Sometimes with airbnb you just feel like pinching yourself. For us, it is nearly always the case. And Rome was no exception. Laura and Ezio's apartment is extremely special. Very chic and ecclectic and thoughtfully presented. A lot of Ezio's fabulous artwork is featured throughout and it adds a very intimate feel. Every comfort is provided for, and they have achieved the right mix of autheniticity and modern comfort. It is in a smashing area - set amidst a plethora of gorgeous cobbled streets and laneways and surrounded by superb shops and restaurants. You feel like one of the locals here - there was a terrific cafe just a few metres away where my husband and I read the papers and people watched early each day while our kids slept in. Laura and Ezio themselves are the icing on the cake. They are so incredibly sweet and kind and enthusiastic. AND the Rome By night tour they treated us to on our final night was one of the best overseas experiences I have had. The pair of them took us on an real insider's jounrey into Rome at its most beautiful - the ultimate being when they laid out a beautiful picnic basket at the foot of the Colosseum and left us there to enjoy. Very cool people.
The apartment was in perfect location in such beautiful neighborhood. It was beautifully decorated just like the pictures. The place was spacious for our family of 5 with 3 daughters. Our 4 nights stay here was mostly great. There were some glitches due to the city being an ancient and the building is after all 400 years old and the unexpected amount of rain Rome got prior to and during our stay in mid June. By running 2 air conditioners and the washer simultaneously caused the breaker to go off and we didn't have the power for 3 hours. We weren't told to watch for this from an associate who checked us in so we didn't know. We knew the location of the breaker but it turned out there was another hidden main breaker. We also had issue with the washer. We eventually had to take out the clothes half way and hand wash them and hung them inside everywhere. The toilet, though it worked mostly, the toilet paper wouldn't flush down. Sometimes there were sewer smell coming back up the sinks. Our understanding was the river in the city was overflowing with excess rain and this was the reason for smell. Our hosts, Laura & Ezio were most accommodating thru our stay. When we contacted them with our problems with no power around 9pm, they showed up within 30 min. and eventually found the breaker and restored the power. The next day when I contacted Laura for the washer problem, she offered to come by and take our laundry to a laundromat and finish our laundry for us. Though I appreciated the offer, by then I finished hand washing them the night before which took a couple of hours, not a good way to have a vacation. She couldn't get the washer replaced during our stay. Next day Laura brought a basket full of gifts, including cooked Lasagna & fruits. That was very kind of Laura. Prior to our arrival and during our stay, Laura was always very good at communicating. I guess being in the old city like Rome, some of these issues are part of the old world experience. The location of the apartment was amazing with many near restaurants and eateries, public transportation.
A recommander !
Perfect location! Wonderfully elegant apartment ideally appointed. Comfortable beds.Laura was a very kind and gracious hostess. Lovely welcome basket, and Italian cell phone, and arrangements made for us upon request. Highest recommendations. Lovely experience.
Myself and my family recently stayed at navona home. We were met on arrival by the host and showed around . The apt itself is in a perfect location, walking distance to everything. The apt is beautifully decorated. We felt there was a lot of noise from surrounding streets and it was tight for space for the three of us . The tv was only showing Italian stations and we felt a little disappointed with that but the wii laura has there certainly helped entertain us in the evenings. I would have no problem recommending this place to friends and finally members .
There is clearly written that I do not provide international TV in my apartament. Usually when I travel I leave the house and go around the city.... read that it was nice to stay at home to play with my Nintendo Wii or you would have enjoyed the international tv ....makes me think: "Why make a long trip to Rome .....to watch TV in Piazza Navona?" Thanks a lot again Sarah :-)
Laura (email hidden) always very responsive to all our questions. we stayed here for 5 days in late May 2014.
The location of this apartment near Piazza Navona was perfect surrounded by so many restaurants to choose from each night for dinner, with the ones around the Piazza Navona a little more expensive as they have entertainment, usually guitar players or singers in the square. The apartment was a little smaller than I expected from the photos for our family of 3 but certainly adequate but little room to put suitcases and clothes away. I suggested to Laura that they should put a kettle and tea towel in the kitchen as not everyone drinks espresso coffee. We also had blocked drains in the bath and basin which we notified Laura about so she could get it fixed before the next guests arrived hopefully. This is a very old heritage listed building so the shower is above the bath and only one window opens for the entire apartment so not much fresh air as you need to keep it locked when you are out for security purposes. Being on the first floor you can clearly hear people talking in the street below but during the night it is very quiet and the beds very comfortable.
There is an airconditioner for the warmer days and nights. There is a washing machine however there is nowhere to dry your clothes - unfortunately no airer and just a tiny washing line about 12 inches long x 4 outside the bathroom window.
The location is wonderful within walking distance in any direction to all of the historical sites. Closeby is a supermarket and also a wonderful laundromat in Via del Cancello with internet and baggage storage for 1 euro per hour if you need to store your luggage before flying out later in the day. They will also arrange a driver to the airport for 50 euros including luggage. The taxis are a rip off - they will charge you heaps for luggage, etc on top of the meter reading.
Laura was very organised before and during our stay and assisted us with any query we had. We were surprised at check in to be asked for 30 euros extra for visitors tax - I'm not sure I was aware of that prior to arriving.
I would highly recommend this apartment - we had a wonderful holiday.
Thank you Laura.
THANK YOU !!!! And thanks a lot for your helpful tips for the kettle in the kitchen and thanks for letting warned of the problem that was created to the bathroom. We immediately called a plumber and solved for tourists after you!! I want you know that the fees of 30 Euros I asked you are the taxes to sleep in Rome (2 euro per night per person) but it is written on my page of Airbnb and every tourists pay in Rome. These taxes are not for me but are no fees for the municipality of Rome :-( Thanks a lot...we hope to see you again!!!
We stayed at Navona Home for a week. Laura was an absolute pleasure to do business with.
I brought my very religious mother to Rome because she wanted to do an Easter pilgrimage and see the new pope. I gathered we weren’t typical Navona Home clientele, but I chose the apartment due to its proximity to the Vatican. It was a great choice because it’s actually accessible to just about everything. There was also a taxi stand a few blocks away with plenty of taxis to take us to pilgrimage sites outside the Aurelian walls.
Via della Vetrina runs through a beautiful neighborhood. It’s more of an alley than a street. Cab drivers routinely refused to take us there or did not know how to get to it. Arriving with heavy luggage, that made for a rough start, but once we settled in we realized that the street’s relative obscurity was part of its charm – very close to Piazza Navona but sequestered from the noise and crowds.
We didn’t spend much time shopping, but Via dei Coronari, which is sort of perpendicular to Via della Vetrina, has numerous clothing, antique, and gift shops with unique and well-made souvenirs, as well as the usual Roman kitsch. My 18-year-old nephew, who visited the apartment for a few days, bought a really sharp pair of Italian leather shoes in one of the nearby shops for about 120 Euros.
Near the apartment on Via dei Coronari is a cheap little hole-in-the-wall takeout pasta place that sells the best pasta I ever ate in my life. My nephew kept running downstairs to buy cartons of the stuff to “snack on”. On the same street is the “Gelateria Del Teatro”. If you’re American you probably won’t find artisanal gelato this good except maybe in NYC. Be careful; it’s addictive.
I recommend this apartment based on location as well as the hospitality and graciousness of its owner.
