Large, private sleeping loft (above livingroom) w/full mattress, in classic Upper West Side apartment; steps from Central Park. Old school charm, exposed brick, hand carved fireplace, QUIET tree lined street, mid 70's, close to B,C,1,2,3, subways; anything else you could need within 3 blocks!
Seriously, others will say it, but this IS THE BEST LOCATION IN ALL OF MANHATTAN. You cannot be immersed in this much foliage and nature, while still being smack dab in the middle of all of New York City's finest!
The loft is a peaceful space for sleeping or reading, featuring a full sized, memory foam mattress with headboard. You can also watch a movie from the 32" HD flat screen in loft. Along with exposed brick walls, there are high 20 foot ceilings, a beautiful hand carved wooden and tiled fireplace (decor), along with a lovely "Juliette" balcony outside the window where you can catch the morning sun while you have your coffee! This is a one bedroom apartment, along with the sleep loft, and I stay in the bedroom. So it is a shared situation.
The building is an old school brownstone building. It does not have an elevator; it is a 3rd floor walk up.
~ Armoire with hangers
(at the foot of the sleep loft, so you do not have to take your luggage up the loft ladder!)
~ Cable HD TV, DVDs, WiFi
~ Small Juliette balcony at treetop level off main room
~ Full access to kitchen; gas stove, dishwasher, coffee grinder/maker, rice cooker, toaster oven, microwave, all utensils, etc...
~ Shared bathroom with tub, complimentary soap, shampoo & conditioner
~ Fresh sheets/linens and towels provided
~ You will have your own set of keys
Interaction with Guests
Although I may or may not be around very much, this is a shared situation with myself in the bedroom (you in the sleeping loft). I am very willing to help and guide you, or create space and privacy for you... whatever makes you more comfortable. If I am in the apartment, I have full access to all main spaces: kitchen, bathroom, main living room as you do. (When home, I work out of my room, which gives you much privacy in the main room).
***I do have 1 cool, clean cat, but he mainly stays by me.
After morning coffee, go around the corner to The American Museum of Natural History, or for a stroll around the Lake in Central Park!
Central Park is beautifully landscaped and has miles of adventurous hiking and activities, including Shakespeare in the Park (for free) & the Central Park Zoo. Also, see Belvedere Castle, Strawberry Fields, Turtle Pond, or catch a bike Taxi 2 blks away to give you a personal tour of the park and it's history! The American Museum of Natural History is right around the corner, the famous Gray's Papaya on 72nd! Tons of amazing restaurants within walking distance. Most other attractions are 10-30 minute walking distance or subway ride away... (see "GETTING AROUND/QUICK REFERENCE: Subways" below)
Upscale food markets like Balducci's and Fairway are nearby, as well as Trader Joe's, and a Duane Reade, Chase and Starbucks all a block away, designer shops, Broadway is 3 blks away with larger shops like Sephora, Modell's Sports, Office Max... literally anything else you could need within 3 blocks of this apartment.
There are many busses on all surrounding streets, along with the subway B, C, 1, 2 & 3 lines. Cabs are always convenient and available 1/2 blk on Columbus or Central Park West.
Closest subway is 81st Street Stop in Manhattan - the B and C lines.

Other Things to Note
*This is a 3rd floor walk up - no elevator.
*As you can see from the pictures, there is LADDER to get up to the loft. Please take note this if you have any physical limitations that may prevent you from being able to use.
Also, it IS a family friendly apartment, but because of the outside balcony & loft, I do not think it is safe for children less than 8 years old.

Our stay was very nice, I could say that was much better than a five star hotel because the apartment is strategically located: half block from Central Park, one block from the Natural History Museum, 4 or five blocks of strawberry field, around 3 or four blocks from several metro stations (metro stations are key to save a lot of time). Our experience was delightful, I highly recommend it. Of course one of the most important things was that Wendy and Michael made us feel at home.
Wendy's apartment is perfect for a little stay in the city- the upper west side location is beautiful and quiet and close to subway stations , shops and Central Park. The loft bed would be more suited to a young couple or solo traveller-as the listing suggests. Great when you've spent a day in the hustle and bustle of the central district and want to escape a little after a busy day of sight seeing. Wendy was a great host-she was happy to make suggestions and was very welcoming!
My husband and I couldn't have been happier with Wendy and Michaels amazing apartment. Very clean, great decor and the location was prime. Two minute walk to many subway lines. Gorgeous tree lined quiet street. Most of all we appreciated their gracious welcoming attitude, very positive and awesome people!
We spent a very limited amount of time in the actual apartment but when we were there for sleeping and showering we had absolute privacy. We felt very comfortable. Wendy was flexible with our later check out on Sunday as we flew out in the evening.
Thank you guys so much for enabling an amazing New York experience. We will definitely be back!
Wendy nous a très bien accueillis, et nous a bien conseillés sur quelques trucs à faire/manger dans son quartier. L'appart est très calme, on y dort super bien, et le quartier est super beau. Un vrai régal!
Wendy & Michael were just incredible! It felt like we were visiting family. They were so helpful & really made us feel at home. The apartment was SO clean, cozy & we couldn't have asked for a better location near central park and easy access to subway.

Artist, writer, musician, holistic health expert, lover of nature... I have been an artist throughout my life, mostly inspired by humanity, and the beauty of this planet. My fiance, Michael, is here periodically. I am an earthy girl from the Midwest... and he is an original "New Yorker" and can tell you anything about the city! We are very laid back folks & would love to meet you.
