I booked two rooms in Sally's house for Memorial Day Weekend. I had to cancel the day before because my wife wanted to join me and Sally wouldn't allow an additional person in the room. The below review is from my cousin who did stay in the Purple Room the night before I arrived.
The house was clean and beautiful. I was able to park my car in a neighbor's garage.
Unfortunately, Sally has a very strict curfew that I was not told about so I had to cancel the rest of my stay since I would be arriving late at night. Additionally, Sally did not make me feel welcome and has refused to refund my last two nights.
I'm sure others would like to stay here again, but I would not.
Because this is my private home and not a hotel, I have requirements that I expect all good guests to follow. These requirements (number of people per room, minimum reservation, and other guest expectations) are all clearly stated on my Airbnb listing. I checked the message history, and at no time did you mention that you were here for the music festival. If I had known that, I would have informed you that I do not like guests coming in and out of my house late at night (as it says on my listing, I prefer guests who keep normal day time hours). My other guests do not have a problem with being considerate in someone else's home, so I do not think it was too much to ask for you to do the same.
Overall my stay was a great experience! The home is beautiful and in a safe, quiet neighborhood. The room and the rest of the house were clean and comfortable.
Sally Jane was very nice and answered any questions I had about moving to the area. Thankfully, she was also very patient with me as I learned the alarm system.
I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a safe, clean or quiet place to stay.
Sally Jane was a very gracious host. Her house is spacious and has great appliances. She also had nice tips about good places to visit in Detroit. I would stay with her again. Thanks Sally Jane!
Friendly host, very clean house, neat and comfortable room. I really liked the back porch. There was a terrace opening directly from the room, but I didn't spend enough time in the house to actually use it.
The location was convenient, right at UDM, in a neighborhood that feels well maintained and safe. Local buses stop about 50 m from the house and take you to downtown directly in ~40-50 minutes.
Despite the general image, Detroit has a lot to offer to those who take the trouble exploring it.
Quick and easy check in, everything was clean and looked good. Bed was comfortable and was in a good location. I did accidentally set off the alarm, sorry about that.
Sally-Jane's place is perfect--clean, quiet, comfortable, and even cozy! Her house is located in a nice, quiet, safe, and leafy neighborhood towards the northern edge of Detroit. There is a huge park nearby to get some morning runs in or to just stroll through. And the house is equally close to the exciting developments in Detroit--Midtown, Downtown, etc--and the established suburbs of Ferndale and Royal Oak.
Best to have a car to explore the Motor Town. And Sally-Jane's house has super easy parking in front of the house.
Two thumbs up!
