About This Listing
Welcome to beautiful Valley City, North Dakota, 'City of Bridges' and Gateway to the Sheyenne River Valley National Scenic Byway.
We hope you choose to stay with us during your visit!
Three Oaks Guest Inn was built in 1915. It is a cozy, fully furnished home with all its original oak woodwork, columns, built-ins & open stairway. Choose from 3 comfortable bedrooms or a foldout couch or twin bed on the three season porch.
The nicely decorated dining and living rooms, and fully furnished, modernized kitchen, make it perfect for either large or small groups...quiet family vacations, small meetings, bridal and baby showers, graduation receptions, birthday parties, girlfriend/scrap-booking/quilting getaways, family reunions, or any other sort of friendly get-togethers . Three Oaks Guest Inn is a true 'home-away-from-home'.
A second stairway goes from the backyard to the basement, where there is an extra kitchen sink, lots of counter space, a large freezer, and laundry facilities. This makes it ideal for hunters.
There is a huge lot for outdoor activities, and several flowerbeds to check out.
We are within an easy walking distance to downtown restaurants & pizza places, the large antique store, quilting supply shop, Barnes County Historical Society Museum, grocery stores, churches and other shops. Valley City is on the Sheyenne River Valley National Scenic Byway and Three Oaks is 1 block off the North Country Trail.
Relax on the bank of the Sheyenne River and watch the birds, animals, and turtles or light up the fire pit for a memorable evening.
Three Oaks Guest Inn has cable TV, wireless internet, and central air, but bedrooms and the family-style bathroom are all on the 2nd floor, so it is not handicap accessible.
Rent the main floor for a few hours for a meeting or to celebrate a special occasion, or rent the whole house for a night or a more. Weekly and monthly rates are available for extended stays and vacation rental.
STATE & LOCAL SALES & LODGING TAX OF 10.5% IS ALREADY INCLUDED IN THE PRICE.
Guests have full use of the whole house and yard, including the kitchen.
We have cable TV, wireless internet and central air conditioning.
Guests have the use of the whole main floor and the kitchen is available for them to do whatever cooking they wish (just leave the dirty dishes in the dishwasher). There is a gas BBQ grill and a firepit in the back yard.
Guests have access to their own room and the family style bath on the 2nd floor.
There is a clothes washer and dryer in the basement
Interaction with Guests
We try to be there to greet our guests when they arrive, but if for some reason we can't be there in person, we ask them to call when they arrive so I can give them a 'phone tour'.
Depending on the guests, We may only visit long enough to go thru the basics of where things are, or if they have lots of questions or an interest, we can show them around outdoors, talk about the house's history, the guest's and our own families & backgrounds, were to go and what to see in our town, area, or state, or anything between. We can visit for a few minutes to a few hours, and are only a phone call away to answer any other questions.
Besides being on the river, we love the tall trees, large yards, older houses, friendly neighbors, and the overall peace and quiet of our neighborhood.
City taxi is available, but a lot of things are within walking distance.
Other Things to Note
If the calendar shows the whole house booked, please check the individual rooms for availability. It may be there is only one of the rooms rented, but that would make it impossible for someone else to rent the 'whole' house.
Our main rule is no smoking indoors. If you must smoke outdoors, please pick up your butts!
We prefer no pets, though service animals are OK.
Please leave the place neat when you leave. You don't need to vacuum floors or stuff like that, but, please put your dirty dishes in the dishwasher. I will start it when I get there to clean.
If the trash is full or smelly, please put it in the garbage can outside the back door.
There are trash cans for re-cycling just inside the back door. Acceptable items are listed on each.
We are also available for event rentals at $30 for up to 4 hours or $50 for 8 hours. You can bring your own paper plates, etc., or use one of our sets of stoneware or beautiful antique china ($20 extra). After an event, you are expected to leave the premises in the condition it was when you arrived, though unwashed dishes in the dishwasher are OK.
Weekly and monthly rates are negotiable, depending on how long you plan to stay and how many people. For stays over a week, if you bring your own towels & bedding, there is also a discount.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call us !
