Experience serenity at my spacious, light-filled home which is located twenty minutes (ten miles) from the heart of the Santa Fe Plaza and borders the SF Nat'l Forest. Located five minutes from Harry's Roadhouse, and minutes from Museum Hill, local galleries, and eateries. Hiking and mountain biking are easily enjoyed nearby.

The home is comfortable and quiet with gorgeous views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the star-filled night skies.

The space
This beautiful, light-filled custom built home sits at 8,500 feet on the Santa Fe National Forest. It is approximately 15-20 minutes (ten miles from the heart of the Santa Fe Plaza) from town and minutes from Museum Hill (home to the Spanish Colonial Museum and the internationally famous Folk Art Museum), hiking trails, five minutes to Harry's Road House, Cafe Fina, and the many museums and restaurants that Santa Fe has to offer visitors.

The home has been influenced by my travels in Northern Africa and the living space is very cozy with a traditional Northern New Mexico wood burning kiva fireplace gracing the living room. The downstairs living space is open with a large gourmet kitchen and comfortable dining area. Guests have all the necessary equipment to brew an Italian espresso or cappuccino as well as whip up a gourmet meal.

The walls are adobe with hand-trawled plaster and keep the home toasty and warm in the winter and cool in the summer months. The floors are heated, the beds are comfy and the rooms are spacious and quiet.

The house is on a slow well, so we have supplemented the 1500k gallon cistern with an additional 600 gallon water tank to ensure that water is abundant.

You will definitely enjoy peaceful slumbers and be ready to explore all that Santa Fe has to offer. There are wonderful restaurants in town, coffee houses and the Plaza must be explored. Many museums are located on the Plaza such as IAIA, the Georgia O'Keffee (just off the Plaza) to name a few and both are not to be missed!

You will also enjoy heading up to the Santa Fe Ski Basin (skiing in the winter and wonderful hiking in the summer) and along the way, stopping at Ten Thousand Waves Japanese Spa is an absolute MUST! You will enjoy the beauty and the amenities that the spa offers.

Please note that your dogs are welcome; however, there is a one time fee of $100 per dog that will be charged to accommodate for extra cleaning time. Due to previous guests’ bringing dogs without notification and/or letting their dogs pee in the house, we are forced to make this a strict policy. Please note that there is no fenced yard for your dogs.

Please feel free to make my home, your home! I believe you will thoroughly enjoy the beauty of my home and the Santa Fe area.

Most gratefully,

Carole Gentry, your Host

Guest access
Guests will enjoy the entire 2,000 sq. ft. home and the beauty and peace of the area when they visit. Don't forget to step outside to take in all the stars that come out after dark--you'll be amazed!

Other things to note
As you are in high altitude, please be sure to drink plenty of water and use sunscreen--even on a cloudy day!

Santa Fe is considered a high mountain desert and is arid. Water is a valuable resource and you'll often see signs that state "Agua is la Vida!" That is, "water is life."

Neighborhood highlights

The Village of Canada de Los Alamos is an old Spanish Village approximately 300 years old. Many of the 360 inhabitants are descendants of the original villagers who settled this area. The Village is located at the very end of the famous "Old Santa Fe Trail" and remains secluded and private and virtually untouched. My home is on a dirt road but located at the beginning of the road.

As you can see from the photos, the area is quiet and offers complete relaxation from the hustle and bustle of hectic life. The home is a perfect getaway for the artist, writer, family, outdoor enthusiast who seeks to enjoy the cultural amenities that Santa Fe has to offer while also providing a sacred, serene space in which to relax.
