There are two full living spaces in the SoFo place. Both with separate private entrances, bedroom(s), living space, kitchen and bathroom.

Walking is easy with all sidewalk lined streets and there is a bus stop feet from our driveway.

We do have Buddy the Dog (a beagle), who lives in the house. As much as we try to keep all the hair and allergens away-it isn't always possible. Guests with dog allergies should be aware.

Interaction with Guests

I may or may not be home when guests are due to my work and travel schedules.

I would love to grab a drink with guests if it works with everyone's plans.

  • Marta was incredibly accommodating during my short stay. She has a funky, fun and just awesome sense of style that makes her place feel like a chic hotel. During one of the worst winters in Michigan, her place was a warm and inviting retreat after a long day of hitting the local microbreweries.

  • Way better than staying in a hotel! The space was large, very clean, quiet, and had way more ammenities than one would get staying in a hotel. We had a blast playing tabletop fooze ball and darts in the space, and enjoyed having the small kitchen for preparing a home cooked meal. I was in town for the Iceman Cometh mountain bike race, and Marta and her husband were cool with us storing a couple mountain bikes in their garage overnight. I highly recommend this space!

  • Marta's place was great. It was just a short walk to downtown, with all the shops and restaurants. The room was very clean and Marta left a little basket with some water and snacks. Nice touch :) Marta communicated directions and check-in info to us to make it easy on us. I'd definitely recommend her place if you're going to Traverse City!

  • Great stop on our rd trip. Spent 2 nights here and it was easy to walk around town and get to everything we wanted to do. Very convenient and unique space. Marta was a great host and easy to communicate with. Would highly recommend

  • I stayed two nights in the studio and only met briefly with Marta and her husband - very friendly. However, their place suited me well for my stay. I was initially hesitant to book because the bed type was listed as a pull out couch. But this one felt like an actual bed and that memory foam mattress of theirs is something special - a few minutes after lying down I was out cold and had a great sleep. I highly recommend staying here.

  • Marta's place was great for a weekend getaway in Traverse City! The space is very comfortable, and Marta provides plenty of great options for activities, bars, and restaurants while in town. Thanks Marta!

  • My partner and I were looking for a clean, comfortable place to crash between Sleeping Bear and Mackinac at the last minute. Marta got back to us about our request within an hour and we booked the room and headed up north! The space was great--quiet, clean, with a TV and lots of board games. There is a kitchenette which means we could eat breakfast there and get out the door quick the next morning. When we arrived there were snacks and chocolates on our pillows. The fact that we could park in the driveway was also great--didn't have to worry about parking on the street or trying to find a spot in an unfamiliar city.

This rental was perfect for what we needed.

  • This was a great tidy — yet packed full of fun* — private basement space with kitchenette and bath. Although mine was a very short stay, I would definitely feel comfortable here for an extended vacation. Marta and her husband are very kind, and even dropped me at the airport on the way to work. Thanks for that bonus!

    *dart board, books, games a'plenty

About
After traveling Europe for a few years, I've decided to play grown-up for a bit. My roots are currently in Traverse City, MI. USA where I work as a Brand Manager for a marketing agency. Bicycles, micro-brews, local food and spending time with friends fill my days. Buddy the Dog is a new addition to the house. He's a 6 year old Beagle who loves the world! I love meeting my guests and having a sly drink if it works with their schedule. I also have a few bikes that guests can use if they want to get about the city a bit faster.
