Interaction with Guests
My mom lives in the main house (in front of the cottage), and we live 5 minutes away, so we're around if needed, but otherwise the back cottage and deck are tucked away behind a fence :)
Our cottage is in (we think!) the perfect location to enjoy all that Santa Cruz has to offer - we're only blocks from downtown, the boardwalk, the wharf, and Cowell's beach. You can walk to the beach for coffee and breakfast at the Picnic Basket in the morning, bask in the sun on the deck in the cottage in the afternoon, and then walk downtown for dinner at night. Also, the walking path and pontoon path in Neary Lagoon is a hidden treasure, with all sorts of beautiful wildlife.
Other Things to Note
Like many other popular rentals, we have been contacted by the city to collect a transient occupancy tax of 11% of the total cost (before AirBNB fees). I'm sure all rentals will be collecting this very soon (all hotels currently collect it) - help us in being compliant with the law :). If you are interested in booking, we will send you an amended offer including this tax. Please accept this amended offer to confirm your reservation.
We are very pleased to share our living space with you. Occasionally, our very friendly medium-sized dog, Kona, pays a visit and roams the yard. Please be sure you are comfortable with this!
Two night minimum if staying Saturday night (i.e. Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday).
We want you to have a great time and really enjoy Santa Cruz! This cottage is behind the main house, which is where my mom lives. While we are all about having a good time and enjoying life, if you are looking to party hard and play loud music at all hours of the night, perhaps this is not the place for you. Please no smoking in the cottage or on the property!
The description was accurate, the hosts were quite hospitable without being intrusive, and the neighborhood is great. I had perhaps the best nights of sleep in 5 years, thanks in equal part to the tranquility of this cottage and the fact that my kids stayed home. The only negative aspect was the unreliable wifi. All in all, I would happily stay here again.
Carla (and her mother) were welcoming and attentive to getting us comfortably settled in. This is a beautiful little college nestled in the backyard of their property with an awesome 10 minutes walk to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk thru the Neary lagoon. Honestly, the walk was better than the beach.
Be sure and check out the lagoon it is a beautiful wildlife/waterfowl refuge hidden in the heart of Santa Cruz. If you're lucky enough to snag some of the avocados that fall from the tree by the back porch you end up with some awesome guacamole.
This was a super comfortable and located in a great area. Carla was great to coordinate with and very nice. We walked to the beach and could have walked to downtown Santa Cruz, too. We drove here along the coast from San Francisco, and stopped at the Cowell redwood park. We found a fun craft beer bar in downtown Santa Cruz, too. Was a wonderful trip!
We enjoyed our stay at Carla's place, nice location and comfortably furnished. We recommend the walk through Neary Logoon nearby, very peaceful. Easy to walk into town and the boardwalk.
Lovely little place to stay in Santa Cruz, within walking distance of downtown and the boardwalk. The cottage is not large but it was still comfortable for two adults and two small children, assuming you will spend most of your time out exploring. Carla was very welcoming and was great about communication.
Very clean and light accommodation in a quiet area. Lovely sitting out area. Highly recommended.
Carla was lovely as was the space. I had everything I needed and they recommended a fabulous restaurant that I swooned over.
I would definitely return.
