About this listing
Huge apartment close to Manchester's new international arts centre, Home. Old Trafford, Manchester United's ground is less than a mile away. The apartment overlooks the Bridgwater canal which gives direct access to the city centre. Secure parking.
Very large (c 1100 sq ft) architect-designed loft apartment in Castlefield, Manchester city centre.
Note: the apartment is in a quiet residential block and is not available for parties or noisy social events.
It has a great feeling of space, guests often comment. It's also very close to Man Utd football ground, and a little further on, Old Trafford cricket ground. The Manchester City ground is easily accessible by metro (light rail). Walking distance to all the main attractions (Manchester isn't a big city, so nowhere is that far away from anywhere else).
Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, one en suite.
The first of award-winning developers Urban Splash' 'design your own' apartment initiatives, every one of Box Works' apartments is completely unique. My apartment was designed by Urban Splash' own in-house architects.
In a converted warehouse with original industrial architecture (original brickwork and girders etc.) and modern fitments - including free-standing cubic glass bathroom - it has two large double bedrooms, one en suite. 2nd bedroom with balcony overlooking canal inlet with water lillies (!).
Two double bed sofas in main room mean it will accomodate 8 people at a push, but I'd recommend 3-6 as the ideal numbers.
Double glazed with solid wood floors and underfloor heating throughout. I have used the apartment for supper clubs (pop-up dining)*, so the kitchen is equipped pretty much to catering standards with three ovens and plenty of pans, crockery and cutlery, dishwasher, fridge etc.
Cable TV and wifi. 50" plasma tv, radio and docking station for playing music from iphones/ipads etc
Boxworks is an old industrial building with bare brick walls and steel girders and untreated surfaces throughout; it tends therefore to accumulates dust however well it is cleaned, so please bear this in mind.
The apartment is basically at the edge of the city centre, and all parts of the city are easily accessible by the canal towpath which passes directly in front of the apartment. Metro/mainline train stations are within 10 minutes' walk for connections to Manchester airport and rail travel.
Castlefield is one of the oldest parts of Manchester with a number of well-preserved Roman remains just a short distance from the apartment. The Museum of Science and Industry is also close by. There are bars and cafes within a 100 metres, and within 5 minutes' walk any number of cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants.
You walk pretty much out of the apartment into the city, but when you want peace and quiet after a long day (and nights!), enjoying Manchester, the apartment provides as much peace and seclusion as you might need.
Secure parking for up to 2 cars is available in The Box Works underground car park for £10 per car per day, by prior arrangement.
* I am also able to offer private dining at the apartment by prior arrangement - which makes it perfect for intimate get togethers. Check us out on NorthOnecomfort for a feel of our informal style of cooking!
The apartment is presented 'stay ready', with fresh towels and bedding supplied. The front door to the apartment has a mortice lock, so very secure, but only if you lock it with the key - it doesn't lock automatically; so, when leaving, two full turns clockwise to lock; when in the flat, two full turns anti-clockwise of the circular knob to lock from the inside. Parking isn't included in the price, but if you give me advance notice, I can usually find you a secure space in the residents' underground car park for up to 2 cars @ £10 per car per day. For anything else, including recommendations on restaurants/theatre/clubs etc, just ask on handover, and you can always reach us by 'phone if you're stuck.
We stayed in the apartment while I was organising and running a conference in Manchester. I had two guest speakers who were staying with me and we stayed for a total of 2night.
The apartment couldn't be in a better location and it made it really easy for me to walk to my venue near Castlefields. It's situated right next to a lock so I woke up the first morning with the sun streaming through and a watching a heron fishing in the water.
The apartment is clean, quiet and very well laid out. Phil made it really easy for me to get the key and drop it off again and the whole experience was seamless.
We had 3 of us sleeping there but you could easily fit 6 comfortably, if not intimately.
The kitchen is well laid out and furnished and there was a large stack of fresh towels just as I walked in.
I'm definitely coming back with friends for the weekend soon.
Amazing communication from the start. Very prompt replies. The flat was very spacious and very clean. We arrived in Manchester at 11am but it was no bother to drop our bags off first even though it wasn't check in time yet and then leave until the flat had been cleaned. The flat is situated in the castle field area and is only a lovely 5/10 minute walk down the canal to the centre of Manchester. Nice little bar/cafe for breakfast etc just round the corner too. Thanks once again
The flat was clean spacious and amazingly decorated. Phil asked a friend to let us in show us where everything was, he was very friendly and accommodating, and could have asked for an easier experience, would definitely recommend.
Chris and Phil were great at communicating before our stay and very flexible on when we arrived.
The apartment is in a great and very safe part of Manchester.
Absolutely wonderful experience at this apartment! Brilliant host who explained everything and a great location. Stayed here for parklife festival and definitely made our weekend, 4 of us in total with plenty of room and warm shower! Loads of cafe's and bars near for breakfast and a handy shop round the corner. I recommend using ubers to get round though as other taxi firms seemed unreliable and couldn't find the apartments?? Had a little problem with the cleanliness of the apartment bath/shower etc but nothing horrific and probably just high standards from myself and the couple who share a house back in Birmingham. Had a few friends crash over the second night with still plenty of room and no hassle with the host overall an excellent stay and a beautiful place we've all now got the blues wishing we could live here. Thank you phill and Chris A*.
The flat was really lovely, matched the photos and description well. We were met and everything explained so we felt very comfortable and the host communication was great, very prompt and helpful.
Location was really nice. Walkable into the city centre or a cheap taxi. Lots of nice bars nearby too.
Very polite and friendly, was very helpful on our stay and accommodated to our needs.
