Modern, well-designed interior, especially compared to other options at this price point in Tokyo. Took 3 years to painstakingly renovate/re-design. It was a labor of love but the result was well-worth it. Located on small cul-de-sac at the end of quaint shopping street so very convenient but quiet at all times. Traditional Japanese neighborhood feel but right in the city so you get the best of both worlds.

We love the house. All as described. Near to metro station and moving around such a breeze. We have no complain and just would like to thank Alfie and Kenji for their hospitality.
The house is very clean and a lot of shop nearby. You don't have to worry about getting something to eat or some groceries.
Great stay in Tokyo. Alfie's home is beautiful, well equipped and in a great location. Hosts were welcoming and helpful
Our hosts Alfie and Kenji made us feel very welcome with their lovely home. Every morning coffee, pastries and fruit were provided. Their house is very clean, comfortable and safe. The guys even bought our 4 year old daughter some lovely macarons, and my husband some Nato, as he was keen to try some whilst in Japan. The location is perfect as it is close to Kanamecho Metro station which is one stop from the hustle and bustle of Ikebukuro. This was our third time to Japan and we hope to stay with Alfie and Kenji in future.
We had a lovely stay at Alfie and Kenji's! They are professional AirBnB hosts and provided everything we needed to make our stay cozy. They provided tourist maps and guide books, and spent time with us when we arrived to give us suggestions of what to do. They even bought some luxury pastries when they heard it was my sons birthday. I highly recommend this stay!
The house was very homely and we were provided breakfast, tea and coffee everyday during our stay there. We were also provided free wifi dongle to use during our time in Tokyo. Great host as we had issues with the wifi dongle, they provided us snacks as compensation. I would definitely go back there again to stay if I am back there in Tokyo.
Glad you guys enjoyed your stay with us! It was great having you here. We took the dongle to Softbank to get it checked out right after your stay - it turns out that the dongle is perfectly fine - the problem was that data was throttled which is why it was running so slow: if you exceed 1 gigabyte over a 3 day period, Softbank will throttle it for a 4 day period after that. We will be sure to explain that to future guests to avoid any issues - nothing worse than slow internet! Take care!
First time user of Air bnb. Thorough and simple checkin / directions to house. Location was convenient to Fukutoshin subway line which runs to main areas such as Shinjuku, Harajuku and Shibuya. One metro stop from Ikebukuro station where you can connect to Narita Express & JR Yamanote loop line (free for JR pass holders). A nice flat stroll home past grocery store, chemist and local restaurants. House was as described. Our little boy received an unexpected welcome gift. Morning coffee brewing was always great to wake up to. Hosts were invisible but there enough for chats and queries, very easy going. Home wifi and mobile router were a very handy addition for our stay. Positive experience, we would highly recommend.
Had an amazing time at Alfie and Kenji's home during the cold winter days of December. Best thing was the heated toilet seat; something I got used to far too quickly. Another amazing aspect was the amount of vending machines along the street on the way to his home. Always got myself a warm drink on the way home.
The place was clean, tidy and extremely welcoming with a selection of breads, fruit and coffee every single morning. Alfie and Kenji have spoiled my partner and I's expectations for accommodation and nothing can possibly compare anymore. Thank you for the lovely experience. Highly recommend.
Born & raised in Texas but based in Tokyo now. Run airbnb with my Japanese businesss partner, Kenji. Early 30's, mature, respectful professionals who work hard but know how to enjoy life. With our Southern/Texas & Japanese backgrounds, hospitality comes quite naturally to us. I studied abroad in Bangkok, Thailand and Paris, France and Kenji studied abroad in NYC during our university days so definitely have a global perspective on things.
Interested in traveling, photography, skin care, cooking, home renovation & interior design. Spent about 3 years designing and renovating the house. Our design aesthetic is clean, modern and uncluttered; a bit Japanesey with a mid-century modern flair. Although we are done with most of our interior design projects, we are continuously looking for ways to improve the comfort and design of our space.
We love good quality food/ingredients, nice wine, and Japanese beer. We have a particular weakness for champagne & macarons. We also love collecting good quality cookware and kitchen gadgets and have a small but growing collection of Japanese knives and handmade Japanese ceramic dinnerware. Love watching cooking & design shows and never get tired of a good old-fashioned make-over.
I fell in love with Tokyo when I first moved here and haven't stopped being amazed by the city every single day. Best place in the world for food, fashion, and shopping as far as I'm concerned. The most fulfilling part of having guests for me is that it gives me the opportunity to help others discover the city and fall in love with it too.
