So, back again for the tenth time. My sister and Dog love this place!!!! It's our perfect escape from the city (SF) quiet and relaxing views. We always see new people and new dogs every time. Debo and Arthur are Debbie the owners dogs, very friendly and cute. We have the same routine. Rest then drive down to the strip for crispy tacos next to the only supermarket. We visit Carlos at the bar at Brannins and get our Bloody Marys. We get our coffee at Yo El Rey awesome!! Breakfast at Sarafornia. A mud bath . Then back to Debbie's at the pool. Her views are fantastic. Her rooms quaint. She always has raisin bread toast and fruit. Her house is full of charm. Thank you Debbie and Matt we will be back :-)

If you have realistic expectations this B&B is a gem. Debbie gave a good rate, a lovely king bed cottage with a lovely private balcony. After a lovely meal in Calistoga, a bottle of wine on our deck late into night we had a very peaceful sleep. Breakfast is a communal affair - very homely and delicious. We loved it and recommend it to laid back, worldly travellers looking for an authentic experience. if you're stuck up and fussy head to a downtown hotel box.Go Debbie - love your work!!!
"A solid "5" "420 positive" "pet friendly"
I want to emphasize that I have only stayed here midweek, when the place was empty with a private residence. There is NO PLACE IN NAPA VALLEY or within any sort of decent drive with that sort of rate. My facilities have always been clean and comfortable. The last two times, Debbie invited me/us to partake of anything in the fridge we wanted. Now, I cannot speak to the weekend breakfast, but I am unsure whether I would stay here if I were paying the weekend rates; I just plan my trip to take advantage of the weekday rate. I would rate Hilltop a solid "5," a great getaway in Napa Valley. Because I'm so into the views, that said, I WILL BE BACK without ANY hesitation.
“A Rustic Weekend with a Glorious View”

We traveled from Dallas, Texas to St. Helena California to visit family. Hilltop Bed and Breakfast and Cottage was a refreshing, relaxing surprise. A lovely home nestled on the top of a mountain, our airy room offered a breathtaking view of vineyards and valleys. It was a step back into a more peaceful and tranquil space in time. My son and I enjoyed every moment. We left after a delicious breakfast wishing we could stay a little longer.

Great view! Beds were clean and nice. But the rest of the shack made it feel like you were in storage which was rushed into being an air bnb. Opened the curtain and the rod fell off the wall. Corners of the room were very dirty as just easy to reach areas are cleaned. Strange excessive amount of hooks. Location was great though and I don't think would take much to make this much much better.
Calistoga is a delightful region to explore, with comfortable welcoming vibes. We were so thrilled to hold our "Annual lady cousin reunion" up in this beautiful historic location. Gorgeous wineries and lovely people throughout! Chateau Montelena is located right down the street, which was incredibly convenient. Plenty other wonderful wineries such as Sterling Vineyards and Dutch Henry are also within 15 min drive.
The view from the cottage is spectacular! Perched on the hilltop, you get a very private feel. The scenery includes a pond, beautiful rolling hills, vineyards, live oaks, and then some! The hosts have the cutest dogs, one of which came up to hang out with us. We loved his company, as he was a friendly little lover!
The cottage itself is adorable and super simple. Just what we needed! The full kitchen/ living room area was a wonderful, equipped with a lengthy dinning table, where we enjoyed quite the feast after an ALL DAY wine tasting excursion :) The beds were comfortable, and we were all cozy and warm through the night.
We had such a great experience. I will definitely consider coming back to Bob's cottage for another visit in the future.
We were looking for a place with a nice view, a kitchen, and a good location. This place met all those criteria and more. The view, to start with, is fabulous. You have the hilltop to yourself, and the house is perched among live oaks so that it almost feels like a treehouse. There are walking trails all around with more access to great scenery, including more hilltop views and a pond. It was too early in the year to use the swimming pool, but we enjoyed the hot tub. They even have robes in the closets for you to use for the walk back and forth.
We brought our dog with us, and he was delighted to be able to run around with us without a leash, and to play with the hosts' two friendly dogs. One of their dogs came up to greet us the first night. Otherwise, we were on our own, which was just fine with us.
The house itself is pleasingly simple - just the right size for 4 people, with a full kitchen and a generous dining table. Nothing fancy, but we are not into such things anyway. A big box full of old VCR movies provided us with all the entertainment we needed.
The house is about two miles outside of Calistoga, just far enough to feel like you're out in the country but not so far that you feel isolated. All in all, it was a great experience. We would definitely go back.
My friends and I had a blast at this cozy cottage in Calistoga. We enjoyed the hot tub and savored our privacy. We also took advantage of the access to the hillside behind the cottage for a late night hike.
Above all, we enjoyed our privacy and felt like we really had whole place to ourselves. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a secluded getaway to the countryside!

Enjoyed a relaxing weekend in Calistoga with this cottage as our base. Awesome views--the stars were incredible-- cozy fireplace, and the cutest, friendliest dogs for my dog to play with. Dog friendly is of paramount importance to me- so this is the perfect spot if you're a dog person. Debbie was really sweet and her Inn down the hill is full of history- very good views from the big windows at her place. You can also see the geyser from her windows.
My friends and I rented the upper cottage for the weekend to celebrate a birthday. The place was immaculate when we arrived. Checking in and out was incredibly easy. Everyone we interacted with was very friendly and hospitable. The place itself was fantastic. It was fully stocked, exactly as advertised, and had a great view.
The cottage has a great view and was the perfect size for a spa and wine weekend with my girls. The linens were fresh and clean and the kitchen appliances that we used all worked well. For anyone looking for a modern or super chic place to sleep this isn't it, but if you enjoy a rustic and laid back environment than you will find this spot very charming!
I do not recommend this place. there are hotels all over napa more comfortable, with better amenities and lower price. I left a book and PJs there, which is totally my fault. I contacted the owner and offered to pay for shipping them back but despite multiple e-mail exchanges, and empty promises to follow up and return my belongings, I still do not have them back. there are far better choices of places to stay in Calistoga. zero stars
This is a perfect retreat in wine country. The place is simple, but very private, and is a great place to stay in Wine country if prefer comfort and access to sun and the outdoors over luxury. My partner and I went up there with my mom and sister and two pups, and we were very comfortable. We cooked a great dinner, went on a morning hike right on the grounds, and enjoyed morning coffee and sun on the deck. I'd definitely go back.
