Greg and Robert have been more than kind and welcoming: everything was perfect in the apartment, the right place to stay and live in to feel NYC and home at the same time.
Coordination was easy. Greg and Robert were very responsive and the meeting to get the key and a quick tour of the apartment went off without a hitch.
The apartment was fantastic. Cute, cozy, and well-appointed. The bed was very comfortable, and the heater in the bathroom came in very handy. The shower cranks out some serious pressure, which was great! I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Greg was a great hoste. He gave us a good welcome and show us everything we need. Tha apartment was so good, everything was great, clean and tidy. The bed is confortable, the shower is great and the apartament is big enough for stay on it. He left us some coffee we used for breakfast and other things we need, it is a perfect apartment. The subway is very close, something basic to visit NYC. The neighbourhood is very good, there are supermarkets, some restaurants and take away to get whatever you want. We recommend it so much. If we come back to NYC we will call Greg for sure!
We had a lovely stay at Greg's apartment. Robert met us and graciously showed us through the apartment and also gave us helpful information on the surrounding ding area. He also told us about how the subway worked with ticketing. The apartment was well fitted out with every convenience you would want. Yes, it is noisy but it is New York and we were aware that it would be noisy but when we returned each night after exploring New York we were so tired the noise wasn't that intrusive. We would gladly stay there again if we are lucky enough to get to New York.
This upper East side apartment is really upper.
Nice and safe but really upper.
Number 6 train and buses up 3rd and 1st and down 2nd but you do have to time factor in another 40-50 streets from mid town.
Having said that, it is a lovely space though the floor feels a little slopey.
Comfortable bed in it’s own light filled room, great water pressure in the bathroom, heaps of towels, good and functional kitchen, comfortable and spacious living area.
The big factor for us though was the noise.
Read the reviews, warned by Robert but nothing prepared us for the noise.
It’s on a hill so the trucks, buses etc have to rev up to get up the hill and there is some type of metal plate on the road that they rattle over.
We live in a quiet suburb in Australia so we just aren’t used to hearing a peep.
So we probably “heard” it more than most.
The provided ear plugs really helped but if noise is not for you, this apartment probably isn’t either.
But if you want to live in an UES apartment close to Central Park and the Museum mile, then this apartment is worth a stay.
The flat was as described, with all you need for being a real new yorker. Greg was very helpfull when we arrived and explained us everything for spend a good time in his flat. We enjoyed to be in an used appartment with all the comfort (good bed, full equipment in the kitchen, tidy bathroom and a large living room to relax after a day of sightseeing). There are lots of stores nearby for shopping and the subway station is in 2 minutes. The only minor complaint is the noise during the night, but we are in Manhattan (bring your earplugs !!). It was our first experience with airbnb and we were satisfied about it. I recommand Greg and his flat.
So, as said - Gr8 location, very close to museum mile & Guggenheim specifically.
Good Kitchen, Wi-Fi, bed, Powerful shower (!), close 6 subway station or try to take the bus sometimes to see the city.
The Apartment is big enough & has a living room also :)
Traffic noise didn't bother us so much, we slept well without ear plugs. We met Robert who was very nice & informative.
If you need to print e-mail/reservation or something ? go to staples (87 & Lexington)
If you don't want to do it yourself in-house, there is a Laundry across the street (10LB for 6.75$).
It was our first time visiting New York and our first time using Airbnb.
My husband and I read some bad reviews about Airbnb prior to our visit but fortunately, we had a very good experience and a great stay with Greg. We are so pleased that Greg had the availability for 7njghts at his apartment, he was so pleasant and even though we were 3hours late on arrival from the airport, Greg was patient and talked us through everything we needed to know about the apartment and the local area.
The apartment was cosy and had much character. We opted to stay in an apartment as we had more freedom and space to chill out, even ordering take out from a local Burmese place, (food was quite nice BTW!)
The apartment Wifi worked well, shower was super powerful, the air con was handy on those hot days, and the bed was very comfortable. =) Previous guests have mentioned the noise from the traffic, it didn't bother us too much, (although it was loud), but it is New York after all!
We never met Robert, but Greg left us with his number in case we needed to contact him. Our stay was very smooth indeed.
Getting in and around New York was easy, less than a 3 minute walk to the nearest metro station and the area felt really safe at night.
Our experience with Airbnb was hassle free, and contacting Greg was easy and he always responded promptly.
Overall, a fantastic stay and would highly recommend anyone to stay here. We would love to stay again for sure! Thank you once again Greg for your hospitality! =)
(For future guests, the Corner Cafe and Bakery on 3rd Avenue was quite cute and worth a visit, we had breakfast there a couple of times)
My husband and I spent a week in NYC and stayed at Greg's. It was a great experience- very roomy in the apartment, comfortable bed and pillows, great (new) couch and the place is decorated with so many great pieces! Would highly recommend to stay here. Our one and only drawback was the traffic heard at night. The city never sleeps and neither does the trash service with their loud trucks. However, with ear plugs my husband and I both slept like babies so it wasn't a problem after the first night. He also keeps ear plugs (the good ones) in the apartment FYI. Having a kitchen was defintitely a plus for this place. We woke up to making coffee and toasting NY bagels every morning (bought down the street from the apartment). There are also fruit vendors all around which made it nice too. Enjoy your stay here; I'm sure you won't be disappointed. :)
We enjoyed a great 4 days in New York staying in Greg's very comfortable and attractive apartment on upper East side. Immaculate, cosy and secure apartment on the 4th floor with elevator access. Felt safe using the subway,96th subway station only a minute's walk from the apartment. A great location for the museums and Central Park. Noise from night time traffic from the street below the only negative. If you are a light sleeper you might find it helpful to invest in ear plugs!
