About this listing
Cozy, private bedroom on garden side in my quiet apt in Park Slope a couple of blocks from Prospect Park! This first floor apartment is centrally located near restaurants, cafe's, subways in this safe, in a historic beautiful neighborhood!
The room I am renting is quiet, comfortable, and cozy in my apt on the ground floor flat (no stairs) situated on a prime street in beautiful historic Park Slope! It works out as a one bedroom split so I rent the garden side room here from time. When I host I sleep on the pull out in the living room which also becomes a private room. This is a working musician's apartment and makes up for it's limitations in luxury by offering comfort, quiet, loads of charm. and location, location, location!
Kitchen, Bath, Room, DVD player, Flat screen TV for HDMI hookup or DVD only (No network TV or Cable connection), WIFI, Two Bicycles (by request),
Interaction with Guests
I love meeting new people from all walks and all journeys. I enjoy helping to facilitate your journey in any way I can.
This is an incredible neighborhood! There are so many great restaurants, cafes, and shops. Prospect Park and Grand Army Plaza are a couple of blocks walk away. Cultural destinations like BAM, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanical Garden and more are 10 minutes away.
Many busses, Trains, Uber, Taxis, Zip car, etc... but walking is the best!
Other Things to Note
I'm not a TV watcher. There is a TV but ONLY for use with the DVD player. You can access shows or movies on cable and plug in to the HDMI of the Flatscreen.
There is a very old boiler in the building and sometimes the water is either too hot or goes a little cold too fast. Usually it is just fine though.
Also - I live with my dog and if I'm renting just the room he will be staying in the apartment as well. He is a joy (clean too!) and loves people and kids! However, if I am listing the full apartment there will be no dog here!

If you want to have a wonderful experience then I recommend staying with Jose in Park Slope. His brownstone is located right in the centre of the action. Great restaurants, Prospect Park, Green Wood Cemetary, yoga studios, boutiques and so much more. Came home with wonderful memories.
Returning to my old neighborhood, it felt a bit strange to have to book a room, but being at jose's felt wonderfully like i'd returned home -- his hospitality natural and his apartment (perfectly located) breezy and comfortable. I felt utterly welcome, like I was staying with an old friend, but there was all the lovely serendipity of travel -- spontaneous dinner together with his friends and mine, unexpected breakfasts in the garden, and of course my instant bond with his beloved dog Tito. Highly recommend, if only for the perfect location and comfy bed and big bedroom windows facing south into the garden. Oh and the espresso. Thank you, Jose.
Jose, made me feel right at home. By far one of my best experiences in Brooklyn!
The host, Jose, was very friendly and made us feel very comfortable. The neighborhood is wonderful. A great location. I don't think the ad mentioned that there was not a television.
Well I should say that the apartment is getting remodeled as we speak and therein lies the comment here by Judy. The bath as freshly painted and the whole apartment is in process of renovation. I cleaned every corner of this apartment top to bottom before Judy arrived. It is a very old building and quite possible that some dust collected in her four days of relaxing in my "roomy and comfortable" location. I do however believe Judy's comment to be wholly unfair and excessive but I can promise anyone who is thinking of staying here that you will be hard pressed to find a better place for the money!

About the Host, Jose
It has been 15 years and counting in beautiful idyllic Park Slope for me after transplanting from Miami, FL, and Boston where he lived for a few years while attending Berklee College of Music. I am most definitely a Brooklynite now!
I am a naturalist at heart who would like to reduce my footprint on the planet. I compost and have planted many trees but I still have not reached the level of balance with the Earth that I need and want to reach. I’m a respected music professional involved in several projects including OLA FRESCA, an 8 piece Latin band that combines elements of classic and contemporary Cuban music with Salsa and world beat influences. This occupies much of my time. I love to cook and eat good healthy food whether it is low key ethnic or gourmet cuisine and the same goes for the vino.
I like to get the same special treatment when I travel that I give to guests in my home. I go to great lengths to make my guests feel comfortable and calm so the accommodation I provide enhances the travel experience. I offer a clean comfy space, I help with the luggage and brew tea or coffee, open doors and help hang stuff. I also love to get to know folks just a little and then watch them go off on their own journey around town at a comfort level that I facilitated. Wherever I get the same treatment on a trip, it always makes me want to return.
Deal breaker . Truth. I am completely upfront about who I am and how I live and what you can expect from me and I expect any guest or host to do the same absolutely. I do not smoke and prefer not to accommodate or stay in a smokers home (but we can be friends!) I respect a person's home and their belongings as if they were my own and I expect my guests to do the same completely and in every way.
A few places I've been that I love are; Costa Rica all over, La Gran Sabana in Venezuela, Habana and Pinar del Rio Cuba, El Paramo in Ecaudor and the hot springs there, Paris, Berlin, Denmark, Offenbach, Germany, Sevilla, Barcelona, the Everglades in South Florida, Turks n Caicos, St Martin, Grand Canyon, New Orleans, Virginia Beach, upstate NY, Montreal, Charles River in Boston on a Sunday.....
