The Cloud Nine is named after Sara's Grandmother and Aunts cabin in Colorado, built by their own hands. Cloud nine is great place for writers and artist as there is a huge desk under the honeycomb windows that look onto the beautiful hillsides.

The Space

The CLOUD NINE room has two new very comfortable twin beds. The bathroom has new modern plumbing and great hot water and pressure. The bathroom counters are Terrazzo with glittery dichroic glass bits. The cloud headboards for each bed were carved in the state of MIchoacan for this room. There are two sweet honeycomb shaped windows that look onto the hillsides of Guanajuato. Under the window is a long desk for writing, drawing, thinking and working. The floors are hand made mosaic tiles from San Miguel Allende. Sara designed the mold herself, so enjoy this original patterned floor. There is also wi-fi and a fantastic patio that looks onto Guanajuato and the church up in Valenciana.

The Golden Bee is located on a bus line, just step outside and walk 15 feet to a bus stop. All buses go to the centro and if you cross the street you can catch a city bus that will take you the Mine and into the centro from that direction. Also you can just walk down hill and through one of Guanajuato’s famous tunnels into the beauty of the centro fro restaurants and museums. Buses are 5 pesos and Taxis to and from the centro is around 35 pesos.

The Golden Bee is all new construction using a new material called Convintec. Coventec is considered a lead platinum green product. It is a structural wired panel filled with a rigid insulation, which is than stuccoed. In completion of the Golden Bee we will have solar water heaters and solar lighting capabilities. We are now is the first stage of building. The second stage will be to add a dance studio with a dorm in order to provide a space for rejuvenating retreats. We apologize that the kitchen on this floor is not competed but will be soon. The kitchen is out on the patio and there is a fridge available. It is a communal kitchen for the two apartments on the second floor.

We also have a house sitter in the next-door room called THE NEST; He is a wonderful designer and architect named Damian. Also at the Golden Bee lives Damians, black chihuahua named Newton, little sweet kitty named Einstein, and our doggie, Tullia Toolbox (named after the last Queen of Roma).

There is a beautiful stone wall that surrounds the property and a fifty year old Garambullo cactus that is magnificent.

The Golden bee is situated in a residential neighborhood but is only a ten-minute walk from down town. Little business and eateries are popping up all the time. A food stand just opened up across the street and there are little grocery stores within walking distance. If you head up the hill behind the Golden bee there is a beautiful old church at the top with a sweet plaza out front.

Guest Access

Cloud nine has a very nice patio with a shared kitchen with THE NEST. The kitchen is now 100% completed with a fridge, stove and oven and a tap for filtered drinking water. See the new pictures soon.

Interaction with Guests

The kitchen is shared with Damion who is the caretaker of the Golden Bee. He lives in THE NEST.

The Neighborhood

The Golden Bee is located between two neighborhoods. Barrio Neuevo is below and Mellado is above. There are little shops, mostly family owned grocery stores scattered around. People use the Panoramica for jogging in the morning. It is more of a residential neighborhood so it is a little quieter than downtown. There is always something new happening. One of our neighbors has a micro brewery and another has a barbeque stand. If you walk up the hill behind The Golden Bee at the top of the hill there is an old plaza and church.

Getting around

There is a bus stop right out front. You can get a big bus that goes the long way around and into town or a little bus that shoots down Barrio Nuevo and or back up. It is easy to get a taxi up to The Golden Bee. It might be a little wait for a taxi going down. Walking down town is a downhill 10 minuet walk.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Awesome, lovely space! I was upgraded to the Panoromantica suite because Sara was making improvements to the Golden Bee. What a treat! Everything you possibly need for an extended stay is there (in both places) - and artistically beautiful to boot! Sara is super friendly, upbeat and helped me with so many things during my stay. The walk into the town is about 15-20 minutes and a taxi costs about $3.00. The local buses literally stop right at the doorstep of Cloud 9 - and cost a little over $1.00. (I suggest walking into town but, because of the super steep hills coupled with the altitude, taking a taxi or bus on the way back) The views from the terraces are terrific and the sunsets - Wow! Not only would I recommend this place to others, I plan to come back and stay for an entire month later in the year.
