Interaction with Guests

The apartment is all yours.

Jane and Nigel will meet you when you arrive, to give you the keys and show you around. They live 2 minutes walk away, so can be on-hand if you have any questions or issues.

The Neighborhood

It is very close to everything, but in a location that is away from the noise.

Nice is a beautiful place, French with an injection of Italian, which shows in the architecture and food. The food in Nice is exceptional and not overly-priced.

The French people are very friendly and helpful.

The beach is a nice place to sit and relax, or go for a swim in the Mediterranean sea.

There are always things going on in and around Nice. You will never get bored here.

Getting around

Located in central Nice, just 10 minutes walk to the train station, 5 minutes walk to the beach, 5 minutes walk to the modern city centre, 5 minutes walk to the tram system, 10 minutes walk to the old city centre and 2 minutes walk to the nearest patisserie!

Nice is very easy to get to. Type 'Wikitravel Nice' into (website hidden) and go to the first result. Unfortunately airbnb does not allow me to post the URL here.

To/from Nice airport - get the 99 bus (this takes you directly to/from the Nice train station - an easy 10 minute walk to/from the apartment).

Nice is easy to walk around, but for long trips you can hop on and off the tram system, which is very cheap.

Transport is very cheap. In October 2011 I paid 3.50 Euros for a return ticket to Monaco and 12 Euros for a return ticket to Cannes.

Car parking in Nice is limited and expensive. Some details I have from the Internet:

There is a public garage just a 2 minute walk away. Airbnb doesn't let me include website addresses on here, so please search for 'interparking-france Grimaldi' in a search engine and you will find details of the car park. It is (as of January 2012) 38 Euros for 2 days, if you pay in advance.

It is a lot cheaper to use the airport car parks and then get a bus to/from the the airport and the apartment. Pricing details for this are:

Terminal 2 Parking at Nice Airport

P5 This car park is directly in front of Terminal 2 with direct access into the departures area. The first 20 minutes are free and charges then rise in stages (phone number hidden) hours.

P7 A long term car park within walking distance (depending on the amount of luggage) of Terminal 2 with the advantage of being under cover. The minimum charge is 52 euros for 4 days, and 10 euros per day after that. The height limit is 2m20.

P9 This long term car park is the furthest from either terminal but is accessed by the free shuttle. Not surprisingly it is also the cheapest at 44 euros for 4 days, and 8 euros for each extra day. No height limit.

G2 This secure underground car park is 3 euros for the first hour rising to 25 Euros per day. Height limit 2m10

Other Things to Note

Late check-in is available, at an additional charge:

Before 20:00 = Free
Between 20:00 and 22:30 = 30 Euros (payable to Jane, who you will meet at the apartment)
After 22:30 = Check-in is not available

Check out is by 10:00.

If required, luggage can be left securely at the train station (for a small fee), so you can walk around Nice without taking your bags with you.

To check out, you will just need to leave the keys on the kitchen table (quick and easy!).

A professional cleaning company will clean the apartment, towels and bedding before you arrive.

Please let me know if you would also like cleaning done during your stay as I will arrange this for you.

  • The apartment is in a quiet street & close to shops. It is easy to find.
If you have a car you will have to use street parking which you pay every 2 hours (except on Sundays & public holidays.)
Written information about local supermarkets and attractions would have been appreciated.
It was very convenient to have a washing machine at our disposal.

  • Best location ever. Close to the Mer and hundreds of restaurants. Excellent caretakers Nigel and Jane. Friendly and helpful. Paul provide assistance when I had trouble connecting to internet. It was successful. Very quiet. Small. If you need space, this is not for you. Apartment door very difficult to open. Required force and pulling.

  • Staying at Paul's place was lovely. The location was very central and it was, indeed, quiet and calm but all the life and swing of Nice is just 2 blocks away. The apartment is quite big enough for American tastes and it is designed well and the decor is light, modern and airy. The elevator was a plus and the building is secure and sound. Jane and Nigel, the agents, are lovely people and easy to contact. All in all a good stay.

