About This Listing
A clean, simple, and modern space, designed by Wisznia architects. The building is called the Maritime building, New Orleans original skyscraper. It's in the perfect location to visit the French Quarter, the convention center, or the superdome.
The nights of December 22nd, 23rd, and the 24th are now just $85 a night! This does not include the $100 cleaning fee that I pay my cleaning lady.
$180 is the average price throughout the year. This price could vary anywhere from $95 to $350 depending on if it's a holiday, special event, or overall a certain time of year you're inquiring about. Hotels operate in the same fashion, but I always try to stay below hotels such as Monteleone, and other top rated fancier hotels.
Stay in luxury at the "first skyscraper to be built in New Orleans." The building was built in 1889.
It sits one block from Bourbon and Canal St. Canal St. is what separates the Central Business District from the French Quarter. You would truly be at the center of it all.
-king sized bed
-large L shaped couch
-flat screen television
On the roof there is a heated pool, electric grill, fitness room, and sauna.
Feel free to cook and utilize the kitchen. Sorry but I don't have a stock of food, spices, herbs, etc. Not yet anyway. The only thing I really have is salt and pepper, and the shakers to go with it.
All the doormen are extremely friendly and helpful. Any questions you have about restaurants, shopping, etc. they will gladly answer.
You will need to bring your own soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. unless a special request is made. I do provide hand soap, laundry soap, dish soap, counter top spray, towels, and dryer sheets. I now have a collection of travel size everything that has been left by past guests.
The kitchen is fully furnished aside from the spice/herb issue as far as appliances and cookware is concerned, dishes, cups etc.
This apt. is perfect for a couple, small family, or solo on business. Air mattress is available upon request.
There are a couple of bikes in the lobby that belong to the building that you may use.
Checkout is noon. Check-in is 4pm. These are the guidelines. If a guest is leaving the same day one is arriving this gives me time to clean in between guests. Checkout and check-in is otherwise flexible.
Clean up any large messes, no shoes on the carpet, and if you break it, you buy it.
Please clean up any large messes. If you break anything or stain anything I would appreciate you replacing the item or paying for the professional cleaning. Please no shoes on the carpet, and as little as possible inside the house. Also, this is not a party house! Of course you may drink, and get as drunk as you like, but shouting, screaming, running through the hallways, playing music very loudly, inviting a large group over...this cannot happen. I think you get the idea. This is not a hotel. This is my house.
Darin is a great host. Attentive and responsive to emails. The 8th floor condo is excellent: clean, quiet, comfortable bed, very friendly doorman, great location, convenient to french quarter and convention center on foot.
Darin provides a clean, comfortable & welcoming apartment, with all amenities imaginable.
At any other time, the Central Business District would be an excellent, central location with direct access to every area/attraction in town. However, at this time, the city is tearing up the streets in the cbd, causing traffic jams, incessant honking, and jackhammers running through the night just outside our window. Nothing Darin could do about it, but it is a current issue with the immediate neighborhood.
My husband and I stayed at Darin's condo for three nights and we couldn't be happier. The place matches the photos perfectly and the location is ideal. The streetcar stop is one block away which allowed us to access anywhere we wanted to go. Darin greeted us and provided recommendations for restaurants and venues for cocktails and music. The condo was fully furnished and stocked with all the necessities and the building staff were great. I would highly recommend staying with Darin as my husband and I will be on our next trip back to NOLA!
Great beautiful condo, comfortable bed, spacious feel, clean and safe. Building was in great location for us, walk to streetcar, river, French Quarter. Never met Darin, but was responsive to emails/questions. Great security at building. Would love to stay there next year! Bonus: "Brothers" minimart across the street--best fried chicken in NOLA--open 24/7!
The listing was just as described, and I echo previous guests' comments. The condo was very clean, spacious, and perfect for our needs. We loved the Mrs. Meyer's products in the kitchen and bathroom, and the king sized bed was quite comfortable. The only downside was the noise pollution. Though we were on the 8th floor, it felt as though the construction crew outside was in our living room. Earplugs are a must! Location was great, and we could walk to a lot of the restaurants and destinations on our list. Great way to stay in New Orleans.

About the Host, Darin
I am originally from a small town in Indiana but now love and am proud to call New Orleans home. My life at this point is basically distilling, brewing, billiards, botany, and travel. I have a 40,000 sq. ft. warehouse where I am currently building and raising money for a distillery/brewery/perfumery/farm.
