This was our first Airbnb experience and I must say it was a good one! We got there later than we anticipated, but Alfie was home and welcomed us. After an exhausting flight, we had dinner with Alfie. It was great to get to know him and have him tell us about Japan. It was a good first night overall! The home is located in a cute neighborhood, with neighbor shops in between. The house was nice and clean just as expected. We didn't get to meet Kenji until the last day, but they both were absolutely respectful and friendly hosts making you feel at home.
This was a great stay near in Japan and we can't thank them enough for making our stay enjoyable as well!
Alfie is a fantastic host. Their abode is super quiet, clean, organized and made we fell at home. Station is only six minutes by foot. Breakfast (bread&fruits)
is delicious. I highly recommend their abode .
Alfie and Kenji were awesome hosts, we only stayed with them for 1 week, but felt at home in Tokyo from the get-go, something you won't feel at a hotel.
The house is modern, well kept, and as described. Alfie and Kenji make sure you have everything you need - the pocket WiFi was very handy and got some good use.
The house is perfectly situated too, Kanamecho metro station is only a 5 minute walk away, you can catch two different metro lines from here, both of which cover near enough all of the key locations in Tokyo. Ikebukuro is only 1 stop away and has plenty of shops and restaurants too.
All in all Alfie and Kenji made our stay in Tokyo the best we could have hoped for, if I could do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks!
Everything was great! We had a wonderful time stay at Alfie and Kenji's house which is located at a very cute neighborhoods. It is pretty quiet, clean, and comfortable. It feels like staying at my own home. Kenji spent a lot of time to give some super useful info on where to visit and eat on our first night there. It really made this trip much more fun than my other trips in Tokyo. Thank you so much Kenji. Alfie is so sweet and friendly too. They both were rarely home during the 5 days of our staying and even when they were in the house they gave us a lot of space and privacy. They are super Airbnb hosts!!! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful house with us. I would love to stay with you again when next time I visit Tokyo.
This was my first time using airbnb and it was a great experience! The room was very clean, the bed was extremely comfortable, and Alfie and Kenji made us feel right at home with snacks, water, and a book case of guide books. The pocket WiFi was also extremely helpful.
We had a great time at Alfie & Kenji's house, which we used as our home base to explore Tokyo. The house is conveniently located in a very nice and absolutely quiet neighbourhood, but pretty close to Tokyo´s bustling, hustling city centres though. The directions provided by Alfie & Kenji were very helpful & clear and made getting to the house absolutely easy. It´s within a 10 min walk from Kanemecho Metrao station. The house is modern, cosy, tidy and clean. The bedroom, located in the ground floor of the three storey house, is equipped with a comfy bed.
Alfie and Kenji are absolutely respectful and friendly hosts making you feel at home. They prepared freshly percolated coffee every morning and fresh fruits were always available. Worth mentioning is the large selection of guidebooks & time-out maps provided in the guestroom, making sure guests won´t miss anything .... We also appreciated the free portable wifi router, which was indeed very helpful in navigating us through Tokyo.
Lastly, we would particularly like to thank Kenji for taking us out to a superb dinner. It was delicious!! We really enjoyed this evening with you, guys!
All in all, it was a great experience. We highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to Tokyo!
About the Host, Alfie
Born & raised in Texas but based in Tokyo now. Run airbnb with my Japanese businesss partner, Kenji. Early 30's, mature, respectful professionals who work hard but know how to enjoy life. With our Southern/Texas & Japanese backgrounds, hospitality comes quite naturally to us. I studied abroad in Bangkok, Thailand and Paris, France and Kenji studied abroad in NYC during our university days so definitely have a global perspective on things.
Interested in traveling, photography, skin care, cooking, home renovation & interior design. Spent about 3 years designing and renovating the house. Our design aesthetic is clean, modern and uncluttered; a bit Japanesey with a mid-century modern flair. Although we are done with most of our interior design projects, we are continuously looking for ways to improve the comfort and design of our space.
We love good quality food/ingredients, nice wine, and Japanese beer. We have a particular weakness for champagne & macarons. We also love collecting good quality cookware and kitchen gadgets and have a small but growing collection of Japanese knives and handmade Japanese ceramic dinnerware. Love watching cooking & design shows and never get tired of a good old-fashioned make-over.
I fell in love with Tokyo when I first moved here and haven't stopped being amazed by the city every single day. Best place in the world for food, fashion, and shopping as far as I'm concerned. The most fulfilling part of having guests for me is that it gives me the opportunity to help others discover the city and fall in love with it too.