  • Excellent location in close proximity to the beach, train station and Old Nice. A/C was great for cooling down after a hot day. The washing machine was broken upon our arrival, but it was fixed and we were able to wash our clothes before heading to our next destination. This apt was a real gem and I'd definitely stay here again! Jane was super welcoming and pointed out the local spots. Of note, if calling from a US or Canada number, be sure to dial "00" before the rest of the numbers.

  • We had a great stay at Paul's apartment.

Slept 3 comfortably, very clean and great location.

Jane and Nigel were fantastic, they met us halfway from the station to ensure that we didn't get too lost (although Paul's directions were very clear anyway!).

The Location of the apartment was fantastic... walking distance to the beach, and Old Town and 10 mins from the train station (15mins on the train to Monaco/Monte Carlo).

We had a couple of little hiccups with the Television, and washing machine, but we were able to contact Jane and Nigel without any hesitation and things were fixed promptly.

Overall a wonderful stay - great location, but still nice and quiet and it was lovely to return home to an air conditioned room, and a super comfortable bed and sofa!

Paul was great to liaise with... always replied to e-mails promptly - very easy to contact.

Would definitely recommend this apartment for anyone wanting to visit Nice.

  • We had a great holidays in Nice staying in Paul's apartment. Location is perfect - in the middle of the way from the train station to the sea. So either you are going to enjoy the beach or to travel to neighboring towns it takes you not more than 10-15 min. Bus stop is just around the corner. Apartment overlooks the patio and heading east, so no street noise and no direct sun after noon.
So, I would recommend this place for anyone to stay.

  • Awesome stay in Nice thanks to Paul and his hosts, Jane & Nigel. Apartment is only a few minutes walk to the beach and the Promenade. Many restaurants to choose from within a very short walk as well. We very much enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to rent again from Paul next time we're in town. Thanks!

  • My stay at Paul's flat was fantastic.

It was raining when I arrived at the train station and I have no navigational skills so got lost quickly (despite Paul's clear instructions). Jane & Nigel came to find me and brought an umbrella (something I also didn't have) and it was such a relief!

They showed me to the apartment and I was so happy to see there was a lift - I was dreading having to carry my suitcase up stairs after getting lost earlier. (Afterwards, they even showed me where the supermarket was so I could buy some groceries).

The flat is pretty spacious and larger than what I was expecting (for a European flat, so close to the action). It was clean and modern and I quickly felt right at home.

The bathroom/shower was amazing and felt like it should've been in a fancy hotel. Nothing better than a nice hot shower at the end of the day!

The bed was very comfortable and there were firm and soft pillows so I could choose what I wanted. There is some noise in the courtyard on Friday & Saturday nights, but it isn't too late into the night to be of annoyance.

The kitchen is well appointed with hot plates, an oven, a microwave and a kettle - again, more than I was expecting from a European apartment.

As I mentioned before the flat is quite close to everything. Only a few minutes walk to the pedestrian zones which are filled with supermarkets, clothing shops, bakeries, restaurants etc.

The whole process was easy and smooth - Paul, Jane and Nigel were always prompt and friendly in communication and it put my mind at ease to know I could rely on them if something happened.

I would highly recommend this flat for your stay in Nice - you won't find better for price, comfort, space and quality.

Thanks to Paul, Jane & Nigel for a wonderful stay!

I love computers, cooking, sports, food, photography, travel and adventure! I am from England and have traveled quite a bit - France (many times!), East and West coasts of America, East Canada, many countries within Europe, Turkey, some of the Greek Islands, Lebanon, South Africa... The list keeps growing! Some of my best holidays have been: - Food tour of Lebanon - Photography course in Italy - Winter Mountaineering course in Scotland - Flying over the Grand Canyon - Boat trip at Niagara Falls - South Africa (for work and holiday) - Spending time in Nice, France; which is like a second home to me! :-) I speak some French, which has come in useful in countries such as France, Canada, Switzerland and Lebanon.
