Beautiful location. In rustique area of city center, walking distance (5 min) to all the highlights. Excellent communication. Great facilities. Perfect bnb for 2 persons in Bucarest!
The flat is nice and has character.
Dan recommended local events happening which was really cool.
Dan was very communicative and able to respond quickly to my email (no longer than an hour). I had been warned of various types of bait and switch scams (hate to say it but it happens) but his existing reviews put me at ease, along with his friend, prompt reply.
His place is exactly as pictured, accurate photos. He does have an elliptical machine if you want to use it!
I've come to find out after venturing around a bit that his neighborhood is one of the nicest you could imagine. His studio is a couple minues from an OK Supermarket (non-stop, 24/7 grocery/convenience store), then another few steps to La Cena (open (phone number hidden) I believe) which had a wonderful menu and very helpful staff but I kept going for the pizza (best in the city as Dan said). Then I found Gargantua which is an dining experience located adjacent to a lovely park only 2 blocks north of La Cena. I ended up there nearly every day, and became addcited to the foie gras, ginseng coffee and tom yum soup! After a few days staying mostly near the apartment I took a walk to Piata Unirii which I first felt a little nervous but was comfortable with half-way through. While taxis are faster, I found myself walking a lot and was eager each day and evening to return home.
The only negative I can think of is the bathroom smell. Dan mentioned this at the outset, that because it is an antique building and much plumbing between units was original it was not as one would expect with fully modern plumbing. He could only change what was in his unit but not extending to other units without consent of all affected tenants. I have a particularly sensitive nose but still adapted within a couple days so this may not be an issue for others.
I wish I had taken Dan up on his offers to be tour guide but our timing didn't work out. He is incredibly accommodating, knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, good-natured - truly a wonderful host who is rightfully proud of his studio and how it came into his hands! His free City Puzzle app is great to see what attractions and restaurants are around. I know there are other hosts who are helpful but how many have developed an app to make a vistor's life easier?
Kudos, Dan, wishing you every success!
Dan was super awesome, the place is great, I came in super late from a flight and he waited up for me until I got there, he helped me up with my luggage and had a big bottle of water, what a stand up guy. The apt is super clean and very close to the center, if I ever come into Bucharest again I will definitely stay with Dan
Dan accommodation is very cozy and located in a very good location next to the old town center. It is one of the points which ensured us a good stay in Bucharest. Nice city and a great rest! Thank you, Dan, for it!
Dan's apartment is situated in a delightful building in a lovely, leafy part of town that is an easy walk from the city centre. It was the perfect base for my five-day stay, and everything was exactly as advertised. Dan is a very helpful host and good company, full of advice and information. He was on hand to make sure that everything went well, and readily contactable even when out of town for the weekend. I'd have no hesitation in recommending him and his place to anybody – in fact I'd say that for an enjoyable, authentic Bucharest experience it would be hard to do better.
Our experience in Bucharest was amazing because of Dan. We don't have a cell phone and he went out of his way to meet us and get us set up in his apartment. We spent a great afternoon chatting and he gave us tons information for the rest of our trip in Romania. His apartment is in a great neighbourhood, central to just about everything, and the building and apartment is full of character. Best introduction to a city we've ever had. Thanks for a great experience!
