Our beautiful art filled guest studio is clean, cozy and very private because it is detached from the main house. It is perfect for 1-2 guests. You will have a private entrance and a key to the guest studio so you can feel free to come and go as you wish. We are in an excellent Mid-Town location. Within a short walk you can be at a tasty family owned restaurant (including 4 of Ventura's best for breakfast) and less than 2 miles on bike or in your car you can be walking the scenic beach area by the historic pier or enjoying lively downtown.
Amenities inside the guest studio include wireless internet, mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, coffee maker, washer & dryer, iron & ironing board, fresh bedding, towels, robes, slippers. Outside you get your own little patio, shower and restroom with toiletries included. 2 fun beach cruisers are also available for you to borrow, makes for a great way to explore the area. Beach gear available includes towels, chairs, a cooler, umbrella, boogie boards and if one of our wetsuits fits you, your welcome to borrow that too. ;)
Interaction with Guests
We love meeting new people and we are usually here to greet you and show you around when you arrive. (If we will be away the day you arrive we will give you a code to get your key from the lockbox.) We respect your privacy during your stay but are also available should you need us for anything. Whenever possible we like to extend an invitation for you to join us for an evening around the firepit in the backyard (S'mores included). It's been a fun way to spend time with our guests and we are happy to give you suggestions on where to go depending on your interests. Our dog Daisy enjoys meeting new people too, but don't worry, she will only come over to the guest area at your invitation.
Our neighborhood is easy to find, just a few minutes from the freeway exit off Seaward Avenue between the beach and the hills and two central streets, Thompson and Main. We have friendly neighbors with a pleasant amount of activity; people walking their dogs, kids riding bikes to school and families pushing their babies along in strollers. Nights are generally quiet and calm.
Finding parking on the street right near the house is easy. If you don't want to use a car to get around you are welcome to borrow a bike. There are bus stops nearby and if you love walking you can be downtown or at the beach in about 30 minutes.

This was a return visit Storybook Guest Studio. It was just as amazing the first time. Chris and Claudette are the perfect hosts. We love coming here. It is relaxing and fun. We will be back again.
We had a great time at Claudette & Chris' Storybook house. They were like a family for the time we stayed in Ventura. In case we would need anything it was just knocking on their door and Chris or Claudette helped us. Even bicycles were available for us to use. So we almost did not have to care about anything.
Claudette and Chris were really great hosts.
I would be happy to stay at their place again.
Staying at the Storybook house was awesome! It was a surprise weekend getaway for my husband's birthday. Claudette and Chris were great hosts, they showed us around their home, we met their dog Daisy and they gave us good pointers for local restaurants and activities to do since we were out of towners. I personally loved the outdoor shower and outhouse, it was the reason I booked this place! The shower was fun to get to relax and look up at the night sky which is something you don't get to do to often! The outhouse was super cute, clean and smelled really good. Loved all the cowboy decor. My theme for the home was gypsy-cowboy! Colorful, cute and western.
Claudette and Chris were wonderful hosts! We stayed for two nights and the campfire and s'mores ended up being our favorite part of our whole trip. The room was immaculate and the entire atmosphere was so much fun. Every detail was thought of and we really felt taken care of. Plus, their dog Daisy is adorable! 5 stars!!!
Claudette and Chris were incredibly accomodating. The place was impeccably clean, and the outdoor shower was a lot of fun to use.
My time at the Storybook House was by far better than I even imagined. Claudette and Chris were beyond welcoming. They seemed to have thought of everything. Claudette gave us quite a few rides while we were in town which was so incredibly nice. They also had bikes we could use which I was really excited about but we didn't get a chance to use them (another reason to come back). My roommate was a little hesitant about the outdoor shower but we both agreed it was pretty incredible after trying it out. It was easily a highlight of staying there. Sadly we only stayed 2 nights but on the second night Claudette and Chris invited us over for a bonfire where they shared wine, food, stories, and even a few songs. The family song is super cute and I suggest asking them to perform it. It felt like we were staying with family and that made our couple of days there truly memorable. I highly recommend staying next time you're in Ventura.
About the Host, Claudette And Chris
Ventura is our hometown, also known as the cowtown by the sea - Ventucky. We love the outdoors and greatly enjoy living in this area with its perfect combination of ocean and country. We also like to get out and explore beyond our home base from time to time, especially when we find cool, unique, off the beaten path places to stay. While at home we love being Airbnb hosts and meeting great people, sharing our home and telling them about the beauty of the area.
Good ole' country style cafe with yummy home style cooking and friendly service. Breakfast and Lunch. Try their corner cakes ;)
So glad this place is close by, always satisfies my craving for mexican food. I usually get a veggie burrito or chili relleno burrito with shredded beef, beans & rice. Their salsa is the best!
Craving a nice steak dinner and some good wine then this is your place (reservations recommended). It's also a great place to go for happy hour Sun-Fri 5-8, Sat 5-630
Love espresso drinks? This locally owned coffee house offers a great selection and friendly service.
Family owned and run, excellent food and service. Our local favorite for sushi.
Cozy indoor and outdoor seating, excellent variety of food morning, noon or night, together with friendly service make this a place we can readily recommend and enjoy going to.
Best views of Ventura! Bring your camera =)
When the beach weather isn't favorable this is a beautiful park to visit. Lots of trees and nice hiking trails!
