About this listing
Stay in one of Ventura's most unique homes with a whole section of it designed especially for our guests. If you are up for a fun, one of a kind experience, then we are the place for you! Enjoy the photo tour... (Ventura STVR Permit #2195)
Our beautiful art filled guest studio is clean, cozy and very private because it is detached from the main house. It is perfect for 1-2 guests. You will have a private entrance and a key to the guest studio so you can feel free to come and go as you wish. We are in an excellent Mid-Town location. Within a short walk you can be at a tasty family owned restaurant (including 4 of Ventura's best for breakfast) and less than 2 miles on bike or in your car you can be walking the scenic beach area by the historic pier or enjoying lively downtown.
Amenities inside the guest studio include wireless internet, mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, coffee maker, washer & dryer, iron & ironing board, fresh bedding, towels, robes, slippers. Outside you get your own little patio, shower and restroom with toiletries included. 2 fun beach cruisers are also available for you to borrow, makes for a great way to explore the area. Beach gear available includes towels, chairs, a cooler, umbrella, boogie boards and if one of our wetsuits fits you, your welcome to borrow that too. ;)
Interaction with Guests
We love meeting new people and we are usually here to greet you and show you around when you arrive. (If we will be away the day you arrive we will give you a code to get your key from the lockbox.) We respect your privacy during your stay but are also available should you need us for anything. Whenever possible we like to extend an invitation for you to join us for an evening around the firepit in the backyard (S'mores included). It's been a fun way to spend time with our guests and we are happy to give you suggestions on where to go depending on your interests. Our dog Daisy enjoys meeting new people too, but don't worry, she will only come over to the guest area at your invitation.
Our neighborhood is easy to find, just a few minutes from the freeway exit off Seaward Avenue between the beach and the hills and two central streets, Thompson and Main. We have friendly neighbors with a pleasant amount of activity; people walking their dogs, kids riding bikes to school and families pushing their babies along in strollers. Nights are generally quiet and calm.
Finding parking on the street right near the house is easy. If you don't want to use a car to get around you are welcome to borrow a bike. There are bus stops nearby and if you love walking you can be downtown or at the beach in about 30 minutes.
Other Things to Note
Rate includes the City of Ventura's required 10% Occupancy Tax which is paid to them on a monthly basis. We do not charge extra for cleaning but there is a minimum 2 night stay.
Absolutely no smoking of any kind in or near the guest studio. Thank-you. Also, per city ordinances and out of respect for neighbors quiet time is 10 pm - 7 am.
Best air bnb experience I've had. Great location, beyond well equipped, very private, wonderfully unique accommodations and hosts that were as sweet as can be.
A wonderful house and the hosts are the wonderful people. They are very nice and welcoming. If you need a place to stay pick here! You can thank me later.
This is by far the best and most unique Airbnb I ever stayed at. Claudette and Christopher are wonderful people and were excellent hosts. They custom-designed the home and it is as if they thought of every detail visitors could want. There are so many wonderfully charming details and it is hard to not spend several hours wanting to discover all of them. The shower was a fantastic surprise and I haven't been able to enjoy my regular, ordinary shower the same since. We took their bikes for a few rides around Ventura. At one point the break pad was rubbing against the back tire, and Chris came out and fixed it immediately. They also had a lot of great recommendations for restaurants in the area.
I typically only use Airbnb when I can't find a hotel. Going forward, I will be booking Chris and Claudette's home when visiting the area. We've spent a lot of time in Ventura/Santa Barbara over the years and this was by far our best experience. You must stay here! We had high expectations based on the pictures alone, and they were far exceeded. Thank you so very much Chris and Claudette!
Although I didn't get a chance to meet Claudette, my friend did and raved about how wonderful she was. Chris was an exceptional host with a friendly demeanor and extremely accommodating to our needs. For the first time in my experience using Aribnb, the accurate description was actually outdone by the wonderfulness of the listing. Words can't capture the charm that one will find with all the little quirks of the stay such as a fully functional "outhouse" and an outdoor shower! Not to mention the convenience of a mini fridge, washer/dryer, and coffeemaker in the room's little nook. We even had access to two bikes, which we took full advantage of during our stay riding along the pier and around town. This experience was beyond anything that I could've imagined and honestly made my trip to Ventura better than I could have even planned! I'm so thankful for Chris and Claudette's hospitality and would highly recommend this listing to all family and friends!
Our host met us at our arrival. Told us amazing places to go and eat and relax and play. The boogie boards and bikes are perfect touch for us. The bed was extremely comfortable and had the best sleep in along time. Loved the outdoor shower under the stars. Outhouse was fun too--believe it! Great location. Close to cafe nouveau which was great find for B, L and D! Quiet at night and morning. Outdoor eating area was lovely. Claudette and Chris are sweet, kind and ensure that you are comfortable and have whatever you need.
This was our first Airbnb experience, but I can't imagine how it could be any better. Claudette and Chris were awesome, and their house is super charming. They made perfect use of the space. Every detail was thought out. The style and décor are unique and artistic. If you are at all worried about the shower and toilet being outside (flush toilet in a clean, lighted, and well-decorated outhouse), don't be. They are completely private in a courtyard and only make the place more interesting and unique. I know this might sound hard to picture, but that was our opinion. My wife now wants to install an outdoor shower at our house. Chris and Claudette were extremely helpful and friendly. They offered to build a fire for us and hang out. We wanted to accept but were too busy with plans we'd already made. They also respected our privacy except when we contacted them. We spent a week on different parts of the California coast, and this stay was one of the top highlights. We made great use of the cruiser bikes they supplied, and the house is in a great location for accessing the beach, downtown, and cruising the neighborhoods. The nearby restaurant they recommended (Café Neuveau) was so good we went two days in a row for breakfast. We hope to return to Ventura, and will definitely stay with them again when we do. If we ever decide to open our home to host through Airbnb, we hope to have as much to offer as they do.
About the Host, Claudette And Chris
Ventura is our hometown, also known as the cowtown by the sea - Ventucky. We love the outdoors and greatly enjoy living in this area with its perfect combination of ocean and country. We also like to get out and explore beyond our home base from time to time, especially when we find cool, unique, off the beaten path places to stay. While at home we love being Airbnb hosts and meeting great people, sharing our home and telling them about the beauty of the area.
