Hulme has had a chequered and interesting social history, the name Hulme is derived from old Norse meaning small island as it is surrounded by the rivers Irwell, Medlock and Cornbrook. Before the industrial revolution Hulme was a farm, thereafter has gone through many demolitions. From the 70s Hulme has been the citys bohemian anti establishment heart, being home to many an artist, activist and anarchist. Hulme is going through a new era with the building of a new MMU campus and cultural quarter, inc galleries and arthouse cinema. We have experienced more community here and feel safer than anywhere else in Manchester
Free metro shuttle line 2, there are 3 lines in total map is available here - (website hidden)_planning/Documents/PDFMaps/Manchester-Metroshuttle-Map.pdf

No rules beyond normal consideration.
Lovely couple, made us feel very welcome. Our room was lovely like the picture as very comfortable bed slept very well. 5 or 10 min walk to city which was ideal. All in all a very good stay.
Hanne and Simon have always been kind, and helpful in many occasions. I came to consider them friends and hope we can meet again soon. I will miss them and their lovely dog, Luna.
The host canceled this reservation 71 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
A perfect spot to stay. Close to the city and Uni - both an easy walk. The apartment is cosy, warm and a visual feast. Simon is a welcoming and host. It is easy to see why this is regularly booked up.
Hanne and Simon are wonderful hosts. They made me feel at home and I look forward to staying with them for another two months.
The flat looks just like it does in the photos - truly an artist's residence! Hanne and Simon are very nice people and made me feel very comfortable. Luna the dog got a bit nervous around me but she seems very gentle and I wasn't there long enough to bond with her.
Had a very pleasant four-day stay in Manchester with Hanne and Simon. I was greeted by Hanne, shown around the place, and introduced to their very cute (but very shy) dog. The flat is in a nice location not far from the university area or city centre, a bit of a walk to some places but very convenient to several bus routes (either on Stretford or in the All Saints' Park/Oxford Road area). The flat itself is nice and cozy, and highly recommended for anyone visiting Manchester.
About the Host, Hanne
I am an artist working primarily with metal, my partner Simon is primarily a painter but works in a variety of mediums. We are both freelance for a pyrotechnic and free arts production company in Manchester. We both love the arts, enjoy music and film, parties and generally being involved in creative projects. We get out of the city when ever we can for walks and pub dinners. We stay in Portugal every summer where we have a yurt and some land we are nurturing
