Welcome to the Creole Attic, located in the hip and cool Historic Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans. Whether you’re here for an event or holiday, to hang out, or rejuvenate your soul, we’ll make you feel at home in our upstairs guest apartment.
There are 2 private bedrooms, both with queen size beds. There's room to move around and the ceilings are high. It's a surprisingly open and spacious feel for an attic. You have your own central air conditioning and heating that you control. We have a strict 4-guest limit.
Access is through a big side gate at the sidewalk down a brick path to the back porch entry.
Interaction with Guests
I work from home so I'm always here. If there is anything you'd like to know about New Orleans feel free to ask. The city has something for everyone. I want to make your stay enjoyable and fulfilling.
Our neighborhood is a collection of colorful houses and colorful people. We have interesting restaurants, occasional corner bars and shops, and the riverfront Crescent Park. All of these are within a few blocks.
The people of the Bywater are an eclectic mix of generational families, artists, musicians and fresh young faces. You are encouraged to be yourself, come as you are, and live life at a relaxed pace.
We have 2 men's and 2 women's bicycles with locks. It's the best way to get around.
We're 2 blocks from the bus that goes right through the French Quarter, and 1 block from the return bus stop. A 1-day Jazzy Pass is $3 and is good for all day on all buses and streetcar lines. They can be purchased on the bus.
A taxi ride to the French Quarter is under $10. We like United Cab.
It's a 20 minute walk which is nice during the day to see the variety of architectural styles that are unique to New Orleans. Locals are friendly so say hello along the way.
After 10pm weekdays and midnight weekends is quiet time. We love our neighbors and they love us.
Smoke whatever you want OUTSIDE!!!
Bernie is a superb host! We felt welcomed from the very first second we met him. The very best! His wonderful Creole Attic is tasteful, comfortable, and even homey. Bernie is so very knowledgeable about all things New Orleans and Louisiana. I honestly cannot say enough about how terrific it was to rent his Creole Attic. Did I mention the central air? Delish!
Bernie welcomed us upon our arrival with fresh fruit and flowers! The apartment was everything we hoped it would be and was perfect for all our needs. Bernie went above and beyond to make our New Orleans experience truly unforgettable. The morning we left I felt like I was saying goodbye to an old friend. The apartment was perfect for two couples as promised and the Bywater location was excellent for sightseeing yet quiet for sleeping. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting New Orleans. You will not be disappointed if you stay here!
We had a great stay. The house is clean and welcoming, as were our hosts. Several very good restaurants and bars tucked away in the neighborhood, and charming houses. We loved biking around on the household beach cruisers. It's an easy ride to the French quarter, but you may just want to stick around bywater. Would definitely go back!
We had such a blast at Bernie's place! It's adorable, comfy, and only a 10/15 minute bike ride to the French quarter( he has bikes for you to borrow)! The icing on the cake is Bernie and his partner- so nice, friendly, and helpful! We really enjoyed talking with them. Really hope to be back here soon!
Bernie is the greatest host you could imagine for your journey in NOLA! The place is well-located, welcoming, enjoyable & quiet. We biked around the whole city with Bernie's bikes and really enjoy our stay. We would definitely recommend Bernie's for a unique and pleasant place to stay. Bernie was easy to reach for any questions or stay-related needs. Bernie is fun to discuss with and has excellent insight of life in New Orleans. Thank you so much ! xo
Bernie was the best host for the trip and he met us right at the door of his lovely home. He truly held all of the New Orleans zest in his illuminate smile. What started as a small tour of the beautiful attic apartment we would live in for the next few days became a conversation about local sights and the best food in town. His charm could be said that Southern hospitality was invented by this happy and genuine man. We thanked him kindly for all of his advice, took our keys and became official residents of New Orleans. If we needed advice for a place to eat or a sight to see, Bernie was the go to guy! I felt like a native after the first day! He gave us bikes and he told us about the first parade of Mardi Gras. My boyfriend and I were completely welcomed by Bernie and his partner. When he dropped us off at our station, I wished I could have stayed longer! When I come back to New Orleans, I won't look for anyone else! Thank you Bernie!
Great place - very clean, well stocked with dishes and even some fresh fruit and snack bars. Comfy beds and Bernie was very helpful and hospitable! We really enjoyed Bachanal - Bernie's neighborhood recommendation. Little bit of walk to French Quarter...
Fifth generation New Orleanian with a heart full of love for our city. My greatest joy is helping visitors make the most of their trip, since there are so many hidden gems that only a local would know about. I'm a laid back easy going guy with an adventurous spirit. My partner is an Illinois farm boy that has put down his roots here too. We both come from big wonderful families.
