Apartment - Entire home/apt · Rue le Regrattier, Paris, Île-de-France 75004, France

The Space

Enchanting Maisonette/1-bedroom apartment sleeps 3 people and is located on the ground floors of a 20th century building on the Île Saint-Louis (Saint Louis Island), in the middle of the Seine River. The Île Saint-Louis is situated in the 4th arrondissement, which is the most sought after and prettiest area of central Paris. The streetscape is very beautiful, with a myriad of interesting shops, boutiques, and restaurants. The Cathedral of Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter, the Marais, the Centre Georges Pompidou, the St. Germain Area, the Louvre, and the Musee D’Orsay are only a few of the attractions within short walking distance from the Maisonette. Many shops and stores are close to the apartment as well : bakery, butcher, theater, restaurants, cafés, laundromat, doctors, drugstores, supermarkets - all within a short jaunt to the front door!

The apartment has a romantic and unique French "maisonette" layout, spanning across two floors and with each of the rooms described as follows:

The 18-square meter living room has hard wood floors throughout and a glass door leading to the courtyard. It is furnished with : a double sofa bed (please note that the sofa pictured in the photos has since been changed to a sofa bed that converts into a double bed!), coffee table, large flat-screen TV and several other cushions for seating. (Two people can sleep comfortably in the sofa bed which, again, is different than the one pictured above.)

The kitchen is separated from the living room by a beautiful screen and is equipped with all kitchen utensils and microwave, ceramic hob, extractor hood, fridge, and kettle.

The 17-square meter bedroom is downstairs below the living room, which you reach by climbing down a small, charming spiral staircase. The bedroom is furnished with : a comfortable, brand new double bed, night stands with lamps, bureau with six drawers, and heating/cooling unit. (Two people can sleep comfortably in the bedroom.)

The 3-square meter bathroom adjoining the downstairs bedroom has been newly renovated and features all modern shower, toilet, washbasin, and vanity amenities. (Note there is no door separating the bathroom and the bedroom.)

Adorable little outdoor courtyard behind apartment - smoking not permitted inside but one can smoke outside on this lovely little terrace!

Bed linens, blankets, pillows, and towels all provided.

The apartment is ideally located on the Île Saint-Louis; the closest metro is a four-minute walk across the bridge and is the Pont Marie metro station on the Line 7. The 20th century building is equipped with : security code, safe door and safe access.

  • The apartment is very good for sightseeing paris. The metro is absolutely perfect cause RER C go to airport, eiffel tower and Line 7 go to opera station.Above all you could see the beautiful Notre damn de paris every day. I recommand you to see the river on the bridge in night. But if you are addicted smartphone user,I don't prefer. If you are not, it make you free paris people. Bathroom don't have any door.

  • The location of the apartment is excellent!
We had a good time in Paris.

  • Pros:
    - You couldn't get more centrally located in Paris if you TRIED! Excellent for being able to walk to everything and be in the heart of such a beautiful city
    - Excellent price for location, you couldn't get a hotel nearby for near this price
    - Clean, comfortable, spacious enough and warm
    - Easy self check-in procedure
    - If you have a basic level of balance and fitness you'll have no trouble tackling the staircase, it's novel

    - Shower leaked like crazy and dehumidifier struggled to keep moisture levels down so after 10 days a damp smell remained and small amount of mould was evident. Difficult to improve based on design but maybe a better shower screen..?
    - Shower not ideal for tall people

  • The location of this quaint apartment was ideal for my friend and I. It was our first time visiting Paris, and this little district really made our trip. It is very close to public transportation, about a five minute walk to the metro station. Also, it is surrounded by several delicious eateries, cute boutiques, pubs and markets. The host Leah was very thorough and efficient when communicating with us and explaining how to get there/check in. The size of the apartment is great, and it is in a quite building. Very cutely decorated, and the cave was very comfortable to sleep in. However, there were a couple of issues we had with the apartment. We had asked Leah if there was access to WIFI. She told us that we could find any SFR store to purchase a temporary pass to access the internet. It took us forever to find the store, only to discover that this was not the case. There is no internet access from the apartment. The one other qualm with the apartment was the kitchen. There is a very nice stove, refrigerator, and microwave but no real tools for cooking. It is convenient if you want to make simple quick bites, but doesn't have the necessities to actually cook. However, overall we felt very comfortable, safe, and enjoyed our stay.

  • The room was clean and wonderful and just as represented on the pics; remember these rooms are small (see dimensions provided) they sometime appear bigger in the pics. Leah and Xavier were wonderful and got back to us when we had questions. We really recommend staying on this Isle as it was cozy and EASY to navigate around the town from this central location!! All of your daily needs are located on the Isle, from chocolate to croissants to grocery items!! The beds were comfortable, yes we tried them both as we found that when it got warmer outside it got more humid in the downstairs bedroom. There is a dehumidifier located downstairs and we let it run the whole time. We felt it was perfect for 2 or more in the same family because the bathroom was located down stairs in the master room, no door; this might be awkward for multiple families. The spiral staircase was not a problem for us but we could see how it might be for someone that has restricted mobility. Again, Xavier is a wonderful owner, Leah was out of town and we never met her. Thanks for everything!!!

  • A very nice central location in Paris. No street views of Paris from the apartment, but then no street noise either, which there can be lots of, and the street life of Cite and St Louis are only a few steps from the door. The downstairs bedroom was dry and comfortable and we only ran the dehumidifier when we were gone during the day. The downstairs bedroom is like an ancient Roman archaeological site, but with better plumbing. The apartment was really quite fun for us. If you are afraid of narrow spiral stairs or are staying with someone you are uncomfortable sharing a bathroom with, you may want to find a more traditional apartment, otherwise, this is a fine apartment for 1 or 2 people seeing Paris.

  • The flat is in a nice location but I would not recommend it for people over forty. The staircase to the bedroom can become dangerous and it is rather difficult to take luggage downstairs. The fact that the toilet is open plan and almost next to the bed is not exactly romantic; I don't know how a third person could use the toilet for example with two people sleeping on the bed. Even for a couple, this could be inconvenient. The underground bedroom can become very stuffy if noisy dehydrator on all the time can be very annoying.

The classic, clichéd "American in Paris," ever trying to perfect my French and see/experience as much of la belle France as possible... travels fueled, of course, by the power of AirBNB. ;) My love for all things European, my ability to work remotely, and an Erasmus Mundus scholarship brought me back to the continent to complete a Masters degree and learn the European market. I travel frequently between Paris and Sevilla (Spain) for work, research and love... and rent some apartments in the City of Lights and the Algarve (Portugal) in between. I have come to know all of the ins, outs, and shortcuts of intra-European travel, so don't hesitate to reach out if you need some trip-planning advice. Bon voyage !
