Comfortable and bright house, sleeps 8 people. Just 5 min by boat and walking to the best surf point of Barra beach - Pepê. Easy access to public transportation to all parts of town, only 10 minutes to Ipanema and Leblon. A paradise for water sports, golf practice and nature watching.
The house is on Ilha Primeira, an island in Tijuca Lagoon, across the canal from Itanhangá Golf Club. It has a large dining room for 8 people; a TV room with two sofas; a small lounge with a computer and internet access; 3 bedrooms - two suites with air conditioners and a room with a ceiling fan; 3 full bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher and coffee maker; and a laundry room with washer and dryer. In the garden, a deck with lounge chairs is the perfect place to relax, watch the birds and the canal boats, in total harmony with nature.
Barra da Tijuca is certainly the best beach in Rio. It is 14 km of white sand and clear green water, ideal for kite surfing, stand up paddle, bike, skate. A few minutes south of Barra: Reserva, Prainha and Grumari – are some paradisiac beaches, sought by surfers worldwide. Barra Point, BarraShopping, Village Mall, Downtown and Citta America, are some malls just a few minutes from Ilha Primeira, with great theaters, restaurants and exclusive shops. Bus and taxi stops are available right off the island, with many options of transportation to all parts of town. Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon are only 15 minutes away.
The neighborhood is peaceful and friendly – some fishermen and even artists. One can experience the carioca way of life just by strolling down the alleys inside the island with their flowers and colorful houses.
There is no bridge to the island. The only way to get there is by boat - from 1 to 3 minutes to the house. Canal boats – chalanas - transport residents and visitors for about U$ 1,00 or U$2,00, depending on the route. They run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can be requested at any time by phone. The house has its own motor boat, which can be available to the guests, if necessary.
Tijuca Lagoon is an environment rich in many species of plants and animals. Herons, ducks, even capybaras and alligators are commonly seen in its waters and shores.

Fred and his wife Lu were gracious hosts and a very pleasant experience to deal with and communicate with. They were very helpful with any situations that arose during our time there.
View- the view from the home and from the outdoor terrace is absolutely stunning
Access to the home- can be a bit challenging, as you must take local boat to the home from a few access points; however, boats are easy to get and available 24/7- we never had any issue waiting for a boat for more than 5-10 min
Cleanliness- place was pretty clean, no issues with insects
Washrooms- clean, showers worked, toilets worked
Bedrooms- good enough space to hold 8 people
Kitchen- large kitchen with stove, microwave and large fridge. Easy to cook breakfast or small meals
Family room- couches and tv could use some upgrading to be more modern, but hopefully you won’t be spending too much time inside
Taxi access to Copacabana/Christ de Redemer- about a 20 min taxi ride to Ipanema and Copacabana
*Very close to Barra Beach, a 10 minute walk
Overall, I’d rate our experience a 9 out of 10 and I would definitely recommend staying at Fred’s home if you want to escape into some peace and quiet.
