked the bedroom door, the spartan room contained a clean towel, clean bedding, clean new blinds over the large window, no curtains, no carpet on the hardwood floor, no bedbugs, no insects, a large and deep closet, a full bed, 2 pillows, a chair, a tiny desk, a radiator, no A/C, a small chest of drawers, a lamp, a ceiling light, & an extension cord. I visited in June, so I needed a small fan during warm nights.
The wifi is fast enough to stream tv/vids/movies. The signal is strong and consistent.
The neighborhood felt safe enough when I was around (before and after work). There are many trees, green spaces, postings/signs in Hebrew, and small school kids. Bring ear plugs if you do not want to overhear playful children calling to each other down on the sidewalk towards dusk. I saw no large dogs or sketchy loitering folks. Biggest hassle: the closest laundromat's last wash is at 8:30pm.
The airbnb space reminded me of a quiet college dorm hall or a quiet boarding house. The 3 friendly housemates have lived there for over a year! They are fun people in their 20s who play cello and fantastic drinking games in front of a fan in the living room. Two of them are husband and wife.
The living room contains a large, flat screen tv. The housemates cleared shelf space for my food in the crowded refrigerator. The living room and kitchen were hot in June. There was no A/C.
The housemates leave the kitchen and bathroom cleaning to the housekeeper (who cleans on Thursdays). The maintenance man, Sergio, is a GENIUS with plumbing, locks/keys, painting, etc. He takes initiative to fix and maintain things even if nobody complained yet. Sergio communicates very well with tenants.
I never met Alex in person, but he responds to texts promptly. When I requested a handle for the sliding bathroom door, Alex sent Sergio to install it ASAP.
Although it is very cheap, I would not recommend staying here. You will get more value at other places. I stayed here for 3 weeks and bathroom and kitchen were quite dirty.
We would have really appreciated having your feedback while you were here. During your stay, the housekeeper kept her regular twice weekly schedule and you never mentioned any concerns to me, her or anybody else. As you can imagine, we can not help resolve your issues unless you notify us.
We just inspected the kitchen, bathroom and common areas and all are nearly spotless. Also, we spoke to the other guests - none had any similar concerns. As you are new to Airbnb, please be mindful that future hosts will also appreciate knowing your concerns while they have an opportunity to correct any deficiencies.
We wish you a wonderful holiday season.
Alex is a friendly host. He listens to any and all concerns and needs of his clients. Highly recommended!
I has been 3 months. The neighborhood is great, you're close to 3 subway lines and others streets with many places to go.
Alex is a great host, and the roommates were very nice!
It's a good place for comeback!
I would recommend this place to everyone! I stayed 3months in Alex´house and it was great. He gave me a bigger room on the lower level and I had two nice flatmates there. The flat is near two subway stations (2,3,5), so you can get everywhere very quickly, in Manhattan and Brooklyn!
I stayed in a beautiful, bright and quiet room. The bed is comfortable and there was a lot of storage for my stuff. I had access to the kitchen, which is very convenient, and shared bathroom with only two other rooms in the same floor. I didn't see Alex very often, but he is a great host and whenever we met he asked how was my stay and if I needed anything. The brownstone is very close to the subway (line 3), and line 2 is two blocks further. I stayed there during Fall, and everyday I saw beautiful fall foliage on the way to the subway! There are several groceries (one is open 24 hours), pharmacies and several eateries nearby, including a good pizza place. There is a laundromat nearby that sometimes is crowded, but it also has drop-in service.
