[All Carpets Freshly Steamed & Shampooed! Please ignore recent bad reviews regarding pet odor, my ex-housemate has moved out with her animals!]
Good-sized quiet carpeted upstairs bedroom with regular sized double bed. Windows on north and west sides, peek-a-boo view of San Pablo Bay through the trees. Right next to shared bathroom with tub. Share kitchen for coffee/breakfast and use washer/dryer. Adjacent to the northern ridge of Wildcat Canyon, across the street from trailhead to 8,000 acres.
House is on top of the ridge, with a view of the hills, house is adjacent to 8,000 acres of open space, East Bay hills, Wildcat Canyon. A short walk gets you up to the most amazing views of the Bay Area, and you could hike for miles if you want.
The room is fairly well appointed. Nightstand with reading light, leather covered desk for writing and half of the closet available to hang clothes. There is a chest of drawers that is empty if you need it. There is no TV.
Only 1 mile off of Hwy 80, less than 10 minutes by car to nearest Bart. Downtown SF 20 minutes driving w/out traffic, 10 to West Berkeley. Also pretty easy to get to Marin or Wine Country. This is not great if you are on foot, we're at the top of a big hill. BART train station is about 7 minutes away in a car, and usually about a $15 cab ride home from the station.
We listen to a lot of vinyl records and like almost everything - soul, funk, jazz, reggae and dance music. I have a full DJ set-up in the living room... I am a long time Bay Area resident, know the ins-and-outs... Single dad, 8-yr old daughter here about half the time. Very mellow vibes, no TV. We have WIFI, laundry, etc. We have a cat, who is small and cute. And we have a dog, who is young and friendly. [Please note, all carpets have been recently steam cleaned, some of my reviews mentioned pet odor, that was due to my housemate moving and her rooms were very funky from her animals, she's gone and everything is fresh as a daisy now!]
Our neighborhood is quiet and safe. Even though we are not far from the flats of Richmond and San Pablo, (which are more urban and lower income) this area at the top of the hill is very mellow, no crime on our street in the 5 years that I've been here. Parking is always easy.
Chances are that we might share coffee in the mornings and share Bay Area tips and travel stories. I'm also fine with you taking over the kitchen to make a feast on occasion, or just keeping some basic goodies on hand. Great farmers markets in the area.
Here's a (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Map with a lot of places I like on it:
I look forward to hearing from you!
Good luck and happy travels,
Kitchen, dining room, living room, laundry room, etc.
Interaction with guests
I'm here a lot, with my daughter half the time, mainly weekends during the school year. As long as I'm getting my work done I like to socialize a bit, although keeping it minimal is fine too. We're very easy going. I have a (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Map with cool places near here to visit and eat.
Other things to note
Rather see healthy food and not a bunch of sugary processed junk in the kitchen. Not that I care personally, but things like frosted donut holes are definitely not on my daughters staple diet, so it keeps the controversy down.
Be cool! Be quiet, respectful, mindful, easygoing, and NO TOBACCO!!! Otherwise we're civilized, don't drink personally but not opposed if it's within reason, and 420 is ok with discretion and outside only.
