About this listing
A cosy independent room to rent in a lovely modern flat near the riverside, 20 minutes from the airport (by taxi), 15 minutes from the railway station (by tram), two tram stops from the Wawel Castle, three from the old town, 10 minutes walking by the river.
It's sunny, warm and peaceful. Just a few steps from the house you'll find a very good supermarket, a pharmacy, a bakery shop, three different banks (!) and an amazing local market. You'll be my guest: I speak English, French and Spanish, have traveled quite a lot with my little daughter and love receiving people.
So far I've only had ONE bad experience with Airbnb guests - which makes me think that exception proves the rule: my guests become friends. Still, if you want to feel alone as well as totally and absolutely independent you may chose an hotel - or ask if we're not on holiday. ;)
Well, actually, as we keep on traveling, you may rent THE WHOLE FLAT for $59 (two bedrooms, one living room & kitchen corner, two bathrooms and a balcony with a nice view). Feel free to ask!
Please, send me a message before you book the guest room or the whole flat. We have many friends who visit us and sometimes they stay for a while. Please, make sure your Airbnb profile is updated: no one likes to receive perfect strangers and I'm no exception. Thank you!
You'll have a room on your own and spare keys to the apartment. You can use the kitchen, especially if you really like cooking!
Feel free to enjoy Krakow by night and sleep till noon - but don't forget to bring your earplugs as we can wake up much earlier and sing in the shower... ;)
No smoking inside, please: we have a nice balcony for tobacco lovers! :)
I stayed with Marta's apartment for 3 nights. The location is very central, and very close to the riverside. The room is very cozy and clean. I enjoyed the time in Kraków and had a nice stay with Marta's place. Thanks Marta!
Marta was great. Fast on the communication which was nice since I was coming from NYC and could only contact her when I was near wifi. She was also very accomodating to my plans, which kept changing as I figured things out in a new city. The first night she welcomed me to a nice, delicious dinner with a couple of her friends and her husband, Marcin. That was really lovely since I was traveling alone.
The nice thing about Marta and Marcin's listing is that it's a real home. They live there with their two children and you are a part of that when you stay with them. Since I was travelling by myself, I preferred to have a little human interaction -- a hotel would have been lonely. If you like the hotel feel, I'd say you should look elsewhere as it would be a bad fit for both parties.
The apartment location is really convenient. I walked all over. Seemed like I could get anywhere I wanted to go in 15-25 minutes of walking. I usually took the long route home next to the river, which was downright pleasant. I also found it really convenient to have a grocery store, liquor store, and bakery nearby.
Marta's place was really awesome. Her place is just 20 min from airport and just 10 min walk to city centre. River is just 2 min away from her apartment and very relaxing. Her room is well furnished and have awesome view outside. I enjoyed the dinner with her family. She has given me perfect direction to reach her place and also she explained me about Poland and Kraków well.
It was such a wonderful experience to stay with Marta's mom, due to some reason, I stayed in Marta's mom's place. I felt like home to stay with Ela, and she took care of me like her family. And Marta is so nice and warm! It's just we didn't have chance to cook together because i was sick... But would like to stay here again next time and we can have some asain food together!
Marta was a very welcoming host. She knew the city inside out, and the accommodation was situated in a very convenient place to catch a tram or bus into the city if needed. The apartment was very clean, and the room was perfect for 2 people. Also a very good price for a friendly host who can give great tips for free!
I highly recommend staying with Marta in Krakow. I was perfectly comfortable in her apartment. The building is modern and well-insulated (which was especially nice since it was rather chilly outside). There is a porch outside the bedroom and living room/kitchen that I imagine would be especially nice in the warmer months. The bed is nice and firm, the room is very comfortable and equipped with ample shelves for one's clothes, etc. The large windows let in beautiful light in the morning, and the building is very quiet at night. The location is great--a quick jaunt by tram to the center of town, or a breezy, 15 minutes walk along the river with a view of Wawel Castle.
Marta is an excellent, thoughtful host. This was my first airbnb experience, and I anticipated that aside from access to all the spaces mentioned and friendly exchanges, I'd be mostly on my own. On this visit there was a lovely balance--I felt truly hosted (upon arrival, Marta offered me a bowl of delicious homemade soup she'd made that morning) and independent at the same time. Marta was very helpful from the get-go, giving me information about trains (I was coming from Warsaw) and how to get to her building, as well as suggesting places to visit and eat. On my first night she invited me to a concert at a jazz club in the center of town, a very cool place with excellent players that night and interesting people. Traveling alone can be tricky when it comes to nightlife, and I was so grateful to get to see this side of Krakow in such a artful setting. I also got to meet her truly delightful, adorable daughter. (Her husband and son were out of town, but I'm certain I would have enjoyed meeting them as well--theirs is clearly a very creative, interesting family.)
Staying with Marta definitely enhanced my experience of visiting Krakow, and I am eager to return someday soon.
