Stay in one of Ventura's most unique homes with a whole section of it designed especially for our guests. If you are up for a fun, one of a kind experience, then we are the place for you! Enjoy the photo tour... (Ventura STVR Permit #2195)
Our beautiful art filled guest studio is clean, cozy and very private because it is detached from the main house. It is perfect for 1-2 guests. You will have a private entrance and a key to the guest studio so you can feel free to come and go as you wish. We are in an excellent Mid-Town location. Within a short walk you can be at a tasty family owned restaurant (including 4 of Ventura's best for breakfast) and less than 2 miles on bike or in your car you can be walking the scenic beach area by the historic pier or enjoying lively downtown.
Amenities inside the guest studio include wireless internet, mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, coffee maker, washer & dryer, iron & ironing board, fresh bedding, towels, robes, slippers. Outside you get your own little patio, shower and restroom with toiletries included. 2 fun beach cruisers are also available for you to borrow, makes for a great way to explore the area. Beach gear available includes towels, chairs, a cooler, umbrella, boogie boards and if one of our wetsuits fits you, your welcome to borrow that too. ;)
Interaction with Guests
We love meeting new people and we are usually here to greet you and show you around when you arrive. (If we will be away the day you arrive we will give you a code to get your key from the lockbox.) We respect your privacy during your stay but are also available should you need us for anything. Whenever possible we like to extend an invitation for you to join us for an evening around the firepit in the backyard (S'mores included). It's been a fun way to spend time with our guests and we are happy to give you suggestions on where to go depending on your interests. Our dog Daisy enjoys meeting new people too, but don't worry, she will only come over to the guest area at your invitation.
Our neighborhood is easy to find, just a few minutes from the freeway exit off Seaward Avenue between the beach and the hills and two central streets, Thompson and Main. We have friendly neighbors with a pleasant amount of activity; people walking their dogs, kids riding bikes to school and families pushing their babies along in strollers. Nights are generally quiet and calm.
Finding parking on the street right near the house is easy. If you don't want to use a car to get around you are welcome to borrow a bike. There are bus stops nearby and if you love walking you can be downtown or at the beach in about 30 minutes.
Other Things to Note

We do not charge extra for cleaning but there is a minimum 2 night stay.
Absolutely no smoking of any kind in or near the guest studio. Thank-you. Also, per city ordinances and out of respect for neighbors quiet time is 10 pm - 7 am.
Staying at the Storybook house was awesome! It was a surprise weekend getaway for my husband's birthday. Claudette and Chris were great hosts, they showed us around their home, we met their dog Daisy and they gave us good pointers for local restaurants and activities to do since we were out of towners. I personally loved the outdoor shower and outhouse, it was the reason I booked this place! The shower was fun to get to relax and look up at the night sky which is something you don't get to do to often! The outhouse was super cute, clean and smelled really good. Loved all the cowboy decor. My theme for the home was gypsy-cowboy! Colorful, cute and western.
Claudette and Chris were wonderful hosts! We stayed for two nights and the campfire and s'mores ended up being our favorite part of our whole trip. The room was immaculate and the entire atmosphere was so much fun. Every detail was thought of and we really felt taken care of. Plus, their dog Daisy is adorable! 5 stars!!!
Claudette and Chris were incredibly accomodating. The place was impeccably clean, and the outdoor shower was a lot of fun to use.
My time at the Storybook House was by far better than I even imagined. Claudette and Chris were beyond welcoming. They seemed to have thought of everything. Claudette gave us quite a few rides while we were in town which was so incredibly nice. They also had bikes we could use which I was really excited about but we didn't get a chance to use them (another reason to come back). My roommate was a little hesitant about the outdoor shower but we both agreed it was pretty incredible after trying it out. It was easily a highlight of staying there. Sadly we only stayed 2 nights but on the second night Claudette and Chris invited us over for a bonfire where they shared wine, food, stories, and even a few songs. The family song is super cute and I suggest asking them to perform it. It felt like we were staying with family and that made our couple of days there truly memorable. I highly recommend staying next time you're in Ventura.
I luckily stumbled upon Claudette and Chris' lovely home when I was going to visit my boyfriend in Los Angeles. We had the most amazing stay! Claudette and Chris were so welcoming once we arrived, and they even let us use their bikes to ride around Ventura! We LOVED the bikes, the ambiance of the whole house, and especially the outdoor shower! We felt so cozy and relaxed. Claudette and Chris were also very helpful with tips on hikes and where to eat in the neighborhood. Thank you so much for making our weekend memorable!
Claudette and Chris are very sweet. Their magical guest suite is really fun and cheerful. I loved the outdoor shower! Chris showed me around town and introduced me to people in my field and showed me the local landmarks. I highly recommend this Air B N B!!
Staying at the Storybook Guesthouse was one of the best parts of my vacation. Claudette and Chris were amazingly helpful...driving me to and from the station and the center of town, giving me a tour of the area so that I was better able to orient myself and so much more. The guest house was impeccably clean and lacked absolutely nothing. The best part was getting to know my hosts and sharing time around the fire pit in their lovely garden and listening to Claudette and Chris play their guitars. I would wholeheartedly recommend this very special and magical place to you.
Ventura is our hometown, also known as the cowtown by the sea - Ventucky. We love the outdoors and greatly enjoy living in this area with its perfect combination of ocean and country. We also like to get out and explore beyond our home base from time to time, especially when we find cool, unique, off the beaten path places to stay. While at home we love being Airbnb hosts and meeting great people, sharing our home and telling them about the beauty of the area.
