The Space

Over 300 sq.feet of non-smoking living area; modern construction and contemporary appliances and furnishings. Peaceful and quiet, at the end of a private and shaded alley - all of the urban benefits without the urban chaos. No need for a car - catch the train from the Airport. Grind your own complimentary home-roasted coffee or walk to half a dozen coffee shops, neighborhood restaurants, Candler Park Market, Little Five Points or the Edgewood Retail District (Kroger, Target, Best Buy etc.). Overlook or walk/run/bike to major parks and green space: Iverson Park, Candler Park, Freedom Park and the Beltline. Easy MARTA train access to Airport, Downtown, Midtown, Buckhead and Decatur. Great home base for visits/business Georgia State, Georgia Tech and Emory. Perfect for one or two but could handle three sleepers using convertible futon. Kids are welcome on a case-by-case basis. No pets please.

Guest Access

Guests have access to all facilities outside of the main house including the children's playground, patio table and chairs, gas grill, fish pond, garage and contents including dedicated washer/dryer and storage refrigerator and freezer and recreational equipment.

Interaction with Guests

I enjoy meeting the guests and helping out with local tips and recommendations, but try not to intrude on their privacy.

The Neighborhood

Candler Park is a uniquely eclectic, diverse, tolerant, laid-back, green and user-friendly neighborhood and you will like it here.

The Candler Park MARTA train station is half a block from the Aerie Suite. The train will take you to downtown Decatur in just a couple of stops; downtown Atlanta in a few stops; the Airport; Midtown and Buckhead. The Aerie Suite comes with covered parking adjacent to the apartment.

  • My boyfriend and I had a wonderful long weekend getaway staying at this little gem. The suite felt completely private and was stocked with everything we could have possibly needed. Check-in and -out were simple and straightforward. I would love to stay here again!

  • Just one word is needed to review Candler Park Aerie Suite: TERRIFIC! But since I have nearly 500 more words I can use in this review, I will use more descriptors.
LOCATION: In the quiet and historic Candler Park neighborhood, easily accessible to Marta, downtown Atlanta, Little Five Points, Emory University, the Carter Center, a multitude of restaurants, shops and markets, hiking/biking trails, and places to just kick back and relax And most are within easy walking distance.
THE SUITE: Well furnished with comfortable and well-arranged furniture. Indeed there is friendly and tasteful decor throughout. Any and all appliances are included. There is a full bath with shower and a full tub for those luxuriant soaks after an active day.
AMENITIES AND EXTRAS: Off-street and covered garage parking; use of washer/dryer; and of special assistance on check-in, guests will find a variety of tasty food items such as muffins, juice, coffee, milk, fruit, eggs, cereals, tea, butter, etc. In other words, enough edibles are stocked for your convenience to get you through the first day or two without going to the market.
THE HOST: Congenial Peter Bassett tops all hosts I've experienced. He is very attentive to requests to make your stay comfortable and easy. Peter is a true bon vivant, a gifted conversationalist and world traveler. Raconteur is an excellent descriptor of Peter.
WOULD I STAY AGAIN? Yes, no doubt about it. And I highly recommend you try Candler Park Aerie Suite.

  • I had an amazing stay. Peter was not there when I arrived, but access was easy. He still organized a warm welcome in the appartment and some fresh berries in the fridge were a nice delight on the first eve. It's really conveniently located at 3min from the MARTA station and Little Five Points is a 10min foot walk. The appartment itself is so quiet and comfortable, I immediately felt home. It indeed has everything which you might also need for an extended stay in Atlanta.

  • The Aerie Suite is a fantastic place to stay while in Atlanta. It's in a great part of the city, and having lived in Atlanta, it gives a genuine feel for what it's like to live in intown Atlanta. Inside the place is cozy and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and fresh. Peter has the place well stocked with coffee and other basics for breakfast, etc. Then there's the backyard. The view out the French doors into the garden was wonderful and very relaxing! Highly recommended!

  • OMG! Perfect! The Aerie was just as described AND it is easy walking to the public transportation and really good restaurants! Peter is an awesome host and it was so nice to have fresh fruit and wine on our arrival! The neighborhood is quiet and family friendly. We will so stay here again!!!

  • AMAZING!!!! The Aerie Suite is perfect and Peter could not be more helpful!!! The location is perfect and the suite is so comfortable I didn't want to leave. Peter has thought of everything, from the comfortable furnishings to the supplies and even breakfast "fixings" in the fridge. You can't go wrong in choosing this lovely suite for a visit to ATL.

My stay was last minute AND also needed to make a last minute change to add an extra night. Peter was so accommodating, my only disappointment is the suite is not available for my next visit. This will be my first choice for my future Atlanta visits!

Thanks Peter, Zach and Sam for a very memorable stay and I hope to see you again in the future!!!

  • Peter was a wonderful host for my parents who stayed at his Aerie Suite as they helped me move into my new apartment. The Aerie Suite was great with cold AC, private parking, comfortable sleeping accommodations for two and even complimentary food and wine. My parents will definitely be back to Peter's great place in the incredible Candler Park community, which I think is the best place to stay in the city.

  • What a terrific experience for my wife and I. We came to Atlanta for our daughter's graduation at Columbia Theological Seminary. The seminary is an EZ 8 minute commute from Peter's, which made this location perfect. The Aerie Suite was more like a little "get away" cottage, than a B & B. It was perfect, nicely decorated, and is more upscale on the inside that the exterior photos would lead you to believe. VERY NICE! Would I stay here again? Absolutely!
    Thank you Peter.

  • What a find! We loved the little apartment, which was well-equipped, clean and the bed is super comfortable. Peter was out of the country during our stay so we didn't get to meet him in person, but he checked in with us from Albania (!) to make sure we had everything we needed. Communication was as good as it gets. Also we appreciated the bottle of wine and stocked fridge, the koi pond in the yard and the park next door. I hope this place is available next time we travel to Atlanta.

  • Our stay at the Aerie Suite was wonderful! The location could not be better. We hopped on the MARTA several times to go to a Braves game, hit up downtown and stop by Decatur shops. It is also walking distance to great parks, shops and restaurants. Peter was a great host. Everything was setup and ready to go, directions were great and we felt right at home. We would definitely stay here again.
