  • Comfy cottage with plenty of kit. Jais very friendly and welcoming. 40 min drive to SF or 2 hours if traffic bad.

  • This quaint cottage WAS a great retreat to start and end our busy days in the Bay area. The hosts were genuinely friendly and hospitable, providing ingredients for a lovely first morning's breakfast. Be prepared. The bathroom is tiny. It works for one-at-a-time use, though. We really appreciated having a "home" for the week, rather than an impersonal hotel room.

  • We spent a week in this cottage but were out most of our time. We would leave in the morning and only be back at night. We didn’t speak much with our hostess. Driving to San Francisco was sometimes a problem during the day due to the terrible traffic to get to the Bay Bridge. It would take 45 minutes to 2 hours to get to San Francisco, depending on the time we would leave.
Next time we go to San Francisco, we will try to find a place closer to the city.

    Response from Jais:

We are sorry traffic has gotten so bad, but technically it is only a 30 minute drive across the Bay Bridge to SF - we used to do it in that time but now take public transportation to avoid the mess. You see a lot more of the city residents on BART and Muni!

  • The accommodations were great for out small family of 4. Our daughters liked the idea of staying in a cottage. Everything was great and made our weekend get away that much better! We highly recommend this quaint cottage!

  • This lovely cottage had everything I could ask for. It's in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood close to the 580. Very cozy and safe, and whatever was in bloom in the yard smelled really good! Jais left a variety of food which was greatly appreciated!

  • We join the choir in singing praises for this lovely retreat. We spent a comfy month here; Jais was there when we needed her and otherwise gave us the privacy we wanted. It isnt fancy or conventional, but neither are we, and this was just what we wanted.

  • The cottage was cozy, comfortable, and in a very nice neighborhood. Parking was never a problem. Our hosts were very accommodating. We would not hesitate to stay there again on our return visits to the area.

  • Jais' house was a perfect base for me and my family while in the bay area. It was cozy, clean and private. Parking was never a problem and I felt that my car was safe. Jais was thoughtful enough to leave bagels, coffee, half and half, juice and butter for us to have in the a.m. so that we could procrastinate going to the store. A nice touch. She set up a bed downstairs for my daughter with a beautiful vintage bedspread on top. The bed upstairs had a firm mattress and was really comfortable. The weather was cold during our stay, but there were plenty of extra blankets for us to use. The heater warmed the place very quickly as well. The kitchen was very functional and the water filtration system was an added bonus. The bathroom is small, but plenty big for one person at a time. We didn't use the patio because it was too chilly outside, but it looked perfect for sharing a cup of coffee. All and all a perfect experience. We would definitely stay here again and I have already recommended to friends. Thanks Jais!

There is easy freeway access and is centrally located for travel, and buying groceries by car. The Cottage Retreat is an ideal place to relax and lounge. The bed and couch were comfortable.
