We had a reservation to stay in a commercial place in Jacksonville that proved unsatisfactory with signs that there might be bedbugs and the odor of smoking (plus the chemical sprays that "cover" smoking) in every room we examined.
We went online at Barnes & Noble and belatedly checked Airbnb. We found Mary Kearney only a few miles away and were delighted when she responded to our email within minutes. The guest room was already made up. It was great to sleep on clean sheets and even have a bathroom to ourselves with fluffy towels!
Mary is a warm, engaging host who enjoys sharing a sense of community, but also gives her guests space to settle in. We felt completely at home in her kitchen, and getting our laundry done. She helped us get online using her "hotspot". We especially appreciate her friendly spirit and willingness to take us in with no advance notice!
A great experience. We were in Jacksonville for a wedding nearby, so the location was very convenient. Also just a short cab ride from the beach and all the restaurants and bars.
Mary was a wonderful hostess, and her two dogs are the sweetest. Lovely house, very quiet and confortable bedroom. Mary managed to make us feel right at home! We had a very pleasant stay.
About the Host, Mary
I am a Grandma who enjoys hosting short or extended stays for people who are comfortable with dogs. I have 2 very well behaved but very large dogs named Grace and Moonshine. I am college educated, and enjoy studying metaphysics, philosophy, and cooking. I have a flat screen and DVD player, and currently use a mobile hotspot rather than WiFi. Cable and WiFi are up for discussion for stays of more than a month.
