Bare bones with simple charm. A rustic bunkhouse on a working family farm nestled in the Dundee Hills wine country. Walking distance to world class wineries and restaurants. Stunning vineyard views and refreshingly private. Very child friendly.
Secluded studio cabin with a queen size bed, bunk beds, table and chairs. Private outdoor seating area with chairs and picnic table. Room for a tent at no extra charge. Not recommended for high maintenance guests. Toilet, delicious well water and heat, but no hot water, shower or indoor cooking facilities. Let us know if you'd like a cooler. We are a 13 acre working family farm with pigs, chickens, (yes a rooster who crows), goats, llamas, loving cats and Heidi, our border collie. Dreamy vineyard views and a perfect spot for watching the sunset with a glass of Oregon Pinot Noir or quietly gazing at the stars.
Private seating area with picnic table and chairs. Hammock. Farm animals. Loving cat.
Bring your boots! We'll happily show you around the farm. Part of the bunkhouse's charm is privacy. We like to give our guests space and not hover as hosts. But PLEASE if you have any questions, just knock on the main house door, or send us a quick email. Unless we let you know otherwise in advance, we will be present at the listing during your stay and will respond immediately.
We have lots of local tips for a unique wine country experience.
Neighbors? You'll be bunking on a beautiful farm, remote enough to be sweetly private, but not too far off the beaten path. Star gazing included.
Park your car and explore the beautiful Dundee Hills. Spend it on pinot, not the pump!
Located just off the Worden Hill Wine trail. Park your car and leave it! Short walk up to world class wineries or down the hill to excellent eating establishments. Public bus stop with connections to PDX and McMinnville 15 min walking distance.
Excellent child care available on weekends. This is a simple farm bunkhouse. No air conditioning, but we have heat. In the summer expect warm nights with a fan. In the winter it's cozy and comfortable, but please don't expect to be sitting around in your boxer shorts.
Such a fantastic bunkhouse and farm to explore. We had a fantastic time in the bunkhouse playing games and drinking our wine from some of the local wineries. Susan and her family were so kind and really made us feel at home on their farm. Really is a great place to stay!
We loved our stay at the farm bunkhouse! My wife, two daughters (2 years and 3 months old, respectively), and my father-in-law joined me comfortably inside - it's super cute and full of character. Katniss (one of the Ortloff's cats) joined us inside a lot, much to the delight of our older daughter. We arrived late, but were greeted by Kate and Mia (the two younger Ortloff girls), who were very sweet and invited us to come by the house if we needed anything. Inside the bunkhouse, we immediately saw a recent magazine featuring the family farm (the three daughters are on the cover) and the family's very interesting history and work. Very cool (I saw the magazine again with the two little girls who greeted us on the cover at Powell's in Portland). The next morning, Susan showed me and my daughter the pigs, chickens, sheep, and more and we had a wonderful conversation. My little girl was very sad when it was time for us to go - a wonderful time and we'd be thrilled to stay again!
Such an amazing experience. Susan hands down, an amazing host. My family and I arrived late in the night, but both Susan and her Husband, Wolfgang made it a point to greet and welcome us to assure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The cabin, such a work of art in its self (hand built by Wolfgang himself!). Its gorgeous. The farm, breath taking. My boys were in heaven, with visits from Susan's cat and dog (both so friendly). Susan took the boys to the farm where they were able to run around have fun. Such an amazing time - the hospitality from the Ortloff family by far surpassed any expectations. We highly recommend a stay here as we will definitely stay here again.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Very rustic bunkhouse, easy access off mani road, good directions. Perfect for warm weather visit to working farm.
This was a lovely place to stay! We came from portland for the night to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We were greeted by Wolfgang and an adorable little bob-cat. Susan came by later in the evening to check in and make sure we had everything we needed. We were left with a gift certificate to a local restaurant and some wine tasting cards. It was so beautiful and close to everything. I would go back and visit in a heart beat! thanks so much for your hospitality!!
The bunkhouse is great! Simple - yet tastefully decorated. Our little boys loved the farm animals and the frequent visits of Susan's house cat. Would certainly recommend this place. True, it's not a five star hotel. But that's exactly the point.
I had a very lovely time in Dundee, and it was so good being a few doors down from where my sister was staying :-) Thank you for the lovely wine tasting & making me welcome...
Wonderful stay in the Private Wine Country Farm Bunkhouse! Susan and Wolfgang were perfect hosts and some of the kindest and nicest people around.
The Bunkhouse itself was exactly as described and though rustic, was very cozy and comforting with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. We'll definitely be back for another stay very soon!
A stay on Susan's farm comes highly recommended by my four friends and I. She was incredibly accommodating when we requested that an extra friend come along and provided us with a complimentary wine tasting at the tasting room where she worked! Her daughters gave us wonderful restaurant recommendations and checked in at night to see if we needed anything. Highlights of the trip were meeting all the farm animals, enjoying the relaxing views of the neighboring winery, and getting to see a pig butchered in the morning! All in all, Susan's bunkhouse is the perfect base camp from which to explore Dundee. We'll be back soon!
