Welcome to the Creole Attic, located in the hip and cool Historic Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans. Whether you’re here for an event, holiday, to hang out, or rejuvenate your soul, we’ll make you feel at home in our newly renovated upstairs guest apartment.

The Space

There are 2 private bedrooms, both with queen size beds. There's room to move around and the ceilings are high. It's a surprisingly open and spacious feel for an attic. You have your own central air conditioning and heating for you to control.

Guest Access

Access is through a big side gate at the sidewalk down a brick path to the back porch entry.

Interaction with Guests

I work from home so I'm always here. If there is anything you'd like to know about New Orleans feel free to ask. The city has something for everyone. I want to make your stay enjoyable and fulfilling.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is a collection of colorful houses and colorful people. We have interesting restaurants, occasional corner bars and stores, and the riverfront Crescent Park. All of these are within a few blocks.
The people of the Bywater are an eclectic mix of generational families, artists, musicians and fresh young faces. You are encouraged to be yourself, come as you are, and live life at a relaxed pace.

Getting around

We have 4 bicycles with locks. They are available for a cash deposit refunded in full upon their safe return.
We're 2 blocks from the bus that goes right through the French Quarter, and 1 block from the return bus stop. A 1-day Jazzy Pass is $3 and is good for all day on all buses and streetcar lines. They can be purchased on the bus.
A taxi ride to the French Quarter is under $10. We like United Cab.
It's a 20 minute walk which is nice during the day to see the variety of architectural styles that are unique to New Orleans. Locals are friendly so say hello along the way.

  • The Creole Attic is a wonderful, roomy, quiet apartment that is well equipped and very comfortable. Bernie was warm and friendly, and made us feel right at home. He shared his favorite restaurants and bars...which became our Faves as well! This is a great area with easy access to everything..thanks Bernie!

  • 49 super positive feedbacks; was it a hoax? did Bernie exist? And YES, all is true! Bernie and his partner were just as marvelous as all feedbacks say. We had three wonderful days in NOLA, and the Creole Attic was a large part of that. The apartment is the second floor on top of Bernies own. He works from home, so you almost always find him and his warm and generous help. If not, he answered via SMS in a couple of minutes! Bernie even helped us with our laundry - say no more ;-)
Creole Attic was prepared so nicely with everything from towels, fruit and all.
Bernie helped us with what to do when going to/from NOLA, and of course all possible help with what to do in town.
The little extra with the stay was the four new and cool cruisers (bikes) that were there for us - SUPER!!
We could not ask for more; Bernie and the Creole Attic did make the trip to NOLA unforgettable!

  • Bernie and Rick were so warm and welcoming to us! The Creole Attic is a perfect location convenient to public transportation or you can use the bikes to travel to the French Quarter that Creole Attic generously supplies! This was my first booking with Airbnb and it was perfect! Don't hesitate to contact Bernie if you need a great place to stay while visiting this vibrant city!! You will not be disappointed!!!

  • The friends we shared the apartment with wrote, "Bernie's Creole Attic is a wonderful home-away-from-home while enjoying New Orleans. It is an unexpected cozy yet spacious, tasteful and modest yet upscale retreat in a great location. Bernie's welcome upon our arrival and subsequent warm and friendly interactions gave me confidence that had we needed aid or recommendations, we would have received trustworthy information. Bernie's Creole Attic gets five stars from us!"

We agree completely. The Creole Attic is both a great home base to tour from and a relaxing refuge to return to. We had two cars, but we could always park close. We walked to the French Quarter and Louis Armstrong Park and took the bus back with no problem.

Bernie gave us helpful information so we found great places to eat and to visit in Bywater (and elsewhere in the city and out). Having bikes is a plus. I got to ride around the neighborhood early one morning and see more of it close up than I could have walking. You could easily use them to go to breakfast or lunch.

All of us highly recommend a stay at Bernie's place and hope to return soon.

  • Bernie's attic is the best place to be! Very clean, well appointed and very good AC! Walked to the French quarter during the day and felt safe. Bernie was a gracious host. Highly recommend his Creole attic and would definitely go back!

  • The Creole Attic was as wonderful as we hoped it would be. The apartment was clean and inviting and our hosts were great. I absolutely recommend these accommodations. While you're there, go for a bike ride, too. Bikes are provided. Enjoy the courtyard in back, and the many restaurants in walking distance. Go, have fun, and relax.

  • What a wonderful treasure hidden in the eclectic Bywater neighborhood. Bernie's Creole Attic was a wonderful place to stay and be a guest. Bernie and his patner helped us up the stairs with all our luggage and gave us a mini tour of Bywater and New Orleans upon our arrival (we needed to pick up tickets in town). It is close to buses for transport and we had no trouble parking on the one way street. One of his neighbors, a professional musician, would often play music in the early hours, and you could sit outside on the porch and listen to music while enjoying, Bernie's backyard. Bernie was a gracious and accomodating host (he even did our laundry!).

  • Everything was exactly as you see it in the photos. It was beautiful, clean and comfortable. Like all the other reviews say, Bernie was awesome! He was so helpful and even brought us to the airport to help us out as we left. At first I was worried about the area and that it wasn't close to the busy French Quarter, but it was perfect for us. We aren't party people and we brought two tiny babies. We walked all day in the tourist areas and then rested here after dinner. The area is very bohemian and the restaurants that are near Bernie's place actually had better food than any place we tried in the FQ.

  • The hosts were wonderful. The place was perfect.

  • We had one of our best experiences ever at the Creole Attic.

It is located in the most vibrant and exiting zones in New Orleans. Everything starts here. New original bars and restaurants popping up all over the place, making sure you'll experience authentic and original foods and beverages making New Orleans what it is. Art is everywhere. On the street, in the houses and every restaurant or bar. And attractions such as Frenchmen street and Bourbon street are a nice stroll away. even though bikes are available to explore the city in all freedom.

Which takes me to Bernie and Rick, the hosts of the Creole Attic. They know exactly what is going on where and will point you to it. We had a great time with them. They made sure we found the places we wanted to find, we made a great BBQ together and in short made sure we had an excellent time!

We can recommend everybody to stay with them while in NOLA, really the best hosts ever!!!
