The Space

Secluded studio cabin with a queen size bed, bunk beds, table and chairs. Private outdoor seating area with chairs and picnic table. Room for a tent at no extra charge. Not recommended for high maintenance guests. Toilet, delicious well water and heat, but no hot water, shower or indoor cooking facilities. Let us know if you'd like a cooler. We are a 13 acre working family farm with pigs, chickens, (yes a rooster who crows), goats, llamas, loving cats and Heidi, our border collie. Dreamy vineyard views and a perfect spot for watching the sunset with a glass of Oregon Pinot Noir or quietly gazing at the stars.

Guest Access

Private seating area with picnic table and chairs. Hammock. Farm animals. Loving cat.

Interaction with Guests

Bring your boots! We'll happily show you around the farm. Part of the bunkhouse's charm is privacy. We like to give our guests space and not hover as hosts. But PLEASE if you have any questions, just knock on the main house door, or send us a quick email. Unless we let you know otherwise in advance, we will be present at the listing during your stay and will respond immediately.
We have lots of local tips for a unique wine country experience.

The Neighborhood

Neighbors? You'll be bunking on a beautiful farm, remote enough to be sweetly private, but not too far off the beaten path. Star gazing included.
Park your car and explore the beautiful Dundee Hills. Spend it on pinot, not the pump!

Getting around

Located just off the Worden Hill Wine trail. Park your car and leave it! Short walk up to world class wineries or down the hill to excellent eating establishments. Public bus stop with connections to PDX and McMinnville 15 min walking distance.

Other Things to Note

Excellent child care available on weekends. This is a simple farm bunkhouse. No air conditioning, but we have heat. In the summer expect warm nights with a fan. In the winter it's cozy and comfortable, but please don't expect to be sitting around in your boxer shorts.

  • The bunkhouse was cosy, private, and absolutely perfect for a weekend getaway. The view is lovely from the farm and nothing could be cuter than the piglets Susan invited us to check out in the barn. We were able to walk into town to check out the Red Hills market and the new brewpub in Dundee, and go for a morning run in the Dundee hills without getting back in the car. All in all a great experience.

  • Susan was so friendly and had lots of information about the area. The bunkhouse was the perfect place to reset and unplug after a couple of days of flying. There are tasting rooms and restaurants within walking distance if you don't mind stretching your legs a little. Just don't misplace the key as the door will lock automatically! Overall, a very nice night and a very good hostess.

  • Susan's farm is lovely and the bunkhouse and cozy and comfortable. I loved the rustic feel and it had all the amenities I needed for a short stay. I will hopefully be back to stay longer and explore more of Dundee and all the wineries in the area!

  • We loved spending the night in the Bunkhouse in Oregon Wine Country, not far from Portland and it was very relaxing. The Bunkhouse is a great size, tidy and clean, very kid friendly and the atmosphere and surroundings are beautiful. Susan was such a lovely host she made our stay super special. We had our daughter with us, 16 months old and she loved the farm, the cats, dog, pigs and walking around the property. Also the flying fox and tree house are awesome. The town of Dundee is very cute, there's some great wineries to visit, excellent food to choose from and the house is only a 10 -15 minute walk to town. The personal touches were very special, the daughters set up the cabin with some great toys for our daughter to play with and our daughter headed for them as soon as she saw them. We will return one day in the future!

  • This bungalow is absolutely adorable! We loved every minute of our stay there. The space is small, but it is very comfortable, warm, and inviting. Susan and her husband were very hospitable, and they made us feel very much at home. They gave us a tour of their farm and introduced us to their family and animals. Their dog, Heidi, and cat, Katniss, quickly became honorary members of our family. We visited during a busy wine tasting weekend, and the property is conveniently located close to many of the Dundee area wineries. This is the perfect space for a young couple or family looking for a lovely weekend getaway.

  • After having driven down the Washington and Oregon coasts on a road trip, we wanted to tie our last night up with a bow! We found a gem! Booking a place on a whim, Susan & her family graciously opened their farm to us - bunkhouse, tour of the property, gorgeous views - and gave us recommendations on places to eat and visit in the valley. We couldn't help but be charmed by the quaint interior, flowers brought to our room, lessons on pig farming, adorable kitties, incredible mountain views, and the crowing rooster wake-up call. It was perfect. We can't wait to go back.

  • Our bunkhouse stay was sweetsweetsweet!!! The Ortloffs are awesome folks with a great piece of land and lovelylovely farm animals to gawk at. The accommodations were warm and homey, and the company of their bob-tail cat and bouncing herding dog were much appreciated.
The Ortloffs' farm is just a short walking distance from many tasting rooms (visit Susan at Evening Land!) and restaurants (try Tina's). Ask Susan or Wolfgang for suggestions on other fun stuffs!
