The house was cozy, and as described. It was tricky to find, especially without much internet/phone signal, and the pin didn't take us to the right place. But, the hosts friend Teresa was very helpful and quickly answered and helped us find the place over the phone. In addition, Teresa had someone come over to help us figure out how to turn on the heat. We got perfect weather and were able to sit outside as well!
We felt very welcome by Richard and Nollaig. The description of the house as a "traditional cozy Irish Farmhouse" is spot on. We spent two great weeks there. Thanks Richard and Nollaig!
Place just as described. Nollaig was very helpful. There is a gas stove which keeps everything warm. Nearby Lahinch great for food (veggie cafe!) and watching surfers.
We were met by Richard, Nollaig's Husband when we arrived at the cottage. We were given a tour and had everything explained to us about the oil and electric heating, cooking hob, internet connection, shower and some activities to do in the Lahinch area. Richard was very friendly and funny and said he would be avaiable to contact if needed.
The cottage was much bigger than we expected which gave us space to spread our suitcases out etc. It was clean and very nicely presented.
The cottage had everything that was listed except for a dryer, which we thought was a clothes dryer but we couldn't find it and didn't think to ask when having the welcome tour. I had asked for an iron and ironing board, the iron was there but the ironing board was not. It was supposed to be delivered but wasn't. Sadly the internet was a big problem. We didn't have any connection the whole time we were there, apart from 5 minutes one night. We had to go three times to a Cafe and Hotel to get connection at a cost to us, breakfast and morning teas as we felt we couldn't just walk in and use their connection. We had several texts and phone calls between Richard and ourselves to try and sort the problem which wasn't sorted before we left. This also disrupted our daily plans. Richard was very apologetic and annoyed with his provider and did offer us an extra nights stay at no charge, but we were already pre booked for our next stay. He is currently sorting the situation.
The cottage was in a beautiful country setting, making for lovely evening walks, meeting horses, donkeys, sheep, cattle and dogs along the way. It was lovely to chat with locals along the way and the next door neighbour had a very friendly dog who loved to greet us as often as she could. The history of the cottage was also nice to learn about from Richard.
Lahinch, Aran Island and Cliffs of Moher cruise, Burren National Park, Limerick, Kilfenora, Galway and many more were all in a good distance from the cottage. Travelling the country roads is a great way to see all the quaint villages and many historic ruins along the way.
The house was amazing! In the middle of nowhere, in beautiful nature (nearby cliffs of moher). We had a great 2 days. Communication with nollaig was perfect! Hope to come back some time for longer then 2 days :-) greets Manon, Rogier, Esther, Marijn and baby Juna :-)
