  • A spacious, clean and convenient place to stay. Room is a little dark but a lovely patio.

  • Thanks - enjoyed our stay!

    April 2014
  • Staying at the Carmel Guest House was a lovely experience. Detlef and his family were very flexible with our arrival time and the house was clean and cozy. The location is great because you can access Carmel Valley for wine tasting and hiking as well as Carmel-By-The-Sea for delicious food and beach time. It rained a bit while we were in Carmel so we took advantage of the big TV and caught up on some Disney Channel Original movies we had been reminiscing about. While we did access the great restaurants in Carmel for most of our meals, we cooked a huge huevos rancheros breakfast on our last morning and pre-made lots of food for our upcoming camping trip, so it was great to have a working kitchen for easy use. The Guest House was the perfect calm start to our Spring Break vacation! We look forward to visiting Carmel again soon :)

  • Had a great time in Detlef's guest house. The full set of kitchen appliances definitely came in handy, and the house was very cozy with the heater going. I'll be back next time I'm in Carmel!

    March 2014
  • Detlef's place is a quiet studio that is attached to the back of his home in Carmel. There's a lovely back yard, and the bed is very comfortable.

    March 2014
  • With 2 dogs, the fenced back yard was a must. The converted garage was comfortable and clean, but repairs are needed so guests would be allowed to flush toilet paper down the toilet!! (Forbidden now).

    March 2014
  • We really enjoyed the Carmel Guest House. It was the perfect size for a couple and very comfy, private and clean. The owner was informative and very helpful with the reservation and arrival details. The Guest House is lovely, in a beautiful quiet neighborhood, very close to the beach, downtown, wineries, etc. We look forward to returning.

  • The Carmel Guest House was amazing! Perfect for a weekend away. Quiet, private, close to everything. Detlef was great and easy to work with. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

    March 2014
  • We didn't get to stay here after all, but Detlef was very understanding and friendly about it. Even offered to give us a free stay next time to make up for it! Thanks Detlef!

    March 2014
  • The guesthouse was just perfect for us, even though it was a brief overnight stay. It has charm and warmth and is spacious even though it's a studio. We did not get to meet Detlef and family (we arrived late and left early) but the place was well kept and agreable. I would suggest a good GPS if you arrive in pitch darkness like we did, but the Carmel streets are VERY charming. Thank youmDetlef and family, we will keep your adress in memory.
