On our tiny private island in south Puget Sound you'll see more deer, seal, porpoise, eagle and whales than you'll see people.
Perched on the western shore of Herron Island, about 90 minutes from Seattle. Enjoy all the beauty of the Puget Sound. Hot tub, fire pit, kayak, paddle board, beach comb and the most amazing sunsets you'll ever see!
The space
IMPORTANT!
On September 14, 2026 our private ferry will be out of service for an estimated 4-6 weeks. Our on island host can shuttle guests and their belongings by private boat from the mainland ferry terminal directly to the our property. You can park your car at the mainland ferry terminal.
Please contact us with any questions before making reservations from September 14th through October 26th.
Our beachfront property features 2 individual buildings, The Cabin and The Annex, that are available either separately or together. We can accommodate parties of 1 to 8 guests. Pets are welcome.
The 700 square foot Beachfront Cabin sleeps up to 4 guests. The air-conditioned cabin has an open floor plan with a downstairs open bedroom and an upstairs open loft.
Hot tub, fire pit, huge view deck.
For groups of 5 or more, or if you just prefer more privacy, you can add the 600 square foot Annex for an additional $85 per night which will be added to your bill after you make your reservation.
The Annex is in a separate building, just across the yard. This is an excellent option for two couples or families with children.
To add the Annex simply let us know at the time you make your reservation and we will update your rate. The Annex is only available to parties who also book the Cabin. We do not rent the Annex to separate parties.
In the Beachfront Cabin you'll find your queen size bed in the downstairs open bedroom and 2 single beds in the upstairs open loft. The loft is accessible by ladder. There is a half wall in the loft with an opening for the ladder. Kids LOVE the loft but it may not be suitable for very young kids or anyone who would have difficulty with a ladder or low ceilings. Please watch young children.
The Cabin has a bathroom with shower, washer/dryer, TV/DVD and a fully equipped kitchen plus a propane outdoor grill (you'll probably do your main cooking at the Cabin).
If you add the Annex you'll find a queen size bed in the upstairs air conditioned bedroom and a sleeper sofa with a ceiling fan downstairs. The Annex has it's own bathroom with shower, washer/dryer, TV/DVD and a fully equipped kitchenette. The kitchenette has refrigerator, induction hotplate and large microwave (no stove) ideal for smaller meals.
The Cabin and Annex combination are an excellent option for groups who want to be together yet still enjoy the privacy of separate buildings.
The waterfront deck of the Cabin is a great place to congregate. We have neighbors on both sides but high privacy fences will give you all the privacy you'll need (see exterior photos). Take in the unobstructed ocean, island and mountain view from the hot tub, Adirondack chairs. or the propane fir-pit There's a nice picnic table with an umbrella where you can enjoy your meals outside. Prepare your meals outside on our propane grill.
The sunsets are spectacular all year long. Watch for the resident deer, heron, seal, porpoise and eagles. There’s a good chance you’ll spot Orca or Gray Whales. Your location on the west shore is the best whale sighting spot on the island. Picture your group sitting in the hot tub or around the outdoor fire pit, scanning the the water for Orcas and watching the changing colors of the sky as the sun sets behind the Olympic mountains.
If you prefer to stay inside you can enjoy the amazing view or watch a movie on your comfy couch in front of the cozy wood burning stove.
With no stores or restaurants on the island you'll enjoy a level of peace that is hard to match anywhere else. There are neighbors' vacation homes on either side of the cabin but you'll have ample privacy anywhere on the property. Enjoy all the beauty and peace our island has to offer.

A short walk down the stairs (46 to be exact) brings you to your own private beach, one of the nicest on the island. You’ll find 2 kayaks and 2 stand up paddle boards at your disposal at no additional charge.
The water in Case Inlet is exceptionally calm. An early morning paddle is a fantastic way to start your day. The water is fairly warm in the summer and excellent for swimming and floating. The calm waters make for some of the best paddle sports you’ll find anywhere.
Other things to note
YOU MUST BRING ALL FOOD WITH YOU. THERE ARE NO STORES, RESTAURANTS OR MEDICAL SERVICES ON THE ISLAND.
We supply all towels, linen, soap and paper products. We supply propane for the outdoor BBQ and outdoor fire pit. We supply firewood for the indoor wood burning stove. Tap water is fine for drinking. Kitchen is fully equipped. There is a house manual with complete information in the house.
You are welcome to use our kayaks and paddle boards. We have plenty of life jackets in a wide array of sizes. If you have kids under 6 years you'll need to bring your own. There is no lifeguard on the beach.
Cell/internet service is sporadic on the island but generally pretty good in the vicinity of our cabin.
Herron Island can only be accessed by our private ferry. Toll is $25 for car and driver plus $5 per additional passenger round trip.
Herron Island is a very peaceful place. Enjoy all the beauty and peace our island has to offer and please respect our neighbor’s rights to the same.

Neighborhood highlights
Herron Island is a truly unique place. The tiny island is just over a mile long. You can leisurely walk all the way round the island on the beach in about 2 hours. Most of the homes on the island are vacation homes although there are about 150 permanent residents. There is an outdoor basketball and pickle ball court, swings, play area and baseball field at the community center at the top of the island.
The island is home to a wide variety of friendly animals. You'll see bald eagles, porpoise, seals, deer and the occasional pod of Orca and humpback whales. Orcas have been visiting the island this year far more than ever before. The West shore, where you'll be staying, is the best place to find them. Our abundant and friendly deer will undoubtedly pay you a visit. They love to be fed. One apple or bread crust will win you a friend for life!
You won't find Herron Island's sort of peace and relaxation anywhere else. Leave the chaos of the city behind and head for the island!

We recently discovered the many hidden islands, beaches and inlets of Southern Puget Sound. We were amazed that such beautiful places could exist so close to us, without ever knowing they were even there. We now own and share three island beach homes in South Puget Sound.
